We pickd based on when the most friends could come and share it with us.

We chose based on when it would be easiest for everyone to attend. (Vegas wedding so everyone will have to travel.) My family works in education and his sister still has young kids at home, so early summer between semesters was an easy win.

We sent 3 possible dates to the main invitees and were fortunate in that all 3 were fine. So I took the reins and chose the earliest option. Patience is not my best virtue.

This is the easiest hard thing I've ever done.

This is the hardest easy thing I've ever done.

Wow, you and I got engaged on the same day and are in pretty much the same predicament. I've heard that you should pick your date first, but that doesn't make sense to me. Here's what I'm doing:

I really like the idea of a fall wedding, and my fiance wants "Not in the dead of winter or the dead of summer" So that worked out, and I now have a 3-4 month time period picked out. If we can't make it happen in Fall 2010 we'll jump to Spring 2011.

You'll want to figure out who the big players are in your wedding and find out what dates you need to avoid. For example, I know exactly who I want to officiate, so I need to get his schedule from him before I can pick a date. Also, figure out any major holidays that you might want to avoid.

While you're sorting all that out, start scoping out reception venues. If you find a place you absolutely love, you're going to have to find out what dates are available.

If you don't have a date that you know you want, the easiest way to choose is to picture your wedding in your head (what you want to wear, inside v. outside, your favorite season) if you want to wear a short, strapless dress for an outdoor wedding you know winter is out! then work from there.
We both wanted a spring wedding and one of our favorite holidays is Memorial Day because we always go to Connecticut to see his family that weekend. Next year they're coming to see us for the wedding :)

I'm not engaged yet, but I know I've met the woman for me...we're going to run into a problem as far as where to tie the knot. I'm from GA and she's from WA. Hoping for a gorgeous summer wedding in GA though, we'll see.

Pick a special time of year for both of you. Maybe the month that you met, perhaps even the day that you met.

Whichever you choose will be just fine.

As for a state, usually the wedding is in the brides hometown.

I feel you... we don't know a date or even a STATE... he's from TN and I'm from MS...
And we're both sooo undecisive.

Some people pick a date that's meaningful, like their dating anniversary, a date that's supposedly lucky, what fits their work schedules, or even just what dates the venues they want to use are available.

We picked our favorite time of year which is fall. We'll be getting married in October! We didn't care much for a certain date so we went with a Friday which also saved us a bunch... 20% on the reception and loads of extras thrown in for the photographer. Good Luck!

Hi All!

I just got engaged on Nov 1st and since the big announcement the question has constantly been "when's the date?". I have no idea! And I'm not even sure how to go about choosing!

Thoughts?

It ain't over 'til it's over... when's that?
