Squats and lunges are great lower body exercises that require no equipment.

I did sign up for the 28-day bootcamp. I can see one big hurdle will be viewing the video on my monitor while I try to do the workout. That will be challenging. I'm going to see if hubby can hook my laptop up to the TV, so my aging eyes can see what to do!

Thanks for the tip on Chalean Extreme. Anything with "extreme" in the name makes me a little nervous. I'm not a warrior. LOL But after I do the bootcamp, I may be ready to look into something more intense. I like the fact it's a longer plan, too.

Great tips! Thank you both!

Have you heard of Chalean Extreme? I am on week 8 and LOVE IT! You definitely work your legs so that will be covered for you:) Also, she has a modifier in the videos as well! Let me know if you are interested and I can give you more info:)

Take a look at the SP 28-Day Bootcamp Workout Challenge. It's a great intro to strength training and all you need is a set of dumbbells (and occasionally a chair). Don't let the name intimidate you, Coach Nicole offers modifications for many of the exercises.

I'm rocking the cardio, on the 22nd day of a fitness streak, but I know strength training is important too.

I'm having trouble getting motivated to do strength training and, furthermore, don't really know what I can do at home with just a set of dumbbells (which is the only equipment I currently have for strength training). I have issues with my joints, so yoga, pilates, and other types of exercise that require me to support my own weight on my joints are out.

Also, I need to work my lower body more than my upper body, which gets quite a bit of toning from my daily rowing routine.

Can anyone help me get started on this? Even just a few suggestions for core and lower-body strength training I can do at home would be much appreciated!

May I also say that while I enjoy cardio, I pretty much hate strength training. So, motivation and encouragement also are welcome!

Thank you!
