thanks for sharing! I am on day 11, and I weighed myself on dat 8-- a little disappointed that the scale didnt budge. I haven't measured myself yet,but I will on the next fitness test day! Your post makes me feel better about my weight though!

I'm actually on day 87 of the program-yes, 87. :) I'm going through my second round. So far Ive lost 10lbs, and 9 inches around my body. You will see your results through your measurements, more then the scale. It's a program worth looking into...if you can commit and make it through the 63 days-you won't regret it. Good luck, and if you have any questions I'm here to help answer them. :)

The answer to this question depends on your level of fitness. You will not lose weight if you can't keep up with the program. If you have been using other programs and it is growing old, then Insanity is a good fit. If the program is too intense, you will not do it and you definitely will not lose the weight.

My research matches this. I heard that super-hard ("Insane level") cardio isn't great for lengths of time. The program is designed for 63 days - longer than that probably isn't ideal.

Personally, I'm using it to lose weight, then I'll move onto something else. Or I'll take a break for a bit and pull another round. I'm only on day 3 so I'm too early to say for sure, but so far I'm liking it even though I have to take several breaks to finish the whole thing.

I just wonder about the sustainability-factor with the Insanity workouts. They're probably great for a temporary plateau-buster, but I personally couldn't picture myself looking forward to doing those workouts every day as part of a daily workout lifestyle. Those would be dread-factor workouts for me, not "yay!! I get to have fun!" workouts for me. But that's just my own opinion. I realize my idea of fun is NOT everyone else's idea of fun. :)

I just bought insanity and I'm about three days in. It definitely made me realize how little running does for your body as a whole! I'm sore EVERYWHERE! So far, its awesome, its nice not to be doing the same workout everyday, the variety is definitely something i needed to keep me interested!

Also, if you're looking into buying it, look on ebay and craigslist first because you can get a great deal on a used set and avoid having to pay full price!

I did Insanity for over a month religiously! I eat extremely healthy and count every calorie that goes in my mouth. I lost 0 pounds and 0 inches. All I got out of it was slightly increased endurance. I was also really fatigued after doing it. I had nothing left for running which is my passion.

I have lost 5 pounds in the last 3 and a half weeks with TurboFire and love it. It leaves me feeling SUPER energized regardless of how long I do it. Somedays I do 2 or 3 Turbofire workouts. I actually look forward to working out which makes it easy to get up at 4:45am. I use the weighted gloves in my workout too and find I have achieved some really nice sculpting to my body. Love it! I won't go back to Insanity or P90x EVER

Today was my fit test.. I had attempted insanity last year but did not finish due to the fact that i was pregnant. I just finished turbo fire and took a week off and today was my first day back. I am trying to eat from the nutrition guide but it seems like it is a lot if eating. I'm looking to define but if i lose those last 5 lbs it is a bonus.... i just don't want to gain weight..

I'm trying to work up to Insanity. I re-started Hip Hop Abs today. I'm aiming for Insanity or Power 90 by the end of this year.

I am re-starting Insanity today, and I am so excited! I did 30 days of it before we went on vacation, and I loved the tone I got. Unfortunately stuff came up and I stopped before getting to harder workouts. I have to be a bridesmaid at the end of the summer and I really want to look great. I also agree that it is not for everyone.

On day 5 of the workout and I am loving it! I had to take a break after the cardio recovery because my body was so sore. I love it though. Before this, I hadn't worked out for a while. My body felt sluggish and I was really low on energy. Ever since the fit test, I have been bouncing off the walls with energy! I am going to the beach to run, seeing friends, taking walks, feelings calmer, happier, and so much more relaxed! The pain that comes with the workout is so gratifying and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Shaun T. will kick your butt, yes. So, get ready for the work out of your life. Don't focus so much on the scale because you will gain muscle mass that may equal out your weight loss. Not seeing numbers on the scale going down is discouraging. Focus more on the way your body feels, and fits into your clothes. You will see a difference. It's only been 5 days and I already am :). Good Luck!

I did the whole program last summer and am starting again today!!!! I loved the workout and while I didn't lose a ton of weight, I lost major inches and gained major confidence. It's the kind of workout that leaves you saying, "If I can do that, I can do anything!"
If you are a beginner, there are modifications to every move. Don't do the plyo-metrics, do girly push-ups, modify to your level, and you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that one day you can do everything hard core :) Make sure to push yourself a little more than you think you can or you'll never change. ( Always be safe tho)
I kinda love the workout and ShaunT always makes me smile!
Good luck!

the more technical the better. infact, my obliques and shoulders are technically PISSED at me today after shaun t had his way with them! but its a good ache. i think im seeing some improvement in my waist and thighs but i dont know if thats me wishing it or if thats whats actually happening. i wont weigh in until monday though to know the truth. and ill measure again at the next fit test sunday. woot!

if anything, i actually look forward to the workouts. he kicks your butt but i get endorphins afterward and that makes me excited for the next days workout. i dont have the money to buy all the extras like the recovery formula or shakeology. and i follow the meal plan but always am under the calories recommended. but i feel great. so dont let my sluggish weight lost hinder anyone from trying this out!

