Best of Now: Some of my yoga and belly dance fitness dvds

Best of All Time: At one point I'd had a Jane Fonda Step Bench (before my feet went bad); I used that little step bench (it's for home use) with step aerobic MusicFlex, Power Music and Workout Music tapes which music on it was remixed to have an 8 count/64 bar driving beat ...

Worst: Any Jade yoga mat I ever bought. Each of them wore out real quickly.

Worst of All Time: Monark Ergometer exercise bike. Hurt my tush badly each time I used it; this clothes hanger (purchased new, but kept year round in a humid climate down in South Florida), rusted out within a few years,

AND (since health clubs count) my membership at Bally Total Fitness ... I'd done much better [when I'd still gone to gyms at all] with any neighborhood, boutique size gym ... and even New York Sports Club had been better ...

Best.....
Foam Roller, Swowel Sweat Towel, P90X
Love the Foam Roller, great for sore muscles. Hurts but feels so good.
Swowel Sweat Towel, Hands Free Running Sweat Towel, Reflective and Awesome
P90X, Can't get enough no matter how old it is. When I need to get back on track I just put the 1st Disc back in. Back in shape in 1 month.

Worst....
Free Flexor, Yoga CD's that my wife bought me.

Best - Malibu Pilates chair and Cellercise rebounder.
I know some folks hate the pilates chair, yet for me, I feel taller, more balanced and centered afterwards. Good for stretching as well as playing. I notice my balance and grace improving as I regularly am doing the workouts.

I love to bounce, and the rebounder is great for short bursts of activity. I find I think better when moving.

Worst - the machine works fine but it bores me so I don't do it... Gazelle Freestyle.

Best- WII boxing, and some good upbeat music on an mp3
Worst- Masai elliptical, it started making a terrible noise and stopped operating smoothly after only a month! Also, the hand bars lean too far forward to comfortably grip. It's a pretty cheap brand, I guess.

Worst- one of those exercise bikes where you sit leaning back instead of upright- it sat in the garage for years until we finally got rid of it.

worst - a pedometer. I lost mine while walking about a week after I got it. For $2 more I could have gotten one that had an extra clip with a string attached so I wouldn't lose it. Oh well, lesson learned.

worst - elliptical. I spent $1150 on it and have hardly used it although I'm trying to use it more now while my dog walks on the treadmill next to me... seriously - she walks on the treadmill & loves it!

Got them because they looked interesting and I had an REI rebate burning a whole in my pocket. I'm not a runner, but I wear them anywhere I want when the weather is warm. They aren't a winter shoe in a cold climate.

The best is something you will use and the worst is something you hang your clothes on!!

My best is my pedometer I am never without it, the worst is my HRM as it is not as useful for me as I can tell by my own body how hard my workout is pushing me, so I tend not to use it.

The gym and a great pair of running shoes are the two best purchases. I take tons of classes at the gym, I swim, I walk the track, I lift weights, and I do the elliptical. I can't accomplish everything I do there at home. A good gym is worth its weight in gold.

BEST: Good running shoes, gym membership (which I didn't renew as I started college and simply couldn't commit to go 3-4 times a week anymore), resistence bends.

WORST: bad running shoes, cheap mat

My best was the gazelle. I really had to motivate myself but it got my heartrate up and kept it there. (It's in storage while I'm transitioning.) The worst was probably the ab-roller. Or maybe the thigh-master.

I love, love, love my resistance bands and step counter. Also my fitness videos, I couldn't survive with out them.

The worst was a treadmill. That was many years ago and I hated it then and I still hate treadmills!

I love Wiifit, even sometimes just because it weighs you in each time.
Worst, gym memberships (for me) because it takes 10 minutes to get there, the staff didn't enforce the rules, and I'd rather be outside!

Interesting thread!
Best - my Curves membership - lost LOTS of inches (But you DO need to go 3 times a week! - it doesn't work if you don't!) hand weights

Worst - cheap exercise bike, need to get a good one. various little "as seen on TV" gadgets

I'm getting some useful info from this thread.

Best: Forerunner F60 bundle with watch, HRM and footpod, leather skipping rope, stretching board, hydraulic stepper machine, GOOD running shoes.

Worst: Gym memberships I never used, BAD running shoes, any gimmicky workout equipment I purchased and became garage fodder.

worst...gym memberships. I have tried several, but none of them was worth the trouble and expense.
I am just not a gym girl.emoticon

best...good running shoes professionally fit at a running supply store. I have used them for five months now and I have not experienced the slightest bit of foot pain despite regular training sessions (averaging 3 times a week). emoticon

My best is probably my resistance bands (actually, I didn't have to buy them, I got them free from my physiotherapist when i had an ankle injury). Also, dance classes, if that counts as a purchase.
I don't think I have a worst, because I haven't really bought a lot of fitness gear (apart from about 20 pairs of pointe shoes from my years of ballet).

Worst: Back in the mid-1990s we got a Nordic Track Ski Machine. It seemed OK at the store--but I was too damn short for it. The space between the legs was too wide and just didn't work for me. It made a great place to hang laundry, though.

Best: The Wii. It's what really got me back to thinking about myself. And when that little Mii swelled way up in the profile, that was one of the straws that broke the camel's back and landed me here, which is the best thing to have happened in my weight loss journey!

Best: Running Shoes. They were pretty expensive but it was worth every penny.
Worst: Aerobic Stepper. It isn't bad as such but I hardly ever use it. With that said, I might brush off the layer of dust on it and get in a workout today.

A note on shakeweight....lol...silly as they look, I have to admit I was tempted. Even have a friend who owns one and says it really makes your arms sore. But after doing a bit of research on line, the consensus seems to be they won't work. So I'll stick with my tried and true BEST - FREE WEIGHTS!!!
