Day 62:

This morning I did 3 miles WATP. I had wanted to do four, but when I woke up that's all I felt like doing. I also got interrupted twice by my mom while doing the video so that added to it. I went back to bed for a few hours afterwards and slept like a log, which was much needed.

The babysitting day was pretty simple. I got them lunch, got them down for their naps, and then watched them for a couple hours after they woke up. I managed to do some dishes after they woke up. Then as soon as my brother came home I started making an early dinner since my parents and I were planning to leave for the library at five.

At the library, I picked out the Biggest Loser "The Workout" DVD.and a 3 mile WATP video. The latter was all they had of Leslie's videos. I wanted to choose another DVD besides just a walking one and since I've had some luck with BL videos, I thought that the best route since nothing else looked good.

After stashing the DVDs in the car, I took off for a walk. I walked 2.6 miles in 49 minutes, which is an amazing time for being in town and walking up and down hills, walking on cracked and uneven sidewalks, waiting for cars before crossing some streets, crossing one light, etc. Usually when I walk in town, I get really bad speeds due to all these factors, but amazingly I did well and got a good walking workout.

Tomorrow I have to get up at four thirty. I hope to do 5 miles WATP or 3 miles plus the Biggest Loser DVD for 30 minutes, but we'll see what I feel like in the morning. Having new DVDs makes me feel more motivated to get up again. The last one was very unmotivating and uninteresting, nothing to really look forward to in the morning. Then I have the boys from noon to eleven thirty, so I will definitely be taking them for a 1-1.5 mile walk in the evening because it helps pass the time and keeps us all entertained. Hopefully I will feel up to stopping at the park for them to play as well.

Day 61:

Today I got up at nine forty-five. I was motivated for the day but hung around the house a little longer than I should have. It was eleven when I finally got out the door. I made sure to bring a bottle of water since I knew ahead of time I would be walking a really long distance. And boy did I need that water! The sun was beating down on me and I was wearing dark clothes so they absorbed the heat, plus it was humid and 78-80 degrees which is a few degrees higher than I would normally take a long walk in. I took a drink at different intervals (usually around half to three-quarters of a mile) to make it last the whole walk and it definitely helped. The walk took me 87 minutes, which averages to 19.33 minutes per mile. It was four minutes less than the last time I walked the same distance, so I'm happy for that!

Back at home I got another bottle of water, threw a load of clothes in the washer, got lunch, and went on the childcare website but couldn't get anywhere because it wouldn't let me register. I will have to call about that tomorrow. Then I did my strength training, got a shower, made a list of what I'd need for my appointment on Wednesday, made a list of what we're going to sell at the yard sale and prepared a sort of ad for it. Afterwards, I took a catnap before doing dishes and making dinner. About an hour after I finished dinner I took a two mile walk. It was really windy and the setting sun was in my eyes for half of it, it was a drastic difference from the walk earlier in the day. I walked the two miles in 40 minutes.

Tomorrow I have to get up early to do WATP. I also need to make two phone calls for the childcare and to the place I have the appointment at to make sure I'm bringing the right people and papers with me when I go. I only have my nephews from ten thirty till about three thirty, so it'll be a short babysitting day thankfully. In the evening I'm going to the library to return the DVD and hopefully find a new one. I don't know if I'll get another WATP or something else, I just need another DVD for sure. After that I plan to walk around the library neighborhood. It will be a nice change of scenery with all the nice older houses over there. The cracked and severely uneven sidewalks won't be so much fun but I've walked on them many times before so it'll be fine.

Day 60:

This morning I succeeded in getting up at 4:30am to do WATP. I did four miles and about half an hour after I finished, I went back to bed to get a couple hours of sleep before I had to watch the boys. I ended up only watching them for about twenty minutes while my brother helped my mom move boxes. Then she went through them and told him she'd text him when and if she needed more help. Since I was now "on call" in a sort, I needed to stay ready, but I was so tired still and it was difficult to keep my eyes open. So I decided to take the boys for a walk. I wanted to do one and a half miles, but decided not to and it was a good decision because I barely made it the one mile in 26 minutes. I was tired, my muscles needed more rest, and I was irritated.

When we returned, my brother was gone. No one told me why he was gone or anything and my parents were on the porch so I left the boys out there. I had no patience to try watching them inside if my brother had left. It turned out that my mom had sent him out to get lunch for everyone. He got me a buffalo ranch mcchicken and an unsweetened tea, and I was hungry at that point so I ate the sandwich and then looked up the nutrition facts afterwards--- only 360 calories, not bad. The sodium content was way too high though, but once in a while isn't too awful. After I ate I took a nap and ended up sleeping 3 1/2 hours because I took a pill to relax, hoping the pain in my neck would ease by the time I woke up. It did but only for like half an hour. So frustrating.

I took the dog for a ten minute walk, came back and relaxed a bit, and then my mom and I made some rib meat barbecue sandwiches for dinner. I ate mine and then read the book I'm trying to get through on my Kindle. Then I took a walk my myself: 1.7 miles in 36 minutes, which amounts to a 21 minute mile. I felt like I was moving faster but I'm happy with the timing at the same time.

By the time I got home, my brother had returned from spending time with his friend. My mom and I headed to Walmart to get some food items we needed as well as toilet paper which we were running way too low on. I also bought some notebooks since I've been wanting to do that for a while. I got five solid colored one subject notebooks, one purple with butterflies on it, a small cheap journal with heart shaped peace signs on it, a shopping list magnet thing, and a four pack of 3x5" memo pads. I will use four of the notebooks for my classes next month- one for each subject, the other two will be for exercise and nutrition notes from SP articles, the little journal thing will be for me to write my daily calories in and weekly calories burned in, the shopping list thing will be used for my daily to-do lists that help me do what needs to be done, and then I will give the boys each one memo book and use the other two for anything else I want or need to. It feels good to have all those notebooks. I'm a huge nerd and love making lists and staying organized, and it is relieving to know I have the tools to do so, and that I got all of those notebooks for just under $3 (with tax included lol).

Tomorrow I will do a 4.5 mile walk to work towards my five mile goal. I also need to make a list of what each of us needs for some assistance for myself, go online and make a short list of possible childcare providers for the boys soon so that when they call my brother to make an appointment we have the list, and also need to work on some things for the yard sale coming up. The dishes need to be done as well and I will be making sirloin steaks and probably shells and cheese or rice for dinner. It will be a full day, but as I write about it it makes me feel better and more prepared.

Day 59:

Today I got up at nine forty-five. I had a bowl of cereal and took the dog out, and that sort of thing. Then I left a little after eleven. I really didn't feel like taking a walk outside because my hips were really hurting from all the walking on pavement I did the day before, but it was the only choice I was left with since I didn't get up before dawn to do WATP. I decided to walk 4.5 miles and end with a route I like due to the view at the end and the feeling it gives me. I only made it four miles though because I was in pain. I walked it in 79 minutes, which is a 19.75 minute per mile average. I'm glad I'm hitting more in the ranges of nineteen to under twenty minute miles more often. It's an awesome feeling to be walking faster most of my walks.

I had the boys starting at two and will have them for about forty-five minutes longer. The baby is teething and having tummy issues as well as a low fever due to it. I took them for their one mile walk, fed them dinner, let them play, drew pictures with them, and then it was bedtime.

Tomorrow I will definitely get up to do WATP. Then I will go back to bed for a couple hours before I get up at nine to watch the boys for an hour or two while my brother helps my mom look through the shed for things we want to sell at our upcoming yard sale. After that, sometime in the afternoon, I need to take a trip to the place I got my glasses and get the earpieces adjusted. I called and they said they do offer free earpieces adjustments, so I need to get that done, I'm getting tired of my glasses falling down my nose... and also of being afraid they'll end up falling into the toilet lol.

