Good morning, PRESBESS!

I heard back from our team and the behavior you mention was actually a recent change on the site. So, it is working that way on purpose to default to your most recently used quantity / servings.

I'm sorry that does not seem to be the way you would prefer it; but, I hope you can work with it without too much trouble now that you know this is working as designed.

Have a good week!

Merle

Got it! Same thing happened to me when I used your approach. I'll go check with the tech team about what you are seeing and will get back with you.

In the meantime, if you click on your Favorites tab and do the search there (don't have to scroll when on the website), you won't have that issue.

I'll be back!

No, I always type the food in the search box, click search and then click on "Foods Manually Entered". I seldom use the favorites tab... to much to scroll through.

Hi again,

Hmmm that is odd. It is not happening that way when I go into your account. On the website, when you say you "selected saltine crackers", did you do that by clicking on the Favorites tab first and then selecting that food?

Hi Merle,

Yes, you did understand my question/problem correctly. I do have my entry for saltine crackers set for 5, so, therefore, each time I select that food, it should default to 5, however, what I have been experincing is that it doesn't default to 5. Instead, it holds the entry from the previous time. I just went to my tracker, selected saltine crackers, and it populated at 2, because that was my last selection. What it should have done was populated at 5, because that is how it's set up.

It does this on all of my electronic devices, phone, home computer and work computer.

Thanks so much for your time and attention.

Hi PRESBESS,

I think I understand what you are saying; but, not 100% so let me know if I get this wrong.

When I looked at your account, I can see the cracker example in your Favorites is listed as "crackers, Saltine (5 crackers=5 servings)" and the default quantity comes up as 5 servings if you go to add that to today from your Favorites. The quantity is defaulting to "5" because you have it entered in your Manually Entered Foods with 5 servings populated. That should not change unless you choose to change it.

I can see that you added that item to your tracker today and changed the quantity eaten to 2 servings. If I go to add that same item again, the quantity still defaults to a 5 since that is how you have it in your Manually Entered Foods. It seems like you are saying it would default to 2 since that was your previous entry; but that is not the behavior I am seeing. If you are seeing it like that (defaulting to your previous entry instead of the "5"), you might try clearing your browser's cache and cookies to see if that fixes things.

If you want it to come up with a default of 1 serving (or something else) going forward, you can edit that in your Manually Entered Foods section. We do not have a way to automatically reset that for you.

Bottom line is it looks to me that it is operating correctly. If you still think it is not behaving as I've described, please let me know and I'll take another look.

Hope you are having a nice Friday!

I've noticed that when inputting a food in the food tracker from foods that I've manually entered, the serving amount is the same as it was when I last entered that food. I really don't like that because now I don't know what my original setting/serving is.

For instance... I may have manually input a food like "crackers", "serving-6", "calories-120", etc. I know "serving" means 1 serving, but, I use that category to imply "each" so that if I have 2, 5 or 6 crackers, my nutrition caluclations for that item will be exact based on how many I eat, which prevents me from thinking in percentage terms.

Bottom line is that now when I select "crackers", it has the previously used serving (which in my case could be 2, 4, 5), so I don't know what number is actually the serving size.

My question to SP is... can I have my food tracker reset itself to the original manually input data after every use like it use to be?

Hopefully I've expressed my question in a way that you understand. Let me know if I've thoroughly confused you.
