Here is an article that helps explain how SparkPeople determined your daily nutritional needs when you set your goals.

Question/Explanation:

Hi. I'm newer to actively using SparkPeople!

My caloric consumption range is somewhere between 1200-1550 which is fine by me. I'm a desk jockey so I set my plan at sedentary however, I walk between 2-5 miles every M-F, use an under desk peddle machine for an hour a day M-F, am working on the Couch-to-5K program (3 days a week walk/run), and attend a roller derby recreation league once a week (eventually leading up to *fingers crossed* making it onto my local roller derby team which will have me participating at three 2HR practices a week - burning more than 1000 calories a session (based on my HRM and recreational participation). I want to continue to lose weight but I don't want to feel "guilty" if I go over my caloric consumption goals for the day even though I know I burn around 800+ calories a day with the walking, etc.

Basically, I like using the trackers and find them to be fun to use while working toward my goals but don't know if the daily caloric goals change to reflect daily caloric burn which would be very beneficial for meal planning, especially on high activity days. Help?

Sarah

Losing weight is hard. Maintaining weight is hard. Being overweight is hard. Choose your hard.