Day 57 (Wednesday):

Wednesday was my rest day. I took my niece to the park, we came back and I got her lunch, then I took a nap. Around five she was picked up and her sister was dropped off. I made spaghetti for dinner. Then I took my other niece to the park. I came back and made brownies because they sounded good. Of course I went over my calories for the day, but sometimes that happens on my rest days. I kept active taking the girls to the park, even played on the playground equipment which I normally don't do. I went up the bottom steps, jumped down the other side, stepped back up, etc. I also ran to try to keep up with my niece on the way back from the park in the evening because she wanted to speed walk, and boy that girl is fast.
*********
Day 58 (yesterday):

Yesterday I took three walks: one in the morning for 3 miles in 59 minutes, one in the afternoon for 2.6 miles in 49 minutes (19 minute mile again finally!), and one in the evening with my nephews for one mile in 24 minutes.

I had the boys from four thirty until eleven thirty. The older one was grumpy when he first came home, but after my brother and parents left, his mood improved drastically. They played for a while and then I got them dinner. He even showed us a new side to his wild imagination when my parents came back. A little before seven we left for our walk. Then it was time for bed.

My brother texted me around ten forty saying he was already done, but right as he texted me the baby had woken up and was fussing so I didn't see the text until twenty minutes later. I sent my mom to get him and it took them FORTY minutes to return when it should have taken only half that. I was a little upset that no one had thought to text me. I was desperate to get ready for bed because I needed to get up early to do WATP.

So I got ready and then sat down on my bed to read some of a book to relax enough to fall asleep. My brother kept talking at a normal volume and even after I laid down and he could seem me laying down, he kept it up. Something was just so important to talk to my mom about that he couldn't wait to talk to her the next day. I was so frustrated with him, seriously rude. Forty-five minutes after I finally fell asleep, I woke up to my iPod crashing into the wall. I apparently knocked it off and then I couldn't find it. I searched desperately for it since it had one of my two alarms set on it. I ended up losing it and crying, and continued to cry because I guess I was so tired and needed a good cry. Then I finally found it but I thought sleep was more important and ended up resetting my alarms for later in the morning.

Day 56 (Tuesday):

Tuesday I got up and set out to take a 4/4.2 mile walk... I ended up turning around before I got to the point I needed to, but then when I was approaching my house, I decided to go around the "neighborhood" and did 4.5 miles! I beat my record by nearly three-quarters of a mile. I have also added a mile and a third in the past few weeks. So much for my planned half mile increments lol. I walked the 4.5 miles in 91 minutes, which was nearly exactly a twenty minute mile. For that distance, that was awesome for me.

I relaxed at home, ate lunch and took a nap. Then I got a shower before my brother and I had to leave to run errands. We went to the library for him to print and make copies of things we both needed, I put the thing I needed in an envelope and we put it in the mail box at the post office, then we went to his work to drop off his paper, and finally ended up at the store. I got a bottle of Propel water because even though I had brought a water from home, I was craving something with flavor in it and definitely didn't want to blow two hundred calories on a soda. Then we headed to my sister's house early to drop the boys off and pick one of our nieces up.

On the way home, we stopped at another store so she could pick out a treat. Off to home we went and I took my niece to the park and let her play games on the computer as well as watch Pokemon on my brother's TV in his room. She ended up staying up till nearly twelve thirty, and being totally antsy for the whole two plus hours before that. She about drove me nuts.

Day 55:

I set my alarm for four forty-five this morning, but turned it off without really waking up. My brother ended up waking me up at six forty. This caused me to be a bit behind on my exercise goals for the day, but I had sort of planned for both scenarios due to not being sure whether or not I wanted to "sleep in" this morning.

As soon as we finished breakfast, the older boy just couldn't stop saying my name and telling me things. He would say my name every couple minutes and I'm not exaggerating. Since it's that TOM and I was still really tired, barely keeping my eyes open, I was really getting irritated. I tried to show patience and respond well each time he said something but I was losing my mind. My parents got back from taking the car to the mechanics, and I decided to take the boys for a one and a half mile walk.

We came home and they had a snack and played for a while. I did my best to make it to lunch time and even threw a load of clothes in the washer, trying to keep busy somewhat. I served them lunch, had a food disaster for my food only... so by the time I actually got to eat, they were done and needed cleaning up, diaper changes, etc. and I had to put the older one in the room. I told the younger one to sit on grandma's chair so I could eat. I was not happy and my food was cold by then even though it had sat in the warm microwave.

Amazingly the older boy was asleep before I even started rocking his brother. So I got him asleep too and into his bed and then I tried to relax. I would have taken a nap, but their naps vary in length so widely, I didn't want to ruin my chances of being able to take a long nap when my brother got home so I held off. The boys ended up sleeping and then staying quiet in the room until just a few minutes before their dad got home. Then I took a two hour nap due to being so tired and having acquired a bad headache by then.

My brother took the boys out shortly before I woke up and they were gone all afternoon into the evening. I did two walking videos off of On Demand, made dinner, and tried to get rid of the headache that was still there. Then I left around seven forty-five to take a walk. I walked 2.9 miles in 58 minutes, which was a 20 minute mile. It was a pretty good walk except for someone had TWO bonfires burning and that certainly didn't help my sinuses and headache any.

Day 54:

Yesterday I got up at five o'clock. I did two SP strength videos: a 9 minute sitting arms and shoulders workout and a 6 minute legs, hips, and glutes (I believe) workout. It was one of my two days each week to work on strength training, but I was half asleep and doing my usual routine felt like it would put me back to sleep or frustrate me to no end. So I looked up the videos and did those instead. Then I went out and walked 1.7 miles in 36 minutes= 21 minute mile. There was virtually no traffic since it was six fifteen when I left and it was only 60 degrees so it was a nice walk.

I had the boys from seven thirty until after four thirty. It was an exhausting day, but we had the house to ourselves for four of those hours. I tried a couple dancing videos from on demand before finding an 8 minute one I could mostly keep up with. I figured I'd try some dancing since it would keep the boys busy and interested while I exercised a little. Then they had lunch and went down for their naps.

Their naps were super short which led to an exhausting afternoon for about three hours before their dad finally got home. I was immensely relieved to have a break at that point. He left with them to go to a welcome home party at a friend's house and they were gone until nine o'clock, which was past their bedtime.

In the evening I took a 2.3 mile walk in 45 minutes= 19.5 minute mile. I nearly matched my fastest mile, but I think the stop to take a picture of three skunks emerging from a drainage pipe is what slowed me down where I didn't make it. It wasn't even worth it because the picture came out blurry and they just looked like a grey glob in the grass.

I haven't been doing well on my calories, except for Thursday and Saturday. I went over by over two hundred Wednesday, two hundred on Friday and over a hundred yesterday. Hopefully I can be on track for the next two days before weigh in on Wednesday. I blame it on that TOM. I had been experiencing bad PMS symptoms since nearly two weeks ago, and it got even worse the past five days or so.

Day 53:

This morning I set my alarm for four thirty, then reset it for four forty-five because I was having trouble sleeping. I got up and did 4 miles WATP. I pressed full workout on the DVD, but fast-forwarded through the third mile. Then I searched for the older boy's sippy cup because I don't know what happened to it, but apparently he had snuck it into his bedroom, where it's not allowed because they spit it out and shake it out all over the place. I texted my brother and let him know because I could hear the kids moving around and playing in there for like an hour before that, so figured he was mostly awake. He found the cup in there and I went back to bed after they came out into the living room.

I slept for a couple hours and then I got up and got ready for the day. I went out with my brother to run errands and helped him with the boys. He had to get some dress shirts for his new job, buy diapers and other necessities, and I also needed to stop by the library to get a new CD I had on hold. We came home and then my mom took me out to Walmart to try to return the gifted DVDs I wanted to get store credit for shoes from. It turns out that without a receipt you can't even get store credit, you have to swap it out for other electronic items. No thank you, I need shoes.

