I have never heard of the Fiturbo until now. I love the look and it seems simple enough so I started checking out the reviews and most love the actual Fiturbo, but they complain about the software. What has been your experience with the Fiturbo and with the software?

I am a huge Fitbit One fan! It has taken more than 15 pounds off my frame without dieting. I do eat less but it's been more of a natural process, and while I eat less, I eat all my favorite foods - foods I didn't eat when I was trying to lose weight unsuccessfully. I just take long leisurely walks and contra dance. Thank you, Fitbit!

I really liked my fitbit one, then sadly washed with my bra, its traveling place. Then I got the flex from Amazon. I hated it, uncomfortable and unreliable. So I sent it back. Just bought the fitbit one again with insurance against malfunction, loss and laundering. I am happy to have it back

My Pedometer just broke on me should of bought the FitBit the first time, problem rectified by Amazon. Its my Birthday Present to me now lol. Just have to wait a few days for it to arrive. I'll have to guesstimate my steps until then. It'll be nice to have my data synced automatically even though I liked inputting my numbers manually. I'll sign up for the FitBit group now~

That would be handy to be able to locate it. I did hear several Spark People say how easy it was to misplace it. Maybe you can make a special case or have a clip. So sorry to hear this happened. emoticon

Boo Hoo... so sad :-( I lost my fitbit Friday... and immediately ordered a new one!!! Safe to say I'm addicted to it and how it motivates me to keep moving!!!

Am considering gettting rid of my old Blackberry phone and getting an Iphone so that i can sync it to my fitbit AND if I lose/misplace this next one I'd be able to walk around with my cellphone and sync it, therefore narrowing down the location to where it is! I read a story where the girl lost hers while out to dinner... called the restaurant to see if they had found one. No. so she drove back with her iphone and was able to sync with her fitbit and it was in the restaurant!!! So she went to the table she had been sitting at and asked the customers to check if there was a fitbit in their seats... it was there!!! Lucky girl!!! So yeah... I want to be able to do that too in the future... how annoying to lose it.

BEACHGAL63, I've never personally tried it, but if you're moving your feet and shifting your weight at all, Fitbit would record those as steps. In addition, you can log activities so Fitbit will calculate more calories burned based on that activity, similar to what you can do on Spark. I just checked the Fitbit dashboard, and you can specifically log Zumba time, thus tracking those calories accurately.

I've been using my Fitbit One for one month. I've lost six pounds, which is more than I anticipated losing. I really like it, and it's highly motivating. I exercise more than I used to.

For what it's worth, for those who wonder if Fitbit OVER-estimates the amount of calories they burn -- I found exactly the opposite. I just looked at how many calories I ate vs. how many I burned according to Fitbit since I started wearing it, and on paper, I should only have lost 4.9 pounds. I lost six. Somewhere along the line I'm either eating less than I'm tracking (which I highly doubt) or I'm burning a little more than I thought. I hope it continues that way.

About one week in, I love my Fitbit! I had a good customer service experience as well if that helps anyone.

Even if you don't know if you will end up using the sleep tracker in particular, I love it so far. It seems pretty accurate as to when you wake up in the night. I know I was curious about it, and here was a bit of information about it on the Fitbit blog: http://blog.fitbit.com/?p=238

I purchased the fitbit one. It has really helped me to stay on track. I have been trying to lose the last 15 pounds for a few years now. I start off on track and then get easily sidetracked. I started wearing the fitbit one on 1/27. I am down 5 pounds. I feel great. I really like knowing how much more or less I need to do. I have a horrible habit of doing too much too soon, this has really helped me to stay on course. That being said, I think Sparkpeople is the best tool out there for helping people achieve their goals. I hope this post helps.

I purchased my fitbit zip today. It fits my budget and my needs perfectly. I feel that I need the motivation to get myself off the couch & get going. I've tried pedometers for years and could only get them to work accurately if I wore blue jeans or blue jean shorts. The fit bit is tracking perfectly.

Thank you for everyone who posted their feedback here.

Deciding which fitness tracker to buy can be a challenge. I did a google search before finally deciding on the Fitbit One. I read through all the amazon reviews and read the forums on the fitbit website. (an impulse buyer I am not) I found several product comparison reviews. On one of them the guy strapped several of the different competing devices to himself at once and then did a series of activities over the course of a few days then compared the results. I wish I could find the site again so I could post a link. It has all sorts of graphs and tables comparing the different features. All of them have different strengths and weaknesses. It is a matter of finding the one that suits you best. To me the Fitbit One seemed the best value for the money. There really wasn't a significant difference between the fitbit and the more expensive devices. Probably the biggest thing that swayed me to the one was the phenomenal customer service reviews I read. There were tons of stories from people who lost their bits or broke them even a year after they bought them and the company sent a replacement free or charge!

I bought a Fitbit, but it was defective. So after spending a lot of time setting it up with my computer, I had to take it back. Then I just got one that I wear like a watch, and it records steps, miles, calories burned estimate, and pulse.

Nope! No monthly fee for the fitbit. There is a premium service you can subscribe to for $50 a year, but it is not required.

