Our barcode scanner is still in beta at the moment and many user-entered foods are there. If your chosen food isn't in the database, however, and you manually enter the information, the next time you scan the same barcode your information will come up.
I have the Android app, and it looks like that might be what you are using. You will see the option to add a food not listed when you are on your food tracker page and click the menu button on your phone. I hope this helps!