So my mom took me to Payless to pick out some shoes and said that my brother could just pay her what he was going to let me borrow. I grabbed three pair of Champion shoes in my size and tried on the two cheapest: a ten dollar pair and a fifteen dollar pair. The ten dollar ones were the most awesome because they were a dark turquoise and I had learned to really love that color with my old shoes, which were black and turquoise. Those two pairs of shoes were equally comfortable so I chose the turquoise ones.

This evening I went for a walk and my brother asked to join me. I said it was okay and he got an okay from my mom for her "watching" the boys. The baby was already asleep but his older brother was in bed and awake. We walked 2 miles in 41 minutes= 20.5 minute mile average. I took advantage of having him with me and walked down a stretch of road that made me slightly apprehensive, simply due to the abundance of trees making the path dark even during the day. It was a nice stretch of road and in better shape than it's parallel counterpart further away. It also had two small hills that were effective workouts. Having my brother with me was actually kind of fun and I'm a loner type. He walks about the same pace as me, for the most part but some a little faster... and we were both listening to our music in our earphones, so it was mostly a companionable "silence" except for a comment here or there made by me.

Tomorrow I have the boys from a little after seven until four thirty-ish. I plan to get up about five o'clock and take my new shoes for another spin of 1.5-2 miles. Then I need to remember to do my strength training before or after the walk so that I don't forget later in the day. I don't know if I'll get my nephews out for a walk or not, but probably not if my parents go to church and the house is mostly mine for the morning. I'm hoping to take a 1.2+ mile in the evening as well.

I think I'm a day number ahead of myself somehow...

Yesterday the house was quiet until after four. My brother had orientation for his new job and he arranged for my sister to watch the boys since I would already have them in the evening. So I did WATP in my brother and nephews' smelly and cramped bedroom yesterday morning. I did 5 miles with the new DVD I checked out from the library. It is a one mile a day, five days a week program, but it said in the description that you can combine them to do any number of miles... well the only options are day 1, day 2, etc. and then "full workout" which is all five miles. So I ended up doing five miles.

The boys came back and I made them grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner with some peaches and chips. They got full and got down to play for a while. The oldest seemed in good spirits after spending the day at my sister's but his little brother was cranky, which seems to be the norm after his naps these days. I don't know what his deal is, it's like he needs a 2+ hour nap but he can never sleep more than 1 hour and 15-45 minutes at the most. Occasionally he does a two or more hour nap, but not often enough.

Later we went for a one mile walk around the community. I did it in 24 minutes, which is good in my crappy shoes. I threw them away when we got home because they were wearing down even more and I was planning on getting new ones the next day.

I got them in bed, the baby asleep and the oldest nearly asleep before my parents returned from taking my stepsister shopping. I finished filling out an application for assistance online with some help from my mom since it required information about everyone in the house. Then I relaxed until my brother came home.

Day 52:

This morning I took a walk to work towards my five mile goal: 3.8 miles in 76 minutes, an average of 20 minute miles again. I think I will be walking four miles at my next walk working towards the goal, because this distance is only one route and it will get old fast. After the walk I came home and checked my gel insoles because they felt weird for most of the walk. Sure enough, one of the heels is destroyed and falling apart. I will be taking these back to get a refund soon, that's ridiculous.

This afternoon I took a 2.2 mile walk in 44 minutes, another 20 minute mile average. That's the first time I've done two walks with that speed in one day. I broke a record with that and it makes me a bit happy even though I haven't hit my fastest walking mile again since I did it on Sunday, which is a bit disappointing.

I took the boys for a 1.1 mile walk this evening, and it was a 26 minute mile average because we walked along the back road for a majority of it and we were looking at the hot air balloons that were in the sky. It was definitely a treat for all of us. I like seeing things like that almost as much as they do. It's interesting and gives us new scenery to look at.

Day 51 (yesterday):

Yesterday morning I weighed. I had been noticing really big changes in my body and it really showed on the scale. I lost 4.2 pounds in the past week! This made my total for the past seven weeks exactly 20 pounds! Woohoo so excited! I'm also officially in the 280's. It's great to be down in the next tens.

I went grocery shopping with my brother and nephews yesterday morning and it went well. We must have picked the perfect time for the boys to be rested and not cranky. We got a lot of stuff that we needed. Other than that I watched my nephews from twelve thirty to eight thirty. I took them for a one mile walk and a twenty minute stop at the park before giving them a snack and putting them to bed.

Day 49 (Tuesday):

On Tuesday I got up and took a long walk working towards my five mile goal: 3.8 miles again. I walked it in 76 minutes which is a 20 minute mile. I had planned walking nearly half a mile less but when I got to the point where I planned to turn around, I felt like I could walk a little further and still make the trip back. So I went a little further and turned around at the next street.

I took my nephews for a one mile walk and a stop at the park for fifteen minutes while my brother ran to the store to grab a few things. They had worn me down extremely before I left. My older nephew had spit milk out down the side of my bed and then spit more milk out, all while I was putting my shoes on. When we got back his little brother did the same thing on the floor while I was taking the dog out. I had just about had it and finally their dad returned.

Later in the evening I headed out to take a walk. I saw no rain in the forecast, but right as I started my walk it started raining. I decided to keep going and finish the 1.5 mile walk, and I'm really glad I did, but it was not fun at all. My walking speed was even horrible at a 23+ minute mile.

Day 48:

This morning I did 3 miles WATP plus one mile from another walking video. Then I got a shower and had to start watching my nephews at seven fifteen. I had them all day until three. We stayed busy inside until about eleven and then I took them outside and we played for water for a good twenty plus minutes. The wind kind of ruined it and made the "baby" cold. He ended up at the very end, just standing there and shivering a little. So I got them dried off, brought inside, water soaked diapers changed, and wrapped in blankets to get warmed up before lunch and nap.

While they napped, I brainstormed about my "upcoming" vacation to California. I'm thinking of going in nine to ten months or so, but I was brainstorming about exercise options, food options, etc. since I will have to travel by road due to the cheaper cost. So it'll be a bit of a challenge and thinking ahead really does work well for me, even this far ahead. After reading SP articles, I was also brainstorming about how to make it through the winter months because that causes me a bit of anxiety, even now when there are MONTHS before it becomes a problem.

This evening while my mom was at her TOPS meeting, I walked to the park with our local walking/running track. Then I walked around two and a half times. Total distance was 2.5 miles (although I thought it was two-tenths of a mile further before looking it up here). I walked it in a total of 61 minutes... which is a 24.4 mile average. Due to having just put gel insoles in my shoes yesterday (the old ones were worn down in one corner), and wearing socks without a lot of friction, my feet kept sliding around in my shoe and it was a little awkward for my leg joints... causing my hips, knees, ankles as well as supporting muscles to hurt. Plus I had been standing for a while at home cooking before we left the house. Note to self: wear socks with friction until you can buy new and better shoes.

On a results note, my glasses keep falling off today... must have lost enough fat on my face to make it slide down a lot. I tried my mom's suggestion of running the earpieces under hot water and bending them but it's not helping a whole lot. They are men's frames to begin with, but never had this problem in all of the past year and a half since I bought them. Maybe the hinges are also loose. I will have to figure that out tomorrow, I guess.

Day 47:

Yesterday I did 5 miles WATP and about twenty minutes of strength training in the morning, and then went back to bed for a couple hours before watching my nephews. I have been trying to keep as busy as possible with the boys inside the house on days I don't feel like getting them out (away from our porch anyway).

Time goes by a LOT faster also because for the first time in nearly two years, the baby is finally taking a nap in the room with his brother. This forces his brother to be in bed and quiet after his sleeping brother is put in the crib, and he falls asleep shortly after that. So they're finally CONSISTENTLY napping at the same time! They even wake at around the same time and are in good spirits talking to each other. I hope my brother keeps up with it on days he has them for nap time so hopefully they will get into more of the same sleeping schedule at night as well.