I received by Fitbit One right before Christmas and have been so chaotically busy I haven't had a chance to get it out of the box. I am making that my #1 priority for this upcoming week (I am off for a week starting Monday). I am very anxious to see how the sleep tracking function works!

This is for me...

my fitbit one worked great the first week or so; then one day i did 11 floors but only one was recorded on my tracker. now today i did 10 floors and it's showing 29 floors! i contacted fitbit customer service via email over the christmas holiday; received one response in 2 days to do a test climb of 2 floors to see what was recorded. i emailed them a reply a few minutes ago. i anticipate a response within 2 days.

I clip my FitBit to my pant leg when using my recumbent bike. It seems to track ok that way.

Now having said that...I'm pretty sure I was wrong....lol
Fitbit only registered 2793 steps for 30 minutes of bike riding at 15 mph. should be at least 5000 steps added to what I already had.
Here's a great steps conversion link for anyone interested.

I just got the fitbit one and love it. It keeps me active because I am very competetive. I am mainly competing with myself here but when I see low step counts I am motivated to go out and take a walk, do a fitness DVD or march up and down the stairs of my building. My neighbors must think I am crazy but I love it.

it doesnt only make you exercise though. you set a goal for when you want to complete your weight loss by and then when you log your food through spark as long as its synced it can keep track of the calories you have eaten. it then will tell you how many calories you need to eat or burn by how active you have been and how many calories you have burned.....(from walking for whatever you did throughout the day). I love it because it helps me know if im in the goal zone for my weight loss. i have to say its helping me ALOT. but everyone has their own opinions about things. for me its works and i am in love with it. with my sleep tracker i now know i wake up 20+ times in the middle of the night.....not sure why i do lol but now i know that before i thought i only woke up 1 or 2 because thats all i remembered. now i know why im tired all the time. i hope this information is helpful to some people atleast because this thing is awesome.

have a great new years!

the fitbit is amazing! i love the fact that it tells me how many more calories i can eat, if i have eaten the correct amount, or if im over. it goes by how active you are......and i have gotten through my weeks of gaining or staying the same since i received it for xmas.....i got it early though lol. if you are serious about weight loss and dedicated then i would get one! i have the ultra but have heard great things about the new one.

Yenglish100 - I wear my Fitbit One, every morning when I do 60 minutes on the elliptical. The stationary bike is not great, doesn't monitor because you are sitting. It would be best to log an activity when doing things like riding the bike or swimming.

Does anyone use the fitbit to monitor an elliptical trainer or stationary bike?

Just wanted to say that I have been strongly considering buying one of these cool gadgets. Thanks so much for all the input. I think I will buy the "one" and buy my daughter and husband the zip. Seems like a cool thing to have if you are trying to be more active.

I lost my first Ultra - it dropped on the ground and then got run over by the car. Suffice it to say that I had to replace it.

The second one is not syncing with my online account. I'm not sure why. I've tried to delete my first account and start a new one. Still not working. I'm going to make one last push to get it to work and then I'm going to make them exchange it. I miss it!!!

Good luck my SP friends!!!

I wanted to add one more thing. I had read a while ago that someone said they were going to look online to see if it could be found less expensive. I understand that totally.
However- unless it is a considerable amount I would recommend going through SparkPeople to get it. SparkPeople does get a little bit of a kickback.
I think I SparkPeople website is fantastic I would like to support it anyway I can so that others can utilize all it has to offer for free. Free is what made me join- the trackers and information very useful but- what is priceless is the people on here that support each other!

@GRIZ1GIRL: Good for you! Congrats on exercising every day!
No offense, but treadmill is just another fitness gadget to me, just a bigger one. ;)

And, we are all different. I for one could use a little gadget clipped on my hip to motivate me and walk this extra mile... outdoors!

The sleep feature is nice- it lets you know (approximately) how much you burn while resting. You have to go in and manually put in the time you went to bed and got up. it then does the rest but I don't know how it works-. It does record that I wake up more than I thought.

I like the one because it is smaller so it is not bulky.

Someone just said you don't need one- and that is true . you can just make yourself do it. On the other hand- it can motivate you to do more than you did the day before.

I have an active job and usually hit over 10,000 steps there. One Day from the time I got up to the time I got off work I walked 8.5 miles. The other thing that I have noticed is that it records some of my activity as "fitness activity" which is cool. activity I just did are now counting towards my fitness minutes. My days off are the days I have to push myself because those are the days I usually sleep over 10-12 hours a night.

It is cool- because it also sends updates- I signed up for. You only need 500 steps today to get your 10,000 steps in. Or You received a 25 floor badge. It doesn't count steps- somehow it counts changes in elevation as you are walking so hills count-
I walked after work one day- did my first 10K! as I was getting ready for bed I checked my fitbit and I was at 48 floors. I did over 35,000 steps that day.
Well- I ran (walked) up and down my basement stairs to make the 50! I have only received one 25 and one 50 floor badge.

So No- you don't need a fit bit to do anything. However- if you want an extra motivator to get you moving and besting yourself-- It works.

