wow 75 pounds is great! but yes the loose skin folds are depressing. Loosing slowly now helps (giving time for skin to adapt), drinking lots of water, strengthening muscles makes it less obvious - but think some loose skin stays ...

I would say that given the amount of weight that you have lost, you are dealing with loose skin. It can take a while for skin to tighten up after weight-loss, and how much your skin recovers depends on a number of factors (how quickly you gained/lost the weight, age, genetics, how long you were overweight, etc.). I would consult with a doctor about ways to help your skin bounce back and about how to prevent some of the issues that crop up with loose folds of skin.

Are they really loose fat or loose skin? Depending on how young a person is, loose skin can shrink back considerably over time.

I do 3 days a week on an elliptical, up to level 6, 7 1/4 miles, and do 3 days of strength for about an hour and 1/4. I want to lose about another 50 lbs but it's going slow. I am more focused on how I feel these days instead of weight loss so I don't drive myself crazy. I'm just wondering if there is anything i can do because these loose areas are really annoying, hehe. Thanks for the responses, much appreciated.

Hi, Tom ! Congratulations on losing 75 pounds !

As the PP noted, we don't get to decide where the weight comes off. Genetics makes that decision. If you continue to eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise that includes some strength training, you will continue to lose weight off your entire body.

And something you need to consider is that, those fat pockets may not be pockets of fat, but folds of excess skin. Because you lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time, you probably have more than your fair share of excess skin. Depending on how old you are, there is a chance some (but not all) of the skin might pop back. As we age, our skin looses its elasticity. So, the younger you are, the better the chances are that some skin might pop back with time.

Will it all pop back ? Depends on how much more weight you're trying to lose. Many members will tell you how they ended up with some excess skin after weight loss. I'm one of them. I lost less than you, but I did end up with some loose skin that didn't pop back.

And have you been doing any strength training ? If not, I'm going to encourage you to start. Strength training won't help decrease any excess skin, but it will help increase your lean muscle. which in turn will help to improve your over all strength, posture and self confidence.

Your body picks where the fat loss comes from and when. There's not exercise that can reduce the fat on a given area. You can do strength training to retain muscle while losing and possibly build more (although that is difficult without eating at a surplus) which can help to make the area look better.

Hi, I'm Tom. I have been working out religiously for about 7 months now, and have so far dropped 75 lbs. I am finding now that I have loose hanging fat pockets on the inside of my thighs, my belly, and my pubic area. How do I get rid of these fat pockets without lipo or surgery?