Last night I took a 2.6 mile walk with an average of a 19 minute mile! *Does a little happy dance* I finally beat my fastest walking mile after over two weeks. I'm so excited to have beat it. Earlier in the day I had been thinking how I felt stuck at a 20 minute mile. It's like busting through a rut in a sense, although I didn't start feeling bad about being stuck there until the past few days.

Which brings me to my next thing. I need to make a really good walking/workout playlist on my iPod. I have put two CDs on hold from the library, and I plan to go through the songs already on it to make one warmup song, multiple fast and empowering songs, and a cool down song... OR I could make one playlist with slow but upbeat songs for warmup and cool downs to play first and last, and one for fast beat songs for the middle... I don't know yet, but it's something I need to do.

On top of beating my fastest mile, I also discovered that my 2X shirts and pants are really, super baggy. I'm officially in XL-1X shirts and pants! I'm so glad about this too. I have at least four good shirts in this size, a pair of capris my mom got me over a week ago, and a couple pair of longer exercise-type shorts that can hopefully tide me over for the next couple months until I can buy some clothes. The 2X's will fit for probably anywhere from one to three weeks longer before it will be too big to exercise in.

Day 46:

Today I woke up at five o'clock and did 3 miles WATP. I had my nephews from seven this morning until a little after three. It was raining a majority of the day so I kept them and myself busy inside. I did the dishes this morning, threw quite a few bags of trash as well as the main bag of trash out onto the porch in two tosses, and then threw the bags into the trash can during two separate trips to take the dog out. While the boys napped I baked the chicken for the casserole I was planning to make for dinner, and after they woke up I cut it into small pieces.

Usually on a rainy day while babysitting, I feel a bit claustrophobic because there isn't even an option to get out with them and being cooped up with two toddlers and my parents in a house that's too small for us, is very discouraging. But keeping busy and being productive majorly helped ease that feeling and made me feel good.

I made and finished dinner early on purpose, the casserole was done by five o'clock. Usually dinner is about an hour later. I made macaroni and cheese and cut up some of the chicken for the boys' dinner since they don't like the casserole. I made my chicken separate, without oil and with only pepper as the seasoning. I had a serving of elbow noodles with just pepper on them, as well as some broccoli and carrots. It was only 320 calories and kept me full for 2+ hours, amazing.

Later I took a 2.4 mile walk by myself and walked it in 52 minutes, which was just under a 22 minute mile average. Not bad but I felt like I was moving faster. Thankfully my joints felt a hundred times better than last night, although a little sore. The walk was amazing despite the cloudiness and storms coming in soon.

That's my day in a nutshell. Tomorrow I have the boys from before ten in the morning until at least four thirty. I plan to get up and do at least 4 miles WATP from Youtube and my strength training, then later maybe taking the boys for a one mile walk if I feel up to it, and finally in the evening I'd like to take a 1+ mile walk if I'm still feeling good pain wise.

Day 45 (yesterday):

Yesterday was my day off and I worked on my five mile goal: I walked 3.2 miles in 67 minutes, which was a 21 minute mile average. I turned right on a street I normally turn around and head back home at, and walked 4/10 of a mile to the highway and back to the road to myself, so a total of 8/10 of a mile round trip. The newly traveled road was in even worse shape than my usual road and did a number on my joints (in addition to the previous day's activities with my nephews), and on the way back I had to slow down a bit. My hips and knees were hurting pretty bad and felt a little stiff. I did my best to keep a good pace though and it paid off because my overall speed could have been a lot worse.

I came home and rested, and also took a nap because the boys were gone all day and I was relishing the ability to sleep without noise or other interruptions. Then I took a 2 mile walk in 44 minutes in the evening. I had planned three walks for the day, one morning, one afternoon, and one evening for the last "cool" weather day. But my joints were still pretty bad at that point, and it was tough getting the two miles in.

Day 44 (July 10th):

Thursday I majorly lacked motivation and energy to take my morning walk. I ended up finally getting myself out the door and walked 2.2 miles in 50 minutes, which was an average of 22.7 minutes per mile... really disappointing, but at least I got out there. I knew I wouldn't be happy with myself if I didn't. Then I took the boys for a one mile walk, stopped at the park for fifteen minutes, and a half mile walk before going home. That was 1.5 miles in 35 minutes which was only slightly slower than my morning walk.

I had the boys from before two until seven thirty. I was only supposed to have them for four hours, but after my brother got off work he wanted to go to the cell phone store. I ended up having to keep the boys entertained outside while they were in there because they were acting wild with all the shiny cell phones and accessories within their reach. I walked them up and down the sidewalk, up and down in front of the stores, and up and down a steep grassy hill.

After we got home, I took a 1.7 mile walk in 36 minutes, which was a great 21 minutes per mile. The great weather really made for a relaxing walk.

Day 43:

Today was weigh day and I'm down 1.6 pounds from last week and a total of 15.8 pounds! emoticon I was expecting like a pound more than that because that's what my settings are on here, but I know I must have gained muscle weight from really getting into strength training the past week and a half... and also probably retaining water before that TOM. So hopefully I will see the weight melting off again next week.

The weather was great again today and I got the boys out for a one mile walk in their stroller. I walked a 22 minute mile again, which is great. I love the weather being like this. The humidity was higher today than yesterday though but still tolerable.

I'm excited to get back to the exercise routine tomorrow. I plan to get up and walk 2-2.5 miles in the morning, take my nephews for a one mile mile walk in their stroller while I'm watching them in the afternoon, and then take a 1.5-2 mile walk by myself in the evening. Rest days make me appreciate exercise days more lol.

Day 42:

This morning I set my alarm for seven forty-five to take a long walk. It was raining when I got up, so I checked the forecast and saw that it might clear up by nine. So I drank my bottle of water, had a bowl of cereal, and then got ready when the rain stopped. I walked three miles in exactly an hour, again with my 20 minute mile. It's so great to be getting that speed steadily. Then I rested, took a nap, and rested some more before I had the boys at four o'clock.

I also pulled the two plastic bins out from under my bed and went through the small amount of clothes that were in each. I found four tops in size 1-2x that will be comfortable now and two tops in LG/XL that will fit really soon. It was great to find these shirts because I have a low supply of good shirts that fit, and especially comfortable ones to walk in.

Right away we headed out because it was such a BEAUTIFUL day, with a good 70's temperature, a great cool wind, and sunny with a pretty sky and white clouds. It was awesome. I walked with them in the stroller for a mile, stopped at the park for nearly a half hour (awesome time), and then walked another half mile. They played hard and had a lot of fun at the park and so did I, I chased them around and got as active as I could while we were there. The walk itself had a good speed of 22 minutes per mile too, but I know I was faster for the first mile (probably a 21 minute mile) and then kind of slowed down after the park.

After we got back, I fed them and myself dinner and logged my food and exercise. They played a bit and I took the dog out as well. Then we went out onto the porch with six tap water filled bottles to water play. The water was too cold and the younger one kept saying ow, but the older thought it was fun. I had him spill water on my legs and they both got a kick out of me squealing and saying, "whoo that's cold!" I refilled the bottles one more time, this time with warm water and we played more. Then I dried them off and brought them inside. They got a little snack and then it was time to get ready for bed.

It's great being so active and really being able to play with the boys more, but half of the reason it went so well was because of the beautiful weather. Most days the heat and humidity really zaps my energy when we're outside more than 20-30 minutes. The porch isn't so bad because I'm not moving around a whole lot (usually) and we have an awning over it that keeps it pretty cool most of the time.

