The free Diet & Fitness Tracker app that we previously provided is no longer being updated nor supported; and new users cannot get it at all. However, if you already have the free version, it should still work for you. Also if you previously had it, you may be able to download it again. You would have to check in your app store to see if it's there. If you had the iPhone version, you should go to the "Purchased" section of the app store and then click the button that says "Not on this iPad/iPhone".
Thanks! I decided to take a chance and try the app. I'll try it for a few days and let you know what I think. I added today's breakfast with no problems, so it's off to a good start. (And I obviously got logged in all right, if I recorded meal.)
My bad about the app's age. I misunderstood at first and thought you meant that there had not been an update released in over a year. It is as you said in last post, with the most recent upgrade/update being in August 2013.
Thanks for your questions and I wish you the best with whatever you decide on the app.
Have a Sparkly Monday!

Thanks. I'm looking at the info for the app in the App Store, which is only as good as what someone typed in. It says version 1.0 was updated Oct. 17, 2012 and the last update to version 1.4 was Aug. 30, 2013. This suggests the paid app is a year old - or, actually, a year and 4 days old.
That's a good point that some people who were disgruntled with the app maybe hadn't finished signing up. It's unfortunate for any app, but entirely possible that unhappy customers are more likely to post reviews of apps, giving a skewed idea of how good or bad an app really is. I know I was about to review the free app, and that was when I discovered it is no longer in the App Store.
Our iPhone Diet & Food Tracker app has had several upgrades since 2012, so it is not as old as you were thinking. We are currently on version 1.4, which was released in August 2013. I do not know about everyone who reports crashes; but, I can say that the majority of users do not have that problem. Also, I know some of those who had trouble with the app initially was because they needed to finish their online account and goal setup. Once they did that, the app worked well; but, they likely did not go back and update any review they may have posted. Another upgrade to the app is under development though I do not have a release date to share.
I hope this helps. Have a good week!

I currently have the free SparkPeople Diet and Food Tracker on my iPhone. I haven't been entirely thrilled with it, so have rarely used it. I did use it a bit yesterday, and it synched okay to my SP account.
In looking through the App Store, though, it appears this app is no longer supported, as it no longer shows up in the store. In its place is an app with the same name for $3.99. However, this app gets poor reviews, as it appears it crashes more often than not for a large number of users. It makes me wonder if I want to pay for an app that doesn't work and I might not use all that often.
It appears the app has been around for a year and was last upgraded prior to iPhone's upgrade to iOS7. Is there another upgrade in the works for this app?
