I have (and enjoy) the Gold's Gym dance game. It's got latin dance, cardio boxing (my favorite) and mini games.

does anyone know if the just dance has accurate calories burned? I don't think I burned 1300 calories in 5 songs.

I really normally hate cardio work but the Just Dance videos have changed my mind, I have so much fun that I just keep going and even when I am panting and sweating I want to do more, so I am a fan.

If anyone likes the Leslie Sanson Walk Away the Pounds, the Wii has a game called Walk It Out.I used it a lot a few Winters ago and it kept my attention. You basically walk in place to music and collect items and build an entire town.I used the mat from DDR,which makes it easier to keep track of steps.

I have been playing Wii Tennis just about everyday and have been sticking with it and I play so intense that I am losing weight. Love it

Just Dance and Zumba are others that I have and help but my kids make a competition out of it. Now I have to try and beat my sons score in one dance and that will help me lose.

This post made me remember all the wii active games we have. My daughter has all of the just dance, I will have to play it with her! I bought Zumba, used it a couple times, liked it, but always get distracted and laugh when my little ones try to emulate the moves. Also the version I have (not sure if there are multiples) doesn't really have a tone of music I know. I know that sounds nitpicky, but I enjoy it more if I can sing along. I will have to get to it though regardless.

Like some others here, I highly recommend EA Sports Active. It's great for when I can't make it to the gym, and it can be just as challenging -- especially on the lower body workout. I don't recommend Wii Fit, however. There is far too much idle time between exercises, and you don't get the guidance available on Active (not to mention the cost of the necessary balance board for Wii Fit).

I got Just Dance 3 for Christmas. I'm currently trying the Sweat feature with the 7 day challenge. It seems to say that once I hit 500 each day I'm done. I hit that after two songs, but I'm not sure about how many calories burned and such. Whenever I track it on SP it seems to not give me all that many calories burned credit. I would think I'd burn more than what SP is saying because I'm a bigger person, but I'm not sure if it's accounting for that. Anyone have any experience on that? I'd like to be accurate.

The MJ experience really isn't worth the money, in my opinion. My mom got it for me as a gift, and it's fun, but I would've been disappointed had I paid for it myself. Yes, it's a dancing game. But it's pretty basic. Songs are listed easy to hard, and you can pick whatever song you want and dance to it. But there's no way to learn the dance before you do it - you just have to learn as you go, and the Wii isn't the greatest at detecting that you're doing the moves correctly. Like I said, it's a fun game, especially if you love Michael. But I'd assume the Just Dance games are more worth the money (I want 4).

Zumba and EA active 2 are the two others I've been considering... But I need to play some more to just dance (I have 1 and 3, didn't like the tracks of 2 and 4) before I start piling up games (like I did with the DVD- pilates, yoga, etc. I have a nice unused collection!!)

I never heard of MJ experience, what is it ?

I'm bumping this topic, because I finally got to play Just Dance with my heart monitor and in 30 minutes, I burnt 290 Cals and my average HR was 150.

Good way to squeeze in some cardio without even realizing it :)

I've been thinking about getting the Wii Fit Plus and trying this out for a while. However, I can recommend a Wii fitness game NOT to get. That is a Wii game done by Jenny McCarthy. It is the worst and totally annoying and doesn't work right. This game was rushed out to the public in 2009 or so and it was not adequately tested.

I have The Biggest Loser and Zumba. Both are great workout games. On the Biggest Loser game if you play with someone and do the competitions you get a better workout as you have to keep playing until all the contestants are out. I think the Zumba is great. It's a lot like the class I have attended.

Been thinking about the Dance 3. I get these games and then they collect dust. I'm getting bored at the gym. Think I will start using these games.

two years ago, i lost 40lbs playing ddr, and with weight watchers and spark. Well i gained it back. So I'm trying it again. I have both Just Dance I, 2. It's fun but I like DDR better on my playstation, it seems more competitive, plus I can sit on my couch and get high scores waving my arm around on just dance. Maybe Ill have to get the Michael Jackson, I'm a big fan. Any other DDR fans out there?