The day was great all around and I'm feeling in a good mood. Tomorrow is weigh-in day, rest day, and a day I only have the boys for five hours. It should be good. I don't know if I will take them out except on the porch and maybe a walk up and down the sidewalk... especially since they should be taking a nap for at least an hour and a half of the time. I do need to get dishes done. If possible, a trip to the store is in order. We need more milk, bread, veggies, fruit, etc., whatever we can get on the kids' food vouchers that are left... and I'd also like to look at digital food scales if I have the time.

Day 41:

Today I slept past my first alarm, and turned the other off while half asleep and then stayed laying down, falling back asleep right away. When I woke up it was only 25 minutes past my first alarm, thankfully. I still had enough time to do 4 miles WATP but didn't have time to go back to sleep for a short rest before watching my nephews. I survived the day though!

I took the boys for a one mile walk (24 minutes) and a stop at the park for ten minutes. The stop at the park would have been longer if it weren't for my getting bit by two or three mosquitoes in that short period of time, even with bug spray on. After only pushing the younger boy in the stroller for a few days, pushing an additional almost 35 pounds in the stroller today was a bit of a challenge, but in a good way and I still made good timing.

I had the boys until nearly five o'clock. We spent the last hour or so before their dad got home, listening to music and dancing. I was trying to keep busy and not lose my mind before he got home and also keep active enough not to feel sleepy. Then I took a short nap before making dinner because I was pretty exhausted.

Around eight tonight, I went for a 1.7 mile walk in 37 minutes. It was mostly a peaceful and cool walk until the last third of a mile when I encountered an abundance of mosquitoes that kept flying into my face. It's very unpleasant and ruined the last five minutes or so of my walk. However, I'm pretty certain I didn't get any new mosquito bites which is great.

Changes in consumption: I started out drinking two cans of soda per day when I started this journey (improved from three or four before), and also using two to three packets of sweetener in sixteen ounces of unsweetened tea. These past couple weeks, I am down to ONE can of soda per day and only using one packet of sweetener in my tea. My sweet cravings are lessening, without even much effort. It's great! Eventually I can get down to one soda every other day and later once a week or so. I also hope to cut out the one packet of sweetener as I think that's even a little sweeter than I want, and I can drink the unsweetened tea plain. Those will be great achievements.

Tomorrow I don't have the boys until after four, so I plan to get up and take a 2.5-3 mile walk in the morning. Since I now can handle longer walks more often, I want to make the most of it and enjoy myself. Then I will take the boys for a one mile walk in the evening. That will be it and it will be a "low" activity day, especially in this past week.

Day 40:

I was off today, so I headed out this morning for my three mile walk. I picked a route that took me 3.2 miles and walked it in 63 minutes, which equals under a 20 minute mile average. Then I came in and had a banana and nearly a whole bottle of water before doing my strength training. I did three sets of five out of seven of the strength exercises, instead of just two sets like I normally do.

When my youngest nephew woke up from his nap, I asked my brother if it was okay to take him for a walk so he could get a break while his oldest finished his nap. He said it was okay, so I took a one mile walk with the baby. It took me 24 minutes, which is the normal speed lately because it's usually not very cool. When the temperature is low enough, such as 60-70 degrees, I can walk as fast as a 22 minute mile with them. However, this is rare since they go to bed pretty early with my brother. It only happens once in a while when I am the one putting them to bed.

I took a shower almost immediately after getting back. Then I got my homemade gel icepack out of the freezer to ice my knees after the abuse they took on the kitchen floor doing the phones yesterday. They were hurting a bit after all the activity of the morning and early afternoon, but after icing them they felt better for a couple hours... probably mostly because I took that time to sit and relax, get on SP, etc. and wasn't up moving around and putting pressure on them.

After dinner I took a walk by myself, 1.7 miles in 37 minutes, which came to just under a 22 minute mile average. It was a great walk even though it was still quite warm at six o'clock. I enjoyed being away from crying babies, family members, people interrupting me and constantly talking to me or expecting something from me. That was a definite me time. This morning was good but I drank too much water before I left and really had to use the restroom for the majority of my walk.

Today I ate within my calories, right about the middle of my range. This makes me feel good and better about my eating again. I also hit most of my micronutrients ranges, which I do pretty well when I eat within my range. Sodium is always an issue for me, but I do my best to eat lower amounts. It's an improvement that will take more time to get under control.

Tomorrow I have both boys from seven in the morning until around four thirty. So I'm going to get up and do WATP before babysitting, and probably take them for a one mile walk with a stop at the park before lunch. This way my evening can be free to make dinner and take a walk by myself. I just don't see my having the motivation to make a good dinner while thinking I have the responsibility of taking the boys for a walk after having had them ALL day. It's just too much. So hopefully this works out.

Day 39:

Yesterday I woke up and did 4 miles of WATP and then I had my youngest nephew from a little after eight a.m. until five p.m. It was a long day, but easier with just one child in my care. I talked to my sister on the phone and there was a lot of feedback, the static so bad I couldn't even hear her voice at all when it was noisy. So after I got off with her, I hooked up my parents' new set of phones. I thought it would be pretty simple and straight forward, but the cords were more tangled near the phone and internet modem than I thought they'd be. I spent probably a total of half an hour on my knees on the hard linoleum floor hooking the main base up. Then I set up the other two smaller bases up in the places my mom wanted them, which was easy because it didn't require getting on the floor.

Right after I finished that, I took my nephew for a one mile walk in 24 minutes. We came back to the house and I got him out of the stroller so he could walk to and from the park, where he played for about twenty minutes. After we returned from the park, it was lunch and nap time. I got about forty-five minutes of sleep while he was napping, but this rest didn't last too long.

By the time my brother got home, I was pretty exhausted. I had burned 500 extra calories from Sunday of last week until yesterday, so I decided not to take my evening walk. It was probably not the brightest plan other than conserving what little energy I had left from the day, because I sat in the house listening to my nephews scream and cry for the better part of the evening until they finally fell asleep. The older boy was likely overtired from being at my sister's house, where I don't think he naps at all and he was there for three days and two nights so that would make sense. Further proof that even at nearly 3 years old, he still needs a nap nearly every day.

Another thing bringing me down was being over on my calories for three days in a row. I felt like a bit of a failure. Then my cat was acting up too, and she is my baby, that upsets me not to know what's wrong with her. So it all added up and made for a bad day.

Thank you for the encouragement. I looked into one of those kinds of bikes at one point a few years ago, they are pricey. I don't own a bike right now, but I have thought about it from time to time. I'm sure both of my nephews would love it. Maybe some day I can get a bike and a trailer that seats two.

You have been doing great. Can you get a bike and have a bike seat on it for your nephew and take him for a ride? I saw an older woman the other day with one of those 3 wheel bikes and she had the baby car seat in the back strapped in with a 2 year old. She was going down the street by our house. He looked happy. She had an extra large gel seat on it for her. emoticon

Day 38:

Today the older boy is at my sister's until tomorrow. I only have my youngest nephew for tonight. My family and I have no special plans today and my parents even headed out for dinner. So I will make a "regular" dinner for my nephew and I. Then I will take him on our usual evening walk in the stroller, but tonight I want to walk more, around 1.5-2 miles.

This evening I will get him into the sling and walk around our community so he can enjoy our neighbors' fireworks since we don't have our own. Hopefully my mom will join us so I can walk at a slower pace. I also hope that my back and shoulders don't ache too bad with the sling on. It should be enjoyable for both of us.

I got in my exercise this morning: 3 miles WATP. I wanted to do four, but after yesterday, I felt a bit sluggish and my muscles were tired. I had walked about a third of a mile on uneven grass and my joints were hurting because of it. They're feeling better now, thankfully.

Tomorrow I have my nephew from eight in the morning until around four o'clock, maybe as late as five. I plan to get up at four thirty like I have the past couple days and do WATP and maybe a kickboxing video. Then I will probably take my nephew out for a walk in the stroller and in the evening, I will take a walk by myself. I am looking forward to having Sunday off!

