Whenever I feel a cold coming on, I go to the gym and get some cardio, sleep more, and take vitamins. That usually squashes it, before it even starts!

If I am congested to the point where I can barely breathe then I skip working out. A lot of times when I'm sick I barely have enough energy to do the basic movements I have to do each day but I still try to get in those 10 minutes of at least walking.

I will continue to exercise with a minor cold. But, if I have a fever or something worst; then I would just get some rest. As some others pointed out already, you have to listen to your body.

I think you should lay off the heavy workouts when you have a cold. Your body sends you signals to let you know what it needs. The trick is to listen to your body. I you are sick the body needs rest and TLC. You have your health you have your wealth.

I woke up with a bad cold this morning. I listened to my body and stayed in bed. I am NOT beating myself up for it.

I haven't had a cold for several yrs. but when I did, I had to go to bed as it usually turned in to pneumonia so thus I wouldn't exercise until feeling better.

I am going to try today. Woke up with a heavy sore throat that I felt all night in my sleep and was incorporated into my dreams! lol I am still planning on doing my walking routine today as so far the rest of me feels normal.

It depends on my frame of mind. I really enjoy exercise, and if I got a cold I would be more inclined now to try to go to the gym (or do that bike ride, or the walk...or whatever I would normally be doing that day). I would feel restless if I missed some form of exercise. Before I got into exercising, I would use the cold as an excuse not to exercise. I would probably wind up taking several days off - up to a week, and then have trouble getting back into my routine. I agree with the posters who say we must listen to our bodies and that some times rest is what will help us heal, but I also know myself well enough to take a closer look and make sure I'm not using a cold (or a lack of sleep on some days, or a very busy schedule) as an excuse not to take the time and move my body. I am getting better at choosing exercise! That being said, on the days when I realize I am not performing optimally, I take it easy and don't push myself. Usually I am back to normal the next day and I feel much better.

It depends on how bad you feel. For me, if I don't need to stay in bed (meaning have really bad fever), I try to exercise without pushing it too much. After the workout I feel much better. The only problem that I usually have is that I cannot breathe well as my nose is stuffed or running, so I get out of breath quickly. That said, if I run, I go slower than the usual, but try to do the same time; if I do a different workout, I just try to do everything without pushing myself to the limit. I feel that I get better sooner when I exercise! I hope that helps.

Even with my asthma, I do exercise, regardless. I just do low intensity workouts. I don't want to break my routine or habits. Instead, I might choose yoga vs aerobic.

Being an asthmatic, I am careful about what I do when I have a cold. I always check how I feel and how my lungs are doing and act accordingly.

I usually exercise through a cold although I may take it easier depending on how I feel. If it's really bad, I rest. You can usually tell when it is time to push through or to rest if you really pay attention to how your body feels.

I usually don't change my routine when I have a cold (unless it's one that puts you in the bed) because I just don't have time to stop. But I mostly still exercise, I don't walk outside but that's when I use my videos.

I developed a sore throat yesterday and today it's turning into a cold. I feel OK one minute, then the next I feel a little light headed and whoozy. I didn't work out yesterday when I felt the sore throat coming on because I was coughing alot, but this morning I did a workout: 40 minutes cardio and and some compound strength exercises with my hand weights. I did fairly well, but obviously didn't perform to my best. I'm glad I made the effort though, but I won't force myself if I really can't face it.

If you haven't eaten much in days, I wouldn't exercise. I tend to be very cautious for myself because any cold can hit my chest and become bronchitis.

When I have a cold I rest and do not exercise. I know my body needs to heal and take it easy. I drink lots of water and take vitamin c and rest. It works for me!

Sometimes I do exercise with a cold and I feel alot better. I just take notice if I am feeling dizzy or can't breath. Factually right now I am not exercising because I am unmotivated. boo.

When you have a cold, do you still make an attempt to exercise? If so, do you do the minimum or do you push yourself? (I have a cold right now... I haven't exercised in a week except for a short walk over the weekend, but I also haven't felt like eating more than a few bites here and there.) Do you slowly get yourself back to your normal routine or do you jump right back to it once you start to feel some better?