I love to play Michael Jackson, Active 2, NFL Training, and Just Dance. Does anyone have a good 45 minute workout plan with the Michael Jackson or Just Dance? I'd love to try something different.
Also, can anyone tell me what they think of the Biggest Loser games? Thanks!

I love Wii DDR! I'm not convinced that the calorie counter is accurate, but it's really a lot of fun, and if I stick to the faster songs I definitely get some cardio. After reading this thread, I want Just Dance and Zumba as well!

I have wii fit and the golds gym dance workout and it is too hard for a beginner, I cannot even begin to keep up with the steps, but the boxing cardio is ok on it and the mini games feel like you really get a work out after

I want the zumba game and am thinking that just dance might be a better starter choice for me

That sounds so fun! Makes me wish I had a wii. But I hate normal video games and don't want them in my house. Can I buy a wii just for the fitness and somehow stay clear of regular games?

I first bought 'Just Dance 2' for Wii and was instantly addicted. A couple weeks later i bought 'The Michael Jackson Experience', which is basically like Just Dance, but obviously all MJ songs, and therefore tougher dance moves. I am so addicted to this game that i hardly touch Just Dance 2 anymore. MJ's moves surely aren't easy but they certainly make you sweat!

I have Wii Fit and use Zumba, Just Dance and The Biggest Loser. I love all three. You don't need the board for either one. You can use it on The biggest loser if you choose.

As far as tracking them..I would recommend you get a HRM. Reason being is I have done the Free Step on Wii Fit and they say you burn a certain amount of calories. I believe it was like 25 or 30 for 30 minutes. Which when I did it that was 2500 steps. Your fitness tracker has Free Step listed and when I clicked on it the fitness tracker said I burned 99 calories. Today I did biggest loser for 37 minutes and it said I burned 25 calories. I tracked it under arobics low impact and it said I burned 256 calories. So I don't pay attention to what the game says I burn. Good luck on finding some games you like!

You can't be there for your family if you don't take care of yourself first!!

I got Just Dance 2 a few days ago, and am hooked! I got it because going to the gym and getting on the treadmill for an hour is SO boring and tedious. I found myself constantly watching the timer, and counting down the time until I could stop. With Just Dace 2, I'll go for an hour and not even realize it, except for the sweat... LOL.

Some of my favorite songs are:
"I Want You Back" - Jackson 5
"Call Me" - Blondie
"Firework" - Katy Perry
"Toxic" - Britney Spears (done by a cover artist, though)
"Crazy In Love" - Beyonce (also done by cover artist)

Those are just a few examples, but seriously - once you get started you lose track of time and it's a super fun workout!

I just found this topic on the Zumba Lovers team page. It answers some of our questions about the Wii version: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messagebo

Hi, I have Just Dance and Just Dance 2, but have not used them yet for an excersize video. I think I am going to now but, I still did not see in any of the comments suggestions on entering it into the cardio tracker.
I would love to know how to track it or figure out aprox how many calories I burn while doing it. I don't have any kind of monitor to help.

I also would like any insight on the Zumba. I have the regular workout videos but found I don't get to use it. (long story)

Thanks.

I love the Golds Gym Cardio box game and the EA Active 2. I just bought my husband the Football trainer from EA Sports for his birthday which I am hoping to try myself for a variety.

Is the Zumba game really that great? I want to buy it.

My daughter in law swears by these. She has even gotten my son to do them with her. I have only done it once, but I could see that this would be fun.

I use Wii Active II right now instead.

I recently started using Just Dance 2 and I am hooked. It's a great workout plus it's fun to try and perfect the dances and beat your scores.

For those of you wondering about entering it the calories, I wore a heart rate monitor today when I did it and I burned 415 calories in about 38 minutes.

I like the Gold's Gym Dance Workout. It mixes dance routines with cardio boxing and mini games (like swordfighting and jumping rope). You can select individual songs/games or use the personal trainer (which I really like). The personal trainer uses your preferences to design a different routine each day. It also gives you the total calories burned, which is nice.

I don't know if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find it. I use Wii Just Dance 2 and I am on 6 dance a day, I also use Tony Horton's Ten Minute trainer for Abs and lower body. Does anybody know how many calories are burned using these programs? Also I have Zumba Dance - not my fav, but calories for this one would be helpful also! Thanks!

