I am getting married in July 2010. I meet with a personal trainer one or two times a week. He has me doing cardio 4 days and strength 5 days a week.
The strength is broken into different muscle groups to give my muscles time to rest in between. He tends to have me do a lot of exercises that don't use weights but use my own body weight as resistance.
The cardio is up to me on how I want to do it. But it has to be at least 30 mins each time. I normally do Zumba, treadmill, expresso bike, jump rope, wii fit step

Eating healthy - tracking my food on SP has totally helped with that strength training - Buff Brides. 4 days a week now Cardio - Wii Fit! I watch my shows while doing the free step for 30 minutes. It just blasts by since I'm distracted by the show. And I feel great after :)

Right now I am working out 3-4 days a week at the gym for an hour sometime longer. I am doing cardio all 4 days and strength 3 days. I do different body parts each day so I don't overtrain. I hope to do more in the future.

I play dance dance revolution. If I play for an hour I burn 500 calories at least. Plus, it's fun because you get to pick which songs you want to listen to and no two songs are the same!

I do yoga in the morning. I walk at lunch. This is huge because it gets me away from my desk and keeps my stress level so much lower. I run three times a week. All of these things are helping me to be a lean mean marrying machine come July 2010.

Well.. I've been trying to do 3 hours a day of cardio.. but I'm pushing my body too far. I've hurt my hip so badly that hurts to stand and walk. So... resting is key right now and maybe swimming. It would just be nicer if I had my own pool. The gym pool scares me.
I just have to stay on point with my eating while I rest.

Walking is my thing. Before my wedding I walked a mile every morning and then a mile every night with my fiance's family. I had a fairly active job as I worked as a youth pastor at a local church (working with teenagers keeps you on your feet!). I did some weight lifting to keep toned. Mostly I'm just about maintaining a healthy size. :)
Now (a year after the wedding) I'm still the same size I was just because I still love walking. We moved to a new place and my way of making friends has been by inviting girls I meet to come walk with me at the gym. Now those girls are my closest friends! We just walk and chitchat for two hours twice a week. It's GREAT!
If you're having fun - it won't even seem like hard work to exercise! :)
What we do in life echoes in eternity. Strength and honor.

I'm getting married in April 2010, and fortunately I find myself able to focus more on working out in the fall and winter (probably when it's cold out and the idea of being in a gym rather than out in the elements is more appealing) so I'm re-starting my working out, and going to be focusing on upping the resistance when I do cardio, and also on adding in some strength training. (I went to a friends wedding this summer and her arms were ripped and I was jealous.) :)
I'm getting married on 4/24/10. The best fitness inspiration of all!

Hiya, I'm getting married in March 2010 so am trying to shift weight now . I'm watching what I eat (although I do have slip ups ) but the change that has made the most difference to me is I have taken up running.
And guess what?...... I LOVE IT! I would never have believed it! I have been running for 4 weeks following the C25K plan (Couch to 5k) and have lost 9lbs!! and inches all over (except for hips )
I would definitely recommend this plan to anyone it's fab, try googling it and good luck! x

Thank you and best of luck to you!! I know a few of my bridesmaids and family members are looking to get into shape before the wedding too. Of course I don't care about my friends' weight, but I just want them to be happy and confident :)

congrats on your future wedding! You're exactly right, in order to stick with something it needs to be a workout you enjoy! I have to get my butt into gear and start running again!

I'm getting married this December and lucky got down to my goal weight in 2008, but definitely have been working on maintaining and getting even more fit. I've been running (mostly outdoors) because it works best for me in the least amount of time. I find that I have to do other cardio a lot longer for the same results I get from running. I just aim to do about 30 minutes, 5 times a week (about 3 miles at a time) and get awesome results. I watch what I eat, but I still splurge on little things every now and then.
Unfortunately I had to give up my strength training because of a medical issue that I'm getting surgery for in November (I am really, really hoping that recovery goes well!). I can still very carefully to upper body workouts and do exercises without any extra weight. I can't do any ab workouts, which is tough, but luckily running keeps flab from forming there. Prior to having to stop, I was a big fan of the leg press and lunges, which give me great results. I usually lift light weights for my upper body and do higher reps. For my abs, I loved to do crunches on a balance ball or while holding a medicine ball. Hula hoop is also a great ab workout!
Try to keep it fun to stay motivated :) If I hate a workout, I know I won't want to stick with it. I listen to my ipod to make my runs enjoyable, and I wait until night when the sun is down so it's not as hot outside (I live in Texas).
Good luck!

I myself am not a bride to be, but I am a wedding guest to be on October 16th, and I figured what better people to ask about getting into shape for a wedding than those that will be the stars of the wedding! What workouts are you doing? Any favorite toning moves?
A new study from the National Institutes of Health found that the most sedentary individuals are 2.5 times more likely to develop dementia than regular exercisers.
