Are you also setting a date that you want to met the goal in at the same time? The site has a feature that allows you to either set a date and it will calculate how much weight you can safely lose in that time or you can set a weight goal and it will suggest an end date. If you are trying to do both and it is calculating that you are trying to lose more than (1-2) pounds a week, it may not accept it.

have just joined. Have put in my current weight but when I put in a target weight which is less than the current weight won't accept it. Very frustrating. Feel like I want to give the site a big miss.
