We live in different states and have been planning on him moving to TX this summer, buying a house and getting married this fall.

We wound up doing things is reversed order ... we found a house that we loved and knew it would be more advantageous to buy the house as husband/wife (legal and tax purposes) so we had a quicky courthouse wedding Jan 6th. There were no frills, no dress, no rings .... just a court official and witness.

We will still have a ceremony / reception with family and friends this fall (with all the bells and whistles) to celebrate. It is nice knowing that we are married even if we are living 1200 miles apart still. It also takes some of the pressure off in planning everything because the most important part has already happened.

I'd say go for it ... life is too short to not be happily married. You can do the celebration when he returns.

i think that sounds like a great idea if it's what you both want! people are more into the party than the ceremony anyway :P

Current goal:
- 32 by end of April.

Next goals: -
39 total by end of May.
-46 by end of June.

Healthy choices and actions have positive impacts, even if the scale doesn't move!

I have thought about that, and there is nothing wrong in it. Everyone still gets to celebrate your big day and so do you. However you have to think about what you want in your big day and will you get it if you do it that way?

My big thing is I want my dad to walk me down the aisle, I can't have that if I elope. So just make sure you think it through, make sure you get everything you want in it before making your decision. and then remember it's your big day, no one has to like what you decided besides you and your future hubby.

My man is going to be PCS'ing in July to another country. We want to marry before he leaves, but I don't feel that there is time to prep for a large wedding. Thinking about eloping and doing a big party in 2015 when he is back. Anyone else done this? What did you think? Would you do anything different?
