Thanks Anne. I'm an IT person and it always seems there's something that could be done differently. Especially on a site that does so much!

Thank you both for your suggestions, I have passed them along!

To elaborate on what I mentioned briefly earlier, the way the tracker calculates points when you are adding from the main area (whether you are using groupings, favorites, or search) is that it adds one point each time you use the "add to tracker" button. The points page populates using the information regarding how many times you added food using that button. Since copying foods is not involved in that top section of the page, you don't have to use that button and do receive points for each individual food item added. Again, I have passed along your feedback and suggestions for updating/changing the way this works. Thanks again for your feedback!

I agree. Another interesting thing, and this may help you if you eat the same things most days, is that the copy function gives you all the points. So you can copy your food from one day to the next and get the full points. It's also just one click per meal period so the response here from SP is not completely accurate either.

Just the information I was looking for. And I also think that seems a bit silly. The points page says you get one point for every food tracked, and the info button pops up:

"Tracking food will quickly teach you what food choices will help you meet your goals and which you should avoid. To get SparkPoints you can go to the Nutrition/Meal Planner page and either:

Use the Add Food button to look up foods you have eaten in our database
Check off items on our meal plans that you have eaten

Points: 1 point for every food tracked
Maximum: 15 points per day (first 15 foods)
Points for Previous Dates? Yes you receive points on the date for which you tracked the food."

It doesn't say anything about it not tracking each food if you add them via groups or multiple favorites. Between breakfast, lunch, and beverages, I track the same 15 to 20 items just about every day (I'm not much for variety Mon-Fri) and adding them singly every day is a hassle. Earning points is supposed to be fun and motivating, not a hassle.

This should really be clarified in the SparkPoints info, or better yet, corrected so that the foods earn points regardless.

Wow, that seems kind of silly. You make conveniences but then the points are less if you use them. Seems like I should get points for the foods I track no matter how many times I click the button.

Regardless, the points really aren't that important to me. It's kind of fun to see them build but I just thought I'd point out what seems to me to be a flaw in the system. I know there are others out there that really care about the points they get.

The other possibility is that even if you weren't adding a grouping, you added several foods at a time from your favorites list. When you add foods, the points are added based on pressing the button to add foods to the day, so if you add a grouping or multiple favorites at once, they will register as 1 point.

I didn't know that and I did add one grouping. However, with the rest, that still should have been 14 items and I only got seven points.

Hi,

When you added the foods for today, did you add any food groupings? When you do that, you get one point per grouping regardless of the number of items in the group.

I've recently changed the way I'm eating so instead of copying food from day to day as I usually do, I'm adding all new menus. In doing so, I discovered the new (at least to me) option of recent foods. When I use that, it seems like I'm not getting all the spark points for the food I add.

For example, today I added 17 items but got only 7 spark points. As a test, I copied three of those meals to tomorrow, a total of 13 items and I got 13 spark points for tomorrow.

So, I think there may be a problem with the spark points awarded when using the recently added list. It may be something else but just wanted to point it out.
