My fitness instructor broke her leg above the ankle and didn't miss one class. She has done full ab/core/sit-ups routine (20 minutes) and then got on the ball for upper body workouts, both chest and back, then added shoulder. She did some leg exercises on the ball, and would do anything except stand on her bad leg.
Now, two months later she does the entire workout except squats and lunges. She has a walking cast.
It can be done. Be creative and resourceful.
