Under the search box is a link for "Manually enter a food not listed". If you want to put "230 calories" for today's sandwich you can do that there.
Be warned it keeps them and adds them to Favorites though. When I do that, I include the date in the title so I know not to use it again and every now and then clear it out.
But then mostly I don't use that. If I had a sandwich I add two slices of bread, one of tomato, a leaf of lettuce, 40g chicken, etc...
