Sorry, I misunderstood what you were trying to do, BONNIEB1947. On the Food page, there is a "Search" tab you can tap and then you will be able to enter a food name to search through our database like you are wanting to do. The "Search" tab is on the far left of the tabs on that page, so if you don't see it, try sliding your tabs to the right and then it should display. Hopefully, I explained that good enough for you to find. Let me know if you need additional help with that.

That option appears to be for a food that I know the calories, etc. for; I am looking for a way to begin to type the food and have a list of choices appear as it does on the website. So far I cannot see how to make that happen. It only allows the option you suggest and I can scan.
I have found the app helpful in scanning barcodes; it then will add that food to the tracker, giving me options as to which meal and how much did I eat. (of course, that's not going to work on a cruise!) It would be really convenient if I could also add foods by typing on my app on the phone; right now I don't seem to be able to do that.
Sorry, but the tracking apps still do not have an offline option. Maybe you can track manually while you are away? I know that isn't as nice as using the app; but, it might help to keep you on target even if you just use paper and pen.
Merle, any update with this? I am going on a cruise in a few weeks and I'd really like to be able to track my nutrition and fitness while I'm on the boat, but internet service is very expensive. Any offline options with the app yet?
I don't have access to the net at home. I do access it with my laptop every other day or so at different WiFi locations. Does SparkPeople have a downloadable Windows app which can keep track of fitness and eating?
