I had the old version of the app and it worked well for a couple of months when it went on a Frits. The search function does not work at all. Almost every time I want to enter I get a "dialog box" saying "synchronization complete"... In other words nothing gets registered. As Insaid it happened with the old version somIntook the plunge and spent $3.99 for the new version .. And it still happens. If any tech people see this I would like if you could suggest what to do.

A dietician pointed me to this product because the other app I wuss using was 500 calories out. She set new number ranges for cal, carbs, fat, and protein for me that can be inputted into spark. I don't know if you chose your own #'s but see if you can have them verified.
I HATE THE SP APP!!!!!!!! Everything I track using the app doesn't save to my profile. Yes it's all set up with the same login information and occasionally it will save to my profile. I JUST LOST MY STREAK - AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst program EVER and such a waste of money!!!!!!

Hi, I just downloaded the SP app. I tried adding my dinner and while i can add a full serving of a food, I can't modify the serving size. If I only eat half a serving, I only want to add half. Does anyone know how to work around this?

I was able to get the SP Diet and Food Tracker app when Amazon featured it as the free app of the day. It worked well for a while, now I get the message "Internal service failure. There was an internal error" when I try to open the app. I don't think the problem is with my phone, although I tried rebooting to see if that would help. It didn't. I'm not having any problems with any of my other phone apps.

Is there anyway to get the free app back if I had it downloaded before if I'm using an iphone now instead of an android that I downloaded it on? That app was fantastic! I never had any issues with it ever and from the reviews for the paid version I'm not to keen to spend money on something that seems to freeze a lot.
I got this, I am a strong, wonderful woman and I can do this! I just need to remind myself of this every minute of every day.
I still use the free version I got on the Android app store- if I knew what I'd be paying for I'd probably upgrade, but I don't know that there's any difference.
I don't have any problems with it, and the barcode scanner usually finds what I scan. Sometimes it doesn't, but I figure that's because nobody else has put that food in yet. It gives you the option to add a food if it isn't found.

I have the $3.99 but it would be helpful if the app reminded you to log your food. I'm on droid. My Lose it! app does it, it's great and it helps. I'd rather go the sparkpeople route. Also, the bar code scanner isn't very accurate.

I had the same problem! Every time I try to open it on my iPhone 5, it force closes. It's terrible! So, this morning it was either throw the phone across the room or reinstall the app. I uninstalled it and was going to re-install it when I discovered that they now charge a fee for it. I was going to buy it because in the past the app was solid. I started reading the few reviews and many people have the same complaint about how it works. For the paid version! If someone's going to charge me for something, it better not be so glitchy. It's a shame because I had the app on my old iPhone 3 and then my Android and never had any problems.
Too many free apps out there to pay for one that doesn't work more than half the time. I know other apps don't sync with SP, but I'll just have to see which ones are dependable and make the switch and use the SP website for the social support aspect.
P.S. If I sync with my computer, I might be able to get the app again, but was just going to download from appstore on my phone.

I am terribly annoyed with the iPhone app. DAILY it freezes on me, the fitness part of it. I get the spinning circle constantly. This would be fine if it was a free app. I paid for this app and it never works right!!!!!!!!!! Also, there really should be an easier way to provide feedback, there's NO WAY on the app, and leaving feedback on a forum is ridiculous. I would have preferred to keep my thoughts between myself and an administrator, but I guess I have to post for everyone to see. I do want to add, I love the site and use it daily, I just get very, very frustrated with the app, as I use that WAY more often the I use the website.

We started charging for our mobile tracking apps because they require significant resources to build & maintain, but do not provide much revenue via ads (and we have to make money so that we can stay in business and support our free products)! The site is still 100% free and so is our mobile site that can be accessed on your phone's web browser (mobile.sparkpeople.com).
However, if you previously had the free app, you may still be able to get that back (but it won't be updated).
The process for reinstalling the free version of the app is slightly different depending on where you originally downloaded the app. Below are instructions for purchases from Google Play and from Amazon.com's Appstore for Android.
Option A--Purchased from Google Play Store/Android Market 1. On your device, open the Google Play app. 2. Click the menu button on your phone. 3. From the options that appear, select "my apps." 4. At the top of the page, you will have the option of viewing installed or all apps. Click the button that says "all" to view all apps. 5. Scroll to find the app. 6. To the right of the app title, click the icon that says "free" to install it.
Option B--Purchased from Amazon 1. Open the Amazon Appstore App. 2. Click on the menu button on your phone. 3. Form the options that appear, select "my apps." 4. At the top of the page you have the option of viewing new, installed, or all apps. Click to view all apps. 5. Locate the SparkPeople app from that list and click to install.
I hope this helps!

Just wondering when they decided to start charging for the SP Tracking App on the android market? I downloaded it for free on my last phone a couple of years ago and went to look it up on my new phone and now it's $3.99 :( Ah well, I suppose they have to make some money somewhere ... at least the site is free :)