That is one thing I am learning- the only one you really have to best- is yourself.
That is so hard for me when I am doing my walking and runners and passing me by. And then pass me again! But we are all at different stages of our journey AND have different circumstances that affect how and what you do. I am under 5' I can take as many steps in an hour as the next person. I do- I watch when I feet hit the ground compared to theirs. But the person that is 6' just goes further because of his/her stride. And that is something I can not change.

got my fitbit one and i love it. it's so cool being able to track your steps and flights of stairs-not to mention your sleep. i forgot to put it on this morning when i went to the gym though so now i'm frustrated because i don't have the number of steps counted that i took on the treadmill for 45 minutes! bummer...lol!

I love my fitbit one. It helps me stay on track. I like the size as it fits nicely in my pocket without added bulk. I never thought about tracking stairs and since this came with a step tracker I have now started taking the stairs! I love the auto sync feature. I don't have to remember to log my steps. emoticon Great little device.

I ordered the fitbit One and LOVE it. I actually like how it tracks sleep because it's made me make a more conscious effort to get quality sleep, which is good since I'm a workaholic. I don't have stairs although it does count the starts at my trainstation, etc and I can clip it anywhere at work without it being noticeable (bra if wearing a dress or an outfit where a larger one would be more visible)

Also, the alarm system in this is great - I have present times, in the am, in the afternoon to remind me to go for a walk, etc. Great tool!

Are you afraid to try or are you afraid to fail?

Thanks for providing feedback on "fitbit." I just ordered one two days ago and hope to receive before Christmas. However, I too hope to increase my activity with this little device. It would make tracking so much easier since the information can sync to your computer.

Fitbit one. I have sleep issues, so the sleep monitor feature helps a lot. I dropped it one time without realizing it, but someone saw it happen and handed it back to me. Not sure how that happened.

I LOVE my fitbit one! Have not gone a day or night when I'm not using it. Never realize just how much I wasn't logging in and it makes exercises so much more fun. I hate stairs but now I'm finding myself going up them more often just to tack another floor onto my daily total. Also love the sleep tracker, didn't realise was waking up as much as 30 times in a night. My only fault is that it slips out the wrist band easily at night, my solution is turnign the band inside out so the openign is against the skin so don't lose the fitbit. But I"m so glad I decide to actuallly get it. I have three pedometer that i had used from time to time , they were either falling off, digging into my side, they don't recorde well on the elliptical and bike. This blows all other pedometer out the water.

Just got the FitBit Zip. I love it. It is enlightening to know how much I'm walking and how much im burning so simply by punching my Zip in the face. It's app kind of sucks on the Droid (I have a Droid Incredible 2) but honestly I can wait to synch until the end of the day.

I recommend the zip for simple facts, I don't care what I burn sleeping I just like to know what I'm doing through the day.

Ps: I call my charcoal Zip, Chip.

I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

I had a Fitbit Ultra for about 6 months and loved it!! It survived 2 mud races when I accidentally left it attached to my shorts.

I lost it at Thanksgiving and since I didn't record my sleep and I don't live anywhere near stairs, I decided to get a Fitbit Zip to replace it. A few points that I like or don't like.

Cons:

I don't like that I can't charge it and have to use watch batteries.

I feel like it's less generous with steps and calories burned...because my numbers are way lower now but I feel like I am just as active as I was with the Ultra.

I can't see the display in dark rooms because it's not backlit.

I think the Fitbit Zip sync dongle that plugs into my computer USB port is interfering with other bluetooth actions. Since I started using it, the bluetooth in my Macbook pro will suddenly become "unavailable" so I have to restart it without the dongle in.

Pros:
Way cheaper!

I like that it's small and it stays on more securely on the waist. (which is how I lost the ultra).

It syncs with my phone so I don't always have to run near my computer to sync.

Again, It's small :)

That said...if it's not quite as accurate as the ultra or the One, at least it's erring on the side of caution and not giving me a false sense of working hard enough :)

Got the FitBit One late Oct. Love that it's motivating for me to make sure I get in my steps AND stairs. No other pedometer ever recorded the flights of stairs I walk daily. Great motivator to take the in a few extra flights of stairs at work, too.

According ot the website they no longer sell the Fitbit Ultra, just Fitbit One or Fitbit Zip. I accidentally washed my Fitbit Ultra and discovered this when I went to order a new one.

I am going to try the Zip this time since the cost is less and it tracks the things that are important to me.

I love my Fitbit One. The pedometer is great. I was actually UNDER-estimating the number of calories I was burning, and hindering my weight loss by not eating enough. I've since increased my caloric intake and am loosing weight again. I chose the One instead of the lesser expensive model because of my PTSD. The sleep feature has been invaluable in helping me keep track of those restless nights.

It's hard to imagine not having the Fitbit now. I don't have to remember when I did what. It just automatically syncs my calories burned, and away I go!

Reading everyone's posts on the FitBit, really makes me want one!! I have a sportswatch/pedometer, but I always forget which buttons to push to make it do what I want...too frustrating!!

I like simple & easy, and it sounds like this is it!
