Congratulations! That's a fantastic time! Some people train for months, even years, before they can break the 30-minute mark. Well done!

well I ran my first 5K this past saturday, I placed 38th out of 120 runners, my pace time was 9:23. I* feel really good with that time I quite expected to run 12:00 miles so I was quite thrilled when I crossed the finish line under 30:00, thanks for everyone support and I look forward to the next 5K

You are all set based on your training!

When do you run usually, and when is the race? I would do whatever you usually do on your runs. I have a race this Saturday morning, and I normally go for a run in the morning- I'll eat what I normally do before I run. The only difference for me is that I'll run with other people, and hopefully faster, than i usually do when i go for a morning run.

with the running you have been doing, you'll do GREAT!

eating - the night before, don't eat anything too crazy. I've felt awful at races where I've eaten things like pizza, wings, Mexican food, etc. for dinner the previous night. Before the race - do what you feel. If you are hungry, eat a little something (I'll eat an apple or a breakfast bar). If you don't really want to eat, don't. Just make sure you have something with you for after the race.

you really aren't doing anything different; just running with a large group and possibly at a different time of day. And probably an adrenaline boost.

I ran the Chicago marathon this past weekend where the weather was in the low 40s. I got by wearing shorts and a long sleeve shirt. However, I had a pair of throw away sweats on that I got rid of right before I started.

For me I will wear shorts for anything above 40 degrees. I never have a problem with my lower half getting warm, it's always my upper body I have to layer.

If you're not used to running in the cold I would suggest wearing capris. You really can't go wrong with capris since they give you more coverage but not the thickness of tights or sweatpants.

As for what to eat, I would stick to what you normally eat. Since it's only a 5K you don't need to go crazy or "carbo load." For shorter races I will have a luna bar beforehand and afterwards have a regular breakfast. I would be careful with the post race food. A lot of these races will have a huge spread afterwards (i.e. bagels, fruit drinks, granola bars, etc). Most of these foods have a ton of calories and eating those items would negate any of the running you just did.

Upper 40s is perfect running weather in my book. With that weather you will do awesome at your race.

Good luck!!

No suggestions since I haven't run an official 5K race yet but just wanted to say congrats! And from what you've been running, I'm sure you'll do great!

I am about to run my first 5K in many years, I have been training for quite a few months to achieve this, I have been running 5 miles every other day for the past 4 months and walking the other days about 3-5 miles. The temperature for the day of the 5K is suppose to be in the upper 40's, any suggestions on what to wear and what to eat to keep my best race shape possible.
