Hi _DULCINEIA,

The best thing when it comes to injury is to take some time off from all exercise and allow your body to fully recover. If your foot is not feeling better after a week, then it may be time to see your doc.

The reason you do not want to continue doing even those activities that you are able to is, exercise is stress on the body. You want your injury to receive all the necessary nutrients to fully recover. When you exercise, some of the nutrients will be needed to aid muscle repair and recovery meaning that your foot may take longer to heal.

Here's to a SPEEDY recovery!

Hello, Sparkpeople!

A couple of days ago, I've injured my foot during a workout. I fell bad on it and I hurt a muscle on the sole of my foot, and I can't barely walk, let alone exercise, so I'll just have to stop for some days until it's good again. It is, though, really frustrating having to stop exercising just when I was starting to get used to it, and it was finally becoming a pleasant part of my daily routine! So how do you deal with this sort of thing? Do you try to do strength training that doesn't require you to use the part of your body that's injured (because I hate doing ST with no cardio!) or do you take the time off? Also, after being working out around five days a week for the last month and a half, do you think it'll set me back having to stop for a week?

Thank you so much!