ETA: Ended up walking 1.5 miles with my nephew and then 1 mile with him later to kill more time before fireworks would be starting. He found a new word "fireworks" lol, he said it the whole one mile walk.

Day 37:

Yesterday I had an appointment in the morning and then went to the late lunch with my grandparents. We were out literally all day from around nine until five thirty. I only got two hours of tossing-turning sleep the night before. I did well when we were moving around but sitting still made me sleepy.

We went through two drive thrus and then the restaurant for the late lunch. I tried to make wiser choices than I would have before. The first drive thru was before my appointment, and I got a plain small iced coffee from McDonald's (140 calories), not bad. Next was after my appointment. I was extremely anxious, and it was mentally and a little emotionally exhausting, so I was starving by the time we got out. I got a Jr. roast beef sandwich from Arby's (210 calories), also not bad. Then for the late lunch with my grandparents, I got the lite baked spaghetti and ate one breadstick (480 calories total). I did well. But I forgot one detail when I was planning, that my grandpa insists we all have dessert when we go out. I forgot since I haven't been out to eat with him in probably close to a year. I accepted and then ate the whole slice of double chocolate cheesecake. I thought it would be four or five hundred calories at the most, but when I came home and checked online it was 700 calories. Yikes!

I came home and took a nap. Then I got up and my mom said she'd ordered dinner for my stepdad and her. She gave me five bucks and I walked down to Subway (1.5 mile round trip). I ordered a kid's meal with a veggie delite sandwich, apple slices, and a chocolate milk. The chocolate milk had two hundred calories so I put it in the fridge to give to my nephew some other time. The dinner without the milk was 185 calories, which was good.

I added a couple items to the tracker when I added my food, thinking I would be hungry soon... but I wasn't so I deleted those items. With the items, I was four hundred calories over my maximum, but without them I was only about two hundred and fifty over. That's not bad for making some bad choices.

The day in exercise was great: I did 5 miles WATP in the morning, walked 1.25 miles in town in the afternoon, and 1.5 miles to Subway and back plus I did 14 minutes of strength training.

Dang allergies... I just specifically looked up articles about colds, flu, and allergies because I don't know if I'm getting sick or not. I still don't after two separate articles but I'm pretty certain it's just allergies. Itchy eyes don't occur during a cold, and my nose is itchier than normal too. I guess all that time I spent outside is catching up with me. Yesterday I woke up with a scratchy throat, but it went away after a couple hours. Usually when I get sick, I notice the scratchy throat first and think "Oh it's just allergies," but if it sticks around for a day or more, then it hits me that it's a cold. I really hope my deductions from reading those articles are right and it is just allergies. Rain makes them worse and it's been raining a lot lately, so that coupled with spending a lot of time outdoors, is probably the main culprit. I really don't want anything hindering my weight loss right now, I'm on such a good roll and have had an amazing past few days!

Day 36:

Today was my rest day, so I worked on the dishes twice and did some laundry... and this evening took my nephews for a one mile walk in their stroller. It's been a mostly peaceful day since I didn't have to babysit until four thirty.

Tomorrow I have to get up at 4:30 and exercise... I don't have to babysit the boys, but I have an appointment at ten and eating out with my grandparents in the early afternoon, so there won't be much time to do anything else until the evening.

Independence Day is less than two days away... I might have just the baby to watch, or I might have both. I have a plan for both scenarios to keep active. We won't be doing anything special either way really, just making turkey burgers probably and then I will walk the boy(s) around the community when everyone is doing their fireworks so they can enjoy watching some. This day used to be my favorite holiday, now I don't know. The two previous years haven't been anything special and this year even less so.

Day 35:

Since I didn't have my nephews until after one, I took a walk this morning. I walked 2.8 miles in 57 minutes, which is an average of 20.35 min/mile. Then I just about lost my mind until it was time to go for our evening walk. I walked a total of 1.5 miles and 35 minutes pushing them in the stroller, which comes to 23.33 min/mile. I walked a twenty-two minute mile for the first mile, but slowed down for the last half mile after we had stopped at the park for nearly half an hour for the boys to play. Then after we got home, I took them for a small walk up and down the sidewalk. We didn't get to go as far since some neighbors put their trashcans on the sidewalk for trash day tomorrow, and I don't want to risk the kids running into the street to get around them.

Today I found out that my stepdad's parents (my grandparents of course) invited us all to a late lunch on Thursday. My mom told me the name of the restaurant and I was able to look up foods I can have. I plan to have a "lite" baked spaghetti dish (330 cals), possibly a side salad with fat-free Italian dressing (135 cals total), and probably ONE breadstick (150 cals). Now that I know, I can be careful during the morning and plan a good snack to tide me over until we eat our late lunch. It will be nice to eat out, but also nerve wracking smelling all the delicious foods.

My acid reflux is improving in the past month. I went from needing two maximum strength Zantac pills per day and still needing more relief, to going 8+ hours in the day before I need the first and usually only pill of the day. It's amazing not to feel acid and pain in my stomach and esophagus nearly all the time. This is a good result of eating less and healthier.

Day 34:

Despite the bad weather for the majority of the day, I got two great walks in. I also did 12 minutes of strength training with the new list I created. My first walk was this morning and I walked 3 miles in 64 minutes (21.3 min/mile). It wasn't my fastest mile but still a good time. The second walk was right before dinner, 2.4 miles in 47 minutes (19.6 min/mile). The speed for the second was shocking because the humidity was so high that it was a bit hard to take in full breaths, but I pushed on and listened to my body so I wouldn't push it too hard. My stamina has increased so much in the past week even, it is amazing to me.

Today I had my mom take my "1 month progress" pictures. Then I used Paint to create a side-by-side comparison of first the front facing pictures, and then the side facing pictures. It was absolutely amazing and motivational to see the changes in my body made in just a month. I can't wait to keep taking these pictures at the end of each month and comparing them to my before picture as well as each of the previous month's pictures as I go along. I just know it will be amazing each time.

Tomorrow I have to watch the boys from one till eleven. It will be a long evening, but I hope the weather cooperates with me and I can take them for a walk after dinner. Time goes by a lot quicker when I'm able to get them out of the house for a walk. I also plan to get up in the morning and take a walk outside by myself while it's cool, as long as weather permits (which reminds me I need to check the forecast). There was a severe thunderstorm alert from around 3:30-9pm tonight, and I think they have some alerts until the early morning hours as well so hopefully it clears up by eight or so in the morning.

Day 33:

This morning I woke up at four, and decided to just get up and do my exercises. I didn't feel like doing the WATP videos I got from the library for the third day in row so I used on demand: two kickboxing videos in succession totaling 22 minutes and two walking videos in succession totaling 23 minutes. I was able to go back to sleep for a couple hours before having to get up for the day and watching my nephews.

I took the boys to the park shortly after we all had breakfast and they played for a good twenty minutes. I was able to get the boys to leave without incident by pretending and getting the older one to pretend to be an airplane. The younger boy was simply entertained by us being airplanes... the moral, I will use this tactic next time when I take them without a stroller and they're showing signs of being difficult when it's time to leave. We came back home and got drinks and cooled off before heading back out, this time in the stroller. I took them for a one mile walk.

We came home this time and they played until eleven, and then I fed them lunch and got them ready for their naps. The baby only slept for an hour and twenty minutes, waking around one. The last few hours of watching them were a challenge, especially the last two hours after the older boy was awake and out in the living room. On day time shifts like this, they know their daddy is due home any time after their naps and they start acting up or acting hyper, which presents many challenges especially with two of them.