Spiffybebebaby: Congratulations for sticking with it. And those pesky three pounds were probably just water being held by your muscles. They were probably freaked out by the sudden change in exercise so held every drop of water. Hopefully now that your muscles are "calmed down" (don't you love my technical terms!) you'll see better losses on the scale.

I lost 6.5 pounds in my first 6 weeks, but I am really watching what I eat (I do Weight Watchers). I will say though - I despise cardio. I hate it, especially long cardio workouts. But I absolutely LOVE Insanity. I can't wait to do the Insanity Asylum program that just came out. I plan to keep some of the Insanity workouts in my rotation for a while.

i did the first 3 weeks of this before and LOVED it. i am towards the end of my weight loss and had taken quite a break before so i more gained muscle than anything but it truly is intense!! def for those in pretty good shape to begin with! i'm going to start again today. my son (5) loves "working out" with mommy and he really enjoys attempting this as well!!

so i finished my first week of insanity and i havent lost a single pound or inch (my boobs are getting kinda saggy though) BUT! i have noticed an increase in my ENDURANCE!!! i am able to maintain good form for the exercises and do more of them since i started. and a bonus is that the soreness has almost completely gone away in my calves! i am still pretty pissed that i havent lost any weight but im glad to see improvement in the amount of exercise i can do....

oh and to the poster below me, i dont know who you are referring to with your veiled preaching but if it was me then i wanna let you know i cant JUDGE the workout until im done. i never said for anyone NOT to do it or that it wont give results, just that I hadnt seen any yet and i was discouraged. so yea, i agree, patience IS a virtue. but your last sentence sounded like someone who has never struggled before and seen no results for their efforts...... just saying. you should try it some time. it sucks.

Patience is a virtue. How long is the program supposed to last? Maybe you just need to actually fionish the program and then judge it!

Good luck!

It sucks when you work so hard and dont have the results you think you should but dont give up. I am doing P90x and at first I was pissed off because the results werent happening quick enough for me. I stuck it out through the whole 90 days and I lost over 30 inches and 22 lbs. www.youtube.com/user/qianamcglory

I'm on week 3 and have lost about 2lbs. Still have cheat days but trying to keep my calories in check. I should had that I didn't see the scales move until I incorporated Tae Bo in the evenings or some other cardio, but I can definitely tell I'm stronger on my run and overall fitness. Measurement decrease was the first thing I noticed.

Was at my goal weight when starting it and didn't up my calories so after the first week and a half had to take a break because I dropped to low weight wise. Got my weight back up and have been doing it again, I'm starting month 2 on Tuesday. I love it, actually gained a pound or two this time, but think its muscle. Definitely feel in amazing shape from doing this workout.

I have been doing insanity for two weeks now and have lost nothing. It is really getting me down. I have been eating the right foods and drinking tons of water. I do feel stronger though. I tracked my inches and nothing lost there either. I am thinking about sending it back.

I did this DVD for about a month and I lost no weight. In fact, I gained a pound or two. I was eating healthier and started counting my calories. I began to notice a huge difference in the way my legs look, my quads got a lot firmer and muscular and my calves started showing muscle definition. You definitely gain some muscle doing this video especially in your legs so if you don't lose weight that may be why. Also, I'm looking to lose the last 10 pounds and tone up (if I lose more, bonus!). It's a tough workout, A LOT of cardio, no weights. I ended up stopping because of time (each workout is 45 min-an hour long) and I wanted something that was less demanding for my body as I build up endurance. If you're not in the best shape, start off with something a little easier. I noticed a lot of Jillian Michaels dvd's have similar or the same moves as the Insanity workout but her videos are more doable because she does them at a slower pace or a modified version.

I did the full two months of Insanity back in the fall. I didn't lose much weight to speak of (like another poster, only a few lbs), but I did lose inches and really felt I strengthened my core, chest and back. It also really gave me a good foundation for my marathon training program -- I really felt the difference in my legs when running. In terms of calorie burn, I was burning about the same amount in a 45 minutes spin class or total body conditioning class as I did in the second month of Insanity workouts. As others have said, you can't exercise your way out of a bad diet, so make sure to watch that as well if you are looking to lose pounds. Good luck.

