Thanks for sharing. I can't believe it, but when I look at my own self in the mirror, I'm only 10 pounds away (going up) from the "obese" category on the BMI tracker. Instead, I'm working towards a Healthy BMI.

I did a chance to watch a few minutes of the show. This is why I'm working on me, because I no longer want to be a static.
Progress may be slow, but it happens!

The scary thing is it might be more than 43 percent if current trends continue. We have to face the facts, being overweight is big business. With the intense marketing and appealing allure of "diet" foods that actually help make a person fat the truth just isn't that desirable. Because the truth is free but not "New"...people chase lies "fast, easy, quick" Hard work, dedication, determination and old school basics are reserved for the very few. After all marketers told us food brought us comfort so we eat continually, so we are going to be a very comfortable nation but who will take care of us? thanks for posting this SergantMajor.

I find it interesting that so many of the recommendations by the trainer dispute the so called "conventional wisdom". Many of them are unfortunately a tough sell to many who are seeking instant gratification and magic formula for success.
It is called WORK-ing out for a reason. I said getting fit was simple, I did not say it was easy. Cardio burns calories, strength work burns fat. Eat well to lose weight, exercise to get fit You can not build a six pack using twelve packs Often when we seek a magic bullet for fitness we end up shooting ourselves in the foot. I started watching "The Weight of the Nation" series on HBO online and some of the statistics that they were showing were definitely scary as well as some of the real-life stories they showed... they showed an example of 2 different hearts and just the vast difference in the fat and size of them was shocking.

This is the headline for an article in my newspaper today. It has a series of advice suggestions form a personal trainer in Dallas which I think have relevance to many of us here. Here is the link to the article. www.startribune.com/lifestyle/health/15230 9565.html
