Hi, everyone. Thanks for the feedback on the recipes. Every recipe in the cookbook was tested twice by an independent recipe developer after Meg or I tried them at least twice, so please don't worry that other recipes are "borked." :) The taco seasoning uses a different ratio than the version we have on the site. The one in the cookbook does contain a lot of cumin. I really love cumin and enjoy this version better (it's smokier rather than spicy). I guess it goes to show that everyone's palate is different. I do appreciate the honesty, and I am sorry that you didn't like the recipe. I hope that you have liked others.
Best,
Stepfanie

Makes you wonder what else is borked.

It's so important in a cookbook to proof read it VERY carefully.

In a novel it's not a big deal if the hero went to "New Yrok" or opened her "umbralla". But when people are following steps the steps need to be exactly right.

In the cookbook, it has tbsp; so again, that's two typos. ;) It's safe to say that the whole recipe in the book is pretty borked.

I would have taken the little 't' to be 'teaspoon' and large 'T' to be tablespoon. Nothing like the old fashioned way of doing it "tsp" for teaspoon and "tbsp" for tablespoon! It removes any doubt.

What doesn't seem right to me is the nutritional breakdown. It seems rather high in fibre, etc., to me

I decided to try an experiment tonight. I wanted to make our usual family tacos with Chef Meg's recipe.

So I tried the taco seasoning on Page 371.

OMG it was awful. Literally, the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. Bar none.

I was confused though, because usually Chef Meg knows her stuff; however, I found the problem here:

recipe=700196

The recipe in the cookbook calls for 3 tablespoons of cumin, 1 tablespoon of chili powder, and 1 tablespoon of red pepper. I triple checked it, and even had my husband look, too. Yep, it's there.

The cumin is THREE TIMES what it's supposed to be! The end result was frankly disgusting. ;) This is something that should probably be flagged for later revisions. Because that's a pretty big mistake!