How do you log your fitness on SP when you work out to Just Dance on the Wii? I've been doing it daily for 30 minutes (just starting up and exercise routine again and it's a good way to start as I love it), but I'm not sure how to log it here on SP.

I know I've got to head back to the gym too, but I'll be honest, with all the people getting back to the gym in the New Year, I hate to go. It's always so crowded. I figured I'd wait until Feb to really start hitting the gym. :)

I am going to run out and get the Biggest Loser tomorrow. I'll let you know! Thanks.

I definately like the Wii because I bought it for my teenage daughter and it was a sneaky way for me to get her to exercise without knowing it. She just thinks it's fun and logged 2 hours in the other day doing the Just Dance 2. I think that if you don't exercise at all or even if you do - it's a fun way to get in fitness, and I agree that it's definately burning more calories than sitting on the couch!

MVISGAK - I don't know about Zumba but for Just Dance 2 you only need the console/remote.

My husband just got me a Wii for Christmas and I love it!! I got Just Dance 2 and it is so much fun, it doesn't feel like work at all even though I am sweating after every song. I do it in addition to my elliptical and strength training workouts and I feel like it is just burning extra calories that I would be storing up by sitting on the couch. Every little bit of movement helps I figure.

I got the Active Sports 2 game for Christmas. I'm 1.5 weeks into the 9-week program. Both my husband and I have had to put it on the "easy" level. My husband started his on "hard" and almost killed himself. I started on "medium" and was yelling at the trainer on the TV! "Easy" is still quite hard (for us at least), it's just fewer reps.

I may have to pickup the Zumba game after reading this topic. I'll probably wait until after I complete the 9-week program on Active Sports 2 though.

I've got a foot problem (plantar fasciitis - ugh) going on, so I'm using the Wii to keep moving without having to 'step' or move my feet. Hula hoop, the numbers game, even the 'chicken flight' (lol) are all non-walking Wii programs. I can stand as long as I don't have to step or walk in some fashion. :-)

My DH got me a Wii system for Christmas. I picked out the Just Dance2 game because I like fast paced music. Is it safe for someone very overweight to use or just limit myself to 15 minutes until I become accustomed to the games? I don't want to overdo it but it is very fun!
I LOVE the boxing and the bowling and the superhula hoop along with the Just Dance2 game.
It definitely gets you sweating!

Just Dance 2 is awesome (a nice improvement over its predecessor). I love the fact that you can add new songs on the fly, but my only complaint is that they cost 300 Wii Points, which equals $3. That's a lot for a song, esp compared to a typical iTunes download. But I still recommend the game, hands down!

Just Dance 2. I got this for xmas and LOVE it! It is so much fun and a great work out at the same time. There are also many more songs than on the first version. Plus you can download more songs if you want. Also I use Personal Trainer. Love it! You can set different goals and it creates meal plans and workouts designed around your goals

I kept seeing the Zumba game while I was out shopping for Christmas gifts and it looked interesting. After reading comments here I think I need to go and pick it up. I have the Wii Fit Plus and just got the EA Active 2 for Christmas. I don't like the resistance bands, so I think I am going to try just using weights.

I got DDR for Christmas (wasn't on my wish list) and I'm afraid, it's not really my thing. I love to DANCE. I find this game is just alot of hopping and jumping. Lots of people love it though. What I think Id really enjoy from the sounds of it, would be Just Dance or Zumba. I have EA Active and Gold's Gym Boxing and find both to provide really good, efficient workouts once you know what you're doing.

Probably a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway - do you need anything special for either Zumba or Just Dance 2 - anything other than the actual Wii console and Wii Motion Plus Control? Like a pad or something that you have to purchase additional to the game?

My Brother and Sister have been doing Just Dance and Just Dance 2 for about a year. They love it. I just recently started doing it with them and I'm really enjoying it. It appeals to all ages. I'm 39, my brother is 41 and my sister is 11 and we all enjoy it. It's funny to hear my sister walking around the house singing songs that are way older than she is!

