I think it was a good choice to do the workout. I can only imagine how much extra energy I would have to put into a workout if I ate 1000 calories for lunch. That would be awesome! I could really crank up the intensity and challenge my body in a way it doesn't let me when I eat normally. When I do overeat (I have a "cheat day" every 2 weeks) I always kick major butt the next day at the gym!!!

Those days happen. You live, you learn, you move on! Good on you for getting a workout in, but don't do it every time... Not a healthy mindset.

so here goes me.......the odd ball in the bunch. I think that you did the right thing. Working off what you ate is better than moping around about it. I made this goal for myself. If I was going to eat something I didn't need I should work it off. So good 4 U in working off those calories. Hopefully you learned to eat better so this won't happen again. but if it does burning it off is the right thing to do in my book.

Having a great and challenging workout is good.

But I agree with the previous poster "punishing your body for being bad" is not a healthy mindset to be in.

I think it helps to look at these things in the context of the overall week. If you are making healthy decisions about eating and exercise for the rest of the week, going over by 700 calories (1000 instead of 300 for lunch) on one day, is fairly insignificant.

Please don't use exercise as punishment for eating bad!

That's great that you feel better, but just realize that you shouldn't do this every time you overindulge a little.

For lunch today I let myself eat something I REALLY felt awful about...1,000 calories! So after moping around for about 30 minutes I decided that if I felt so awful I should do something about it. I did 35 minutes doing intervals on the treadmill and 65 on the elliptical...I burned 1,045 calories..I feel SO much better and I'm getting right back on track. emoticon
