Answer: False

Explanation: The average American licks her way through almost 5 gallons of the ice cream each year, according to the Canadian Dairy Info Centre, but New Zealanders, at 6 gallons a year, eat more!

Challenge: "Americans" means all Americans collectively, especially when compared to "any other country." If the quiz-writers mean "the average American" they should say so in the *question,* not just the answer.

Five gallons x 318.9 million people in the US means Americans eat 1,599 million (or 1.6 billion!) gallons of ice cream per year.

Six gallons x 4.5 million people in New Zealand means that Kiwis eat a mere 27 million gallons of ice cream per year.

So, "Americans" *do* "eat more ice cream per year than any other country." The statement is "True."

How many calories are in a bowl of New England Clam Chowder from Panera?

Explanation
According to panerabread.com, a bowl of Panera's New England Clam Chowder contains 720 calories. Yikes--that's half a day's worth of calories for some people!

*However, according to Panera's website, the number of calories in a bowl of New England Clam Chowder is actually 520 calories. How does one get SparkPeople to update their answers to questions when they are no longer correct? I'm a little ticked that I got this one wrong.

Running every day is not a good idea. Without proper rest and recovery, your muscles will not repair adequately and you will increase your risk of injury, which could sideline you for days, weeks or even years. It is during the rest and recovery phase that your body adapts to running. This does not mean you can't do other cross-training activities on your non-running days, however.