My sister is very competitive so she and my brother go back and forth trying to beat each others scores. I'm much less competitive so I don't even use the controller. I seriously JUST DANCE!

Our Wii is mainly used by our kids, however, we got Just Dance 2 for the Wii for Christmas, and I have to say it is a great cardio workout. It's so much fun! I just played it today, and when I looked at the clock I had already been on it for 45 minutes! My heart was pumping, and I worked up a real sweat. It is a great way to add variety and fun to a workout routine. I like the idea of being able to purchase more songs, so it doesn't get boring. Now the kids are going to have to share the Wii with mom. emoticon

I have quite a few work out type games. I used The Biggest Loser to help me lose the last couple dozen pounds. Then I got bored with it. It is a good game, I just needed a change. I also have Dance Dance Revolution. It isn't bad, just didn't keep me interested too long. I then bought Your Shape, played it once and it was okay. Now for my gave games! I got Zumba Fitness the weekend it came out. What a great workout and I sometimes do it twice a day because it is that much fun! I sweat like no other with that one! We also got Just Dance 2 and that is a great game also. I have to fight the kids to play it everyday! I love it and it has some great songs. We also just got the Michael Jackson dance game yesterday... Don't work up as much of a sweat as the other games but it's a fun game! I played it for 3 hours today lol Hope that helped some.

I love the dance dance revolution. I got my daughter the zumba game for Christmas and can not wait to do it with her!

God gave me a healthy body, it's MY job to take care of it!

My Fitness Coach is awesome and makes a great customizable workout.

For fun, Outdoor Challenge can get the blood pumping and is nice if you have kids or someone who wants to compete using games that get you moving around. It has a section where you can do short workouts that focus on various parts of the body.

I love Wii. Don't really use it that much for my main exercise, but it can get you active and can help a lot with an exercise program.

My Fitness Coach is a good, customizable workout program, if not loads of fun. It is, in my opinion, truly directed at down-to-business working out.

Wii Fit Plus has tons of fun and some good actual exercising can be had. The yoga is better than My Fitness Coach by far and, as flexibility and balance are weaknesses of mine, it serves a valuable purpose. You can do aerobic type things like the island run and cycling that are fun and have, imo, some beautiful graphics.

Just Dance is great, according to friends and family, type of software. I haven't personally tried it, but others here do it for hours. We own both and I often hear them laughing and dancing around into the middle of the night.

We just got Walk It Out, which is a walking program, because a lot of people seem to really like it. Haven't tried it out enough to give an educated opinion as of yet.

Love my EA Active, EA Active More Workouts and EA Active 2; all have excellent cardio/strength programs but the EA Active 2 comes with a HRM that is right on with my HRM and it ROCKS

I've heard about it. I read someones post about it on another thread & they gave it a great review. It looks like a lot of fun.

I want to get Just Dance 2. The adverts for that look awesome!

Thanks for the info - we just bought one for Christmas and while I like the Wii Fit Plus, it seems that I'm going to "outgrow" it fairly quickly. A friend is getting the Zumba game next week, so am looking forward to taking that for a test spin, too. Anyone already tried it out?

I bought a Wii last weekend. It came with the Wii Sports Resort pack, which has a lot of games included ie. tennis, boxing, golf etc. That has been good fun.

I ordered 2 games off ebay. EA Sports Active Personal Trainer & My Fitness Coach. Both have great reviews on the internet & appear to be alot more beneficial than Wii Fit.

I own Wii Fit Plus and EA Sports Active. They both have the capacity for custom workouts. Active has a 30-day program at easy, medium, and hard levels, but Wii Fit Plus is more DIY.

If that which you seek you find not within yourself, you will never find it without.

I just started using my wii a few days ago and I like wii fit free step and regular step and advanced step. They don't make me sweat too much. If you want more of a challenge, I have tried the dance dance revolution 2 and there is a 3 out with newer songs. It is good too. I have also been using outdoor challenge. I gives a really good workout. It is good to mix it up so you don't get too bored of one thing or so that you are not doing really strenuous exercise every day. I find it to be fun and you don't feel like you are exercising.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again :)

I want to try doing some workouts on our Wii (We never use it!). Can anybody reccommend any exercise or dance games?
