All my food tracker info from 2012 had disappeared! Help! Anyone know why this happened or how I can get it back?

Dumping the cookies and cache will not lose data you've entered into a site. You will just have sites forget who you are so you have to login to them again, but it doesn't affect your data in the site.

Your data is on Sparkpeople's servers, not your own PC. Nothing you do to your PC can affect it.

Hi, Unident. Thanks for getting back to me. I went onto Internet Explorer (which I seldom use). The food that I entered for today was still there--thank goodness, but Thursday's entries are gone, gone, gone. Went to Never Never Land or someplace like that. Actually, I'd had a few minor problems with entries being gone, but when I closed the site and went back to it, they were there. This is the first time that something happened that deleted the whole shebang. I'm a little leery about dumping the cookies and cache, because I'm afraid that it would dump everything I've put onto it so far.

I'll just keep going with the Sparkpeople site, because it seems to be working thus far. I do like how it allows me to make sure that my nutrition keeps balanced, unlike simply writing down what I eat. I had gained weight over the years, especially when I couldn't walk due to knee injuries with much pain. So far, it's the only thing that seems to work for me.

Thanks again,
Sue W.

It's much more likely a cookies/caching issue with your browser than a problem with the site. Do you have access to another browser? Login and check your food tracker - same issue, stuff still gone? Probably not. If not, try dumping the cookies and cache.

If you use a site for 2 months and it's perfect but it has one glitch one day and that makes you doubt whether you can carry on using the site all ... don't you think that might be over-reacting a little?

Sometimes glitches happen. Even if it's not your browser, it hasn't happened before in 2 months, and I've never heard of it happening before (never seen any other threads on it), so I think it's a little premature to be suggesting you leave the site yet. Give it a while. :)

I couldn't find any contact info on the site, so I hope this gets to the right person.

I've been a member for almost 2 months now & have been religiously logging everything I've been eating for that whole time. But at the end of the day yesterday after a full day's logging of food, I hit the link to get the daily feedback. When I looked at it, it said that I'd eaten more than double of what I had. Then I clicked the 'back' arrow & when I arrived at the tracking page for the day IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY as if I'd eaten nothing all day!

Is there any way that the data for that day can be retrieved?

I'm really enjoying the program, but if this is going to happen again, I won't have the confidence in the website to continue.

When I posed this question on another Sparkperson, here's what she said:

"I've been having problems with the tracker for about two weeks now. I enter things, they show up, and, then, when I click on something, the newest data disappears. I suspect it has something to do with new liaisons Spark may have made with other websites, as there are so may switches and names of other sites that flash by as the page resets/updates itself. I have no idea what solution may be possible.

(Please feel free to copy my note into your new topic as a reply. It may be relevant to the SP staff.)"

Anyone have an idea as to what can be done?

Sue Wolfsong