I am on week 2 of my ChaLEAN Extreme/Insanity 16 week challenge to myself and I am seeing great results. I know the strength training with the ChaLEAN Extreme is helping but let me tell you I am burning tons of calories and felling stronger with Inansity. I would recommend it to everyone. While there is a lot of Shaun T showing off his abs (which I love!!!), it's not just hype. Personally, I didn't lost much weight (only about a pound or 2), but I only have vanity pounds to lose, so it's not surprising. It did whip me into the best cardio shape I've ever been in and it made my butt, back, lags, and abs look pretty nice! I followed the schedule exactly till I had a week and a half left and suddenly I got super burnt out; I'm just coming back to it on a modified schedule after a break from it. Don't be afraid of taking extra rest days. I agree with ANDTCKRTOO; this work out is an absolute blast. I have tons of fun doing it, which is why I'm returning to it. It's not for everyone, but if you're looking for something high impact, high intensity, and you can respect your limits, you can do it.

I just started Insanity. I've been going to the gym for about 2 years steady and this DVD showed me that I wasn't doing anything at the gym. I was so sore after the first session and the second session. I'll need at least 2 days rest in between b/c I couldn't walk very well. I have to say...I love it! The instructor really pushes you, it's high energy. I'm not doing everything yet and I have to take breaks sometimes, but if I keep it up, I know I'll be in better shape than I was going to the gym.

I am doing Insanity X (a hybrid of P90X and Insanity). I think it is intense and if I am consistent and keep my diet right, my weight will drop.

I have to agree with Becky when she said you can't out exercise a bad diet. Insanity is a very good advanced program but no matter how good a workout is and no matter how much effort you put into it you want see the results you want unless you are fueling your body with nutritious whole foods and creating just enough calorie deficit (but not too much). As I heard one instructor say 6 pack abs are created in the kitchen.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago and did a week and boy was i exhausted it kicked my butt and I lost a couple lbs the only downfall is I was doing it in our basement which we are in the process of finishing and i was doing it on the cement floor and my knees started to hurt so I decided to not keep doing it until we finish the floor and get some padding

Most exercise programs will work if you put the effort in and EAT RIGHT. You can't out train a bad diet, even with "the best' exercise program.

I agree with Dee - no exercise is a miracle. Yes, Insanity is a good program (and no, not just a show case of ShaunT's abs - that's just a bonus =)), but unless you do it, it won't do anything. It's not easy - it's for the high intermediate to advanced exerciser - but it does give you a good work out.

I do disagree with Rena though - I know many people who find Insanity fun, myself included. I know when I do it, I'm walking on air the rest of the day - it's the only DVD that kick in my endorphins and gives me that runners high.

I think you're weight tracker is wrong, though - if you are looking to lose that much weight, Insanity is probably not a good choice for you at this time.

I have insanity, and its an effective workout because it keeps the hr up, so its not hype. But its not this miracle exercise, if you dont put your all into it you wont get anything out of it. It is HARD, but doable!!!

I think you should go for something more gentle if your not used to exercise- it is not a dvd for everyone- if carrying alot of excess weight you can suffer injuries..
Try sparks workouts, they are real and good place to start avoiding serious injuries.. When you get fitter then use these fancy dvds as a challenge, don't need to get so extreme to loss weight.. It is actually nutrition that is 85% of the battle.. So keep exercise fun- this tape is not fun or easy..

I got the cardio plyo dvd for free and enjoyed it so I bought the set. I start the program on Monday but I'm doing it with Chalean Extreme.

I lost weight with hip hop abs and it isn't nearly as hard as insanity. Your workout is what you put into it. The set is really hard and you need to be really fit to do it.Everyone is diffrent so results vary. I think some people don't go all out and push themselves into that anaerobic zone. I've been doing a lot of advanced workouts like Cathe and Amy Bento this is definately on the level. If you like to jump around and do body weight based strength training then you'd like this.

On the flip side I think the workouts can get repetitive a lot of the same moves are used over and over. I think there are workouts that are just as good as insanity but cheaper like Cathe ,Kettlebell training, Jari Love. Last summer I made up my own plyometric circuits that I would do outside and they were simliar to Insanity but shorter in length. You can even do jump rope circuits that are as hard if you really push the limits.

In short I don't think its hype its a pretty well rounded Intense Interval workout - if you put your heart in it and dig deep!

The reviews are mixed on the net-- I trust the SparkPeople community a whole lot more. Please I'm interested in finding out if there has been any success with this video- or is this just another bit of hype to show off Shaun T's Absemoticon