This evening I took a 1.7 mile by myself. It was still hot at six, but there was a breeze... and there is something almost tangible about the freeing feeling I get while taking an evening walk after watching the boys a few days in a row and when I have the next day off to rest, recuperate, and recharge.

Tomorrow I will walk 3 miles, working towards my five mile goal, as well as one or two walks in addition to that. I will also take "1 month progress" pictures and compare them to the ones I took at the end of last month. I think it will be fun to compare and see the changes in my body in the first month.

Day 32:

Today I got up at 4:30am again but this time I did a 5 mile WATP with the new DVD. My energy started to drop a little halfway through the fourth mile but I kept going and by the time the fifth mile started, my energy was back again.

I was feeling tired all morning, even through doing some housework. At nine thirty, I got my nephews ready and headed out for a walk with the intention to stop at the park after walking a mile. However, right as we were finishing the mile, it started sprinkling and I didn't know if it would start raining so I brought the kids home. Of course, by the time we reached home it had stopped sprinkling and didn't look like it would be raining anytime soon so I let the boys walk up and down the sidewalk in front of our house to get some energy out.

Since I was so tired and didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night, I took a nap when my brother got home. I only intended to sleep an hour and a half but slept nearly twice as long. With the chaotic schedule I have of taking care of the boys, and the noisiness when I'm trying to sleep when not watching them, I have to get my sleep where I can. It has been this way for seven months and nearly that bad for the year before when I was just their part-time babysitter.

This evening I made dinner and then around six thirty, my brother and I got the kids ready and out the door. The forecast predicted a thunderstorm at eight fifteen and we headed out an hour and a half before that, but I could still tell the rain was close, so I took the boys to the park first so they would have a chance to play. They only got to play less than ten minutes before it started raining and within a few minutes after that I started hearing thunder. I heard on the news this past week that if you can hear thunder, you're close enough to get hit by lightning, so I rushed them into the stroller and came home.

The rain was done soon after that. I could still hear thunder but I really wanted another one mile walk, like I had been planning, so I grabbed the umbrella and headed out the door for a one mile walk on my own. I could hear thunder along the way, but kept going and kept alert, looking out for any lightning.

Day 31:

This morning I woke up at my planned time of four thirty and popped in the new Walk Away the Pounds DVD. It was quite a bit different than what I'm used to with Leslie Sansone's videos, as it's separate videos programmed to play together, and it kind of threw me off. I did four miles plus a three minute arm strength video afterwards.

Then I tried out a SP workout generator strength routine: one leg squats, wall pushups, boxer move that was more like swimming than boxing, and seated leg raises. None were easy to do with the limited tools and space I have here, so I will not be doing it again any time soon. Instead, I compiled a list of about seven strength training exercises I know how to do well from the past. This will be my strength training routine from now until I decide to try the workout generator again. I will have more control over what I'm doing and will know how to do it without having to look at my iPod screen every two seconds. That's time consuming and a little confusing.

I had the boys from 12:30 and have them another hour, until 11:30ish. That's an eleven hour day for me, the longest in a long time. The baby is asleep and has been for about an hour and a half, but the older boy is either still awake or just barely fell asleep and it's 10:20 right now. I also have them from 7am to noon tomorrow, which means less than eight hours in between the babysitting shifts. I took them for a walk at six thirty, 1.5 miles in 36 minutes. Not my best time pushing them but I feel I kept a good pace.

Tomorrow I need to get up at four thirty again and do WATP. Not looking forward to it, but I need to do it. Then I have the afternoon off to rest before having the boys all day Sunday.

Day 30:

This morning I did walk 3 miles, and in only 60 minutes, which means I walked 20 minute/mile again and this time for a longer distance. It felt great to have such a good time. This afternoon I walked 1.2 miles in 32 minutes (a disappointing 26 minute/mile) in town while my mom was at the food pantry. I go to help take the food out to the car and load it into the trunk since she physically can't do it. Then around five this evening, I walked to and from the library while my parents ate a free meal at a church. I had to get the WATP DVD I had on hold. It was 2.1 miles round trip and took me 44 minutes (21 minute/mile). That's a good speed for not being used to walking away from our rural area and having three stoplights each way. So for today, I walked a total of 6.3 miles and 136 minutes. Wow, that's the most I've walked outside in one day in a very very long time.

Tomorrow I have my nephews for a long twelve hour shift, noon till about midnight. Then I have them again on Saturday at 7am. It's going to be another long weekend. I'm planning to get up at four thirty tomorrow to use the new WATP videos. I don't know what I'm going to do for Saturday yet, I don't know if I will have the energy to get up that early after watching the boys so late, but hopefully I will be able to do it.

Day 29:

I weighed in today, and am down another 2.2 pounds. This makes my total 10.6 in the last four weeks, which means I have reached my first small goal already. I'm ecstatic about this and also being back in the 290's. And I'm excited to start moving toward my second (and bigger goal) of 30 pounds by October 15th. This is going to take a lot longer and a lot more determination, but I'm ready to move forward.

Today was also my rest day and it was the most peacefully restful one I've had so far. Since the boys weren't home, I was able to enjoy a quiet night and get a good 8+ hours of uninterrupted sleep for the first time in a long time. So I rested until about four in the afternoon, at which time I spent about half an hour on dishes while I gave the boys suckers in their highchairs to keep them busy. They kept me busy the rest of the time and then I took them for a 24 minute, one mile walk in their stroller before they left again for the night. Tonight my brother took them to a friend's house since he has tomorrow off.

I was so tired this evening, I don't know why since I had a good sleep. Just watching my nephews five hours as well as doing dishes and taking a walk in the matter of the last few hours, I must have used a lot of energy.

Tomorrow morning I will take another longer walk to move toward my five mile goal. The plan was 2.5 miles, but I might see how I feel once I get out there and maybe walk up to 3 already. I feel motivated to make more progress.

Day 28:

This morning I woke up at four thirty to do WATP. Three times family members came through the living room before I got started and then two times when I was doing the last video. Interruptions that early in the morning should not happen, but it could have been worse. I did a short 14 minute one mile walking video from on demand to get started since I was feeling a bit vulnerable about more interruptions, and it got me well warmed up and ready. Then I did WATP 2 miles twice.

I was supposed to have the older boy today from 12ish to late in the night, but when my brother went to take the youngest to my sister's, he decided he wanted to spend the night there too. He is having fun over there so that is a good thing, and I got a nice relaxing day full of housework. I also got to take an evening walk by myself: 2 miles and 44 minutes. It was perfect.

Tomorrow is weigh and rest day. I will do dishes only, and maybe take a leisurely walk in the evening. It will be a super light day, I really need to rest my joints. My knees have been bothering me most of the past week and my left shin and ankle have been hurting a bit the past couple days.

Thursday I have the day off and plan to walk 2.5 miles. Then my next day off is next Monday, which I plan to start walking 3 miles already to work on the five mile goal. I thought it would take me a few weeks to be ready to up my walks to the next half mile increment, but this half mile increment is happening after two weeks because I feel I am ready to do so.

400 miles in 2014 goal as of today: 81.56

I walked seven miles today total between walking videos and walking outside. I have logged over 28 hours of walking in the past four weeks. Astonishing to me.

Day 27:

Today was a relatively good day. However, last night I didn't sleep very well. I woke up multiple times in a short time frame. I got up at five thirty and did a 14 minute kickboxing video and then left for a 1.5 mile walk that took me 33 minutes.

I watched my nephews from 7:30 until about 1. Then I took a nap because I was so tired, likely due to short and bad sleep and watching my nephews for five hours. When I got up it was thundering outside with audible lightning cracking at least once or twice. The storm didn't last too long and within forty-five minutes had passed. It stopped raining for a while and then started up again.

