Stress does interfere. I try to spin or weave to relieve stress. Walking back and forth to work sets me for the day and then empties me out at the end of the day.

A fun workout, like zumba or samba or hip hop dance, is a great stress reliever! Or, before I go to bed, I meditate for a little while. It's a great way to clear your mind and help you get a good night's sleep.

lower my expectations, be brutally realistic with myself
read
slow my pace, if I am feeling frantic to "get everything done" (never gonna happen)
strength train - sweat is a proven stress reliever!
watch a sitcom (King of Queens or Modern Family re-runs)
run or hike
deal with whatever is stressing me out, at least for a few minutes
hot bath
breathe (belly breathing is best - DEEP, slow breaths) and pray
Spark!

and yes, stress and fat and over-eating are all linked for me

I will find strength in pain and I will change my ways....to live my life as it's meant to be.

I've never been overly crafty, but this fall I started a super stressful job and while my coworkers drank their blues away, I started making my son a felt book. I keep adding more and more pages to it, so it might never get done, but it's been a great stress reliever and I'll have something to show for it as well. :)

ALTHOUGH have not been very successful lately - i usually try to have a positive outlook about the stressors in my life. not always easy -
i practice visualization and deep breathing. when all else fails - i still have faith - there is a higher power -

I take a power walk. Once I get going I can almost feel the stress falling off of my shoulders - bonus - it's good for me and it helps me to sleep better so I'm not lying awake and start to get stressed all over again.

We can do this - We will do this!

I usually am stressed because of something I haven't taken care of that needs my attention. I am a great procrastinator. So I try to take of the thing that is causing my stress and then take a walk.

To keep from eating, I'll go for a walk with the dog but because I have anxiety disorder, I also listen to guided relaxation by pschyotherapist, Dr. Eli Bay or hynotherapist Dr. Mike Mandel. It's amazing how well it works. Quite frankly, it's hypnotism but it works.
Stress is my greatest enemy if I let it get the best of me.

If I can do something about the cause of the stress then I look for the solution. If I am stressed and I can't do anything to change the cause then I make sure I am not around food. I may journal, get lost in a book or go for a walk.
I get stressed when situations feel out of control so I grab control where I can by doing something.

The journey is as important as the goal.

Anything I can! Journaling. Exercise: swimming especially, also walking, running, cycling, even ST with weights and bands helps with tension stuck in my shoulders and back. Bath / shower, putting on body lotion. Reading. Massage, pedicure if I can splurge. The more I follow routines and manageable priority lists, the easier stress is to manage.

IAMLOVEDBYYOU,
I find your responses interesting. I do some of the same things. Even as I exercise, I am always running through what I need to get done. I think that is my perfectionism (if I would just do, I think the stress would ease.) As for the cleaning, I am one of those with roller coaster moods. Cleaning, or beginning a project to free myself of clutter for later plans helps. However, I do have some trouble being distracted and staying to one project.
Your response provided was extremely helpful to me. I thank you for sharing.emoticon

I really don't have that much stress, but when I have to deal with it, exercise, spending time with the cats or killing things in various video games helps. :)