I decided to take my nephews out because I thought it wouldn't be raining, but it was. So we got them dressed and in the stroller. Then my brother and I got their jackets on them and I got my sweatshirt on because I didn't want to get soaked. It was a light rain for most of the walk and by the last five minutes there wasn't any rain. We walked our whole one mile walk while the boys played in the rain. When we got back I took them for a "tiny walk," we went to each corner and back. I also took the opportunity of no rain to take the dog for her daily short walk.

The day was pretty good. I have just the older boy tomorrow and will start watching him around noon. Since my niece is no longer coming over (last I heard anyway), I will use this time to give him one-on-one attention. It will be fun and more relaxing, and making dinner will be a lot less disastrous since he plays extremely well when he's on his own. It's only with his brother that he's a terror lol. He still will be noisy though, but that I can handle. Noise from one child isn't as bad as two screaming, crying, or just plan squealing and shouting excitedly.

Venting is part of the process... and even though this isn't my usual posting, I'm going to vent here.

On Friday my sister called my mom to say one of her daughters, a soon-to-be nine year old really wanted to spend the night. It wasn't possible that night and the next night was my night off. Since I am the main caregiver for everyone, and especially my sister's kids when they visit, I put my foot down. We figured it out and my brother called her yesterday since he needed to ask her to take his younger son overnight on Tuesday or Wednesday so he could work some extra hours on his shift.

I guess she told him that she could take either of his sons overnight on Tuesday, and when he relayed the information to me I thought he meant that she offered to take both boys. He was busy all day and didn't get back to her so she mentioned to me that he hadn't called her back. We got to talking and she clarified her offer. I said I needed her to take our younger nephew if her daughter was coming over and since my brother wanted to work extra. My brother called her once he was done shaving and things got more complicated.

She decided that she would take our younger nephew overnight Tuesday, but that her daughter wouldn't be coming over to spend the night because of jealousy issues between her and our older nephew regarding my brother's attention. She said that she wouldn't be coming over "for now."

Tuesday night would have worked perfectly for my niece to come over. Wednesday is my rest day and I wouldn't have had to fit in exercise that morning while she'd be here. My brother will be working all day Tuesday and will have to go pick up his son from my sister's by eleven o'clock in the morning, therefore my niece would have only been here for a few hours total with my brother here. It wouldn't have been that big of an issue and we could have handled it.

Apparently control is an illusion. I'm tired of my family. Someone always has to go and ruin a good thing just when everything fits.

Day 26:

I had today off and all of my days off since last Sunday have been spent working toward my five mile goal. So this morning I headed out a little after ten and started my walk. I ended up walking 2.6 miles in 52 minutes= 20 min/mile. The kicker is that the last 1.15 mile was walked with a 19 minute mile. And I still felt like walking more but decided to go home for a little while to cool off and rest my joints first.

About an hour and a half later I headed out again and walked 1.5 miles around my community, totaling 33 minutes. The walk was quite a bit slower due to the higher temperature, as well as my wearing a different pair of shoes that aren't necessarily meant for walking. They are also really old and the soles are really worn down. I threw them out shortly after returning from this walk.

This evening I took my nephews out in their stroller for our usual 1 mile walk in 22 minutes. So I still got a pretty good speed. It's not my fastest with them, but it's only one minute short.

Tomorrow I have my nephews from seven until about twelve thirty, so I plan to get up at five thirty to do a short kickboxing video and go outside to walk 1.5-2 miles before I watch them. Then I want to rest until the evening when I take them out in the stroller.

Day 24 & 25:

Yesterday I woke up at 4:10 and decided to get up and prepare for my workouts twenty minutes early. I did WATP 2 miles twice. I managed to stay awake about forty-five minutes and then went back to bed for a few hours.

I felt sleepy all morning and most of the afternoon. I don't know why. I had the boys from 1-11pm. I made dinner, took them for a 1.5 mile walk in the stroller and also let them walk up and down the sidewalk in front of our house for about 10-15 minutes afterwards.
----
This morning I woke up to my alarm at 4:30 and did my workouts: an 11 minute kickboxing video and 3 miles WATP. Then I had my after workout snack and pretty much went right back to bed after tracking exercise and foods. I got to sleep about an hour and a half before my alarm went off again.

I watched the boys today from 8am-4pm. Since this meant I had them for 18 hours out of the past 27 hours, and I've been feeling so tired the past couple days, I was in a bad mood most of today. I tried to focus on my goals for the day to keep my mind off of my bad mood. My first goal was to get the boys to the park so they could have some outside play time.

This park trip ended in disaster. My almost 3 year old nephew threw himself on the ground and started screaming bloody murder when it was time to leave. I had to carry him home and still keep a close eye on my almost 2 year old nephew. Carrying a 33+ pound child and making sure my other nephew didn't fall or run into the street, coupled with the embarrassment of the whole situation, I was at my wits end by the time we reached the house.

Shortly after we got home, while the older boy was still on a time out, I slammed my right index finger pretty hard into the dresser. It is swollen, stiff, a little bruised, and pretty achy. I hope it's only sprained.

I got in a 10 minute walking video while my nephews were taking a nap in case it rained this evening when I planned to take my evening walk. It sure is pouring down rain and thundering right now, and I would have left about half an hour ago... but instead I took my walk at five thirty. I walked my usual short walk of 1.2 miles.

My collarbone is still a little achy, but not too bad right now. It felt good most of yesterday, but I had minor aches last night and this morning while lifting my nephews at the park and carrying the older one home. So it's gonna hurt a little while longer probably, but it's getting better thankfully.

My brother took the boys out after he got home from work, and it's been pretty quiet for the evening... It's nice to have a little time to relax without children screaming and throwing fits left and right. It's pretty much their bed time so when they get home they should be going to bed shortly.

400 miles in 2014 goal total as of today: 66.96.

Day 23:

Today I had the day off and set my alarm for 5:45 to take my 2.5 mile walk before the heat and humidity would be bad, but I ended up sleeping through it and only woke up at 7:30 when everyone else was waking up and coming out into the living room. So I took my walk, it was gloomy and the humidity was really high, over ninety percent, but it didn't feel too bad since it was only 65 degrees.

I walked the two and a half miles in 54 minutes, which came to 21.6 minute/mile. Not bad since I didn't feel very motivated the first third of the way. I had to work pretty hard to get my speed up to a normal pace rather than being slow. In the early afternoon, I went for a 1.7 mile walk on my own, average of 21 minute/mile for a total of 36 minutes. It was hot by then but bearable for most of the way.

Just as I was about to take my nephews for a walk around six, it started pouring down rain. So we waited for about half an hour and it stopped or slowed down enough and we rushed to get them ready and out the door. We got about two-tenths of a mile from the house and it started to rain harder. I pushed on and finished half a loop and took the kids back home. By then it was pouring again and water was running down my face, making it hard for me to see. I took them out because my mom told them we would go for a walk if they stayed quiet for a while, before that no one had told them and we could have avoided the walk altogether but I didn't want them to be disappointed.

It's supposed to be off and on thunderstorms/raining tomorrow as far as I know, so I think it'll be a day I get up at 4:30am. I somewhat dread getting up this early, even knowing I can go back to bed for a little while, but I need to do it in order to get good exercise tomorrow.

Day 22 (yesterday):

Yesterday was weigh day. I lost 2.2 pounds for a total of 8.4 pounds lost in the past three weeks. I am only two pounds away from my first goal. Since I'm so close so fast, I decided to reevaluate my goals and made new goals in 10% increments of the weight remaining after hitting a goal.

It was also a rest day. I spent a good 45 minutes right after waking up cleaning the living room (which was a lot more vigorous than I thought it would be), vacuuming it and the hallway, sweeping the kitchen, and even threw the entranceway rugs into the wash. I spent nearly twice as much time on dishes in the afternoon as I normally do.

My collarbone is hurting. Ever since my brother crashed the car into a snowbank during one of our bigger storms nearly six months ago, my collarbone hurts every once in a while. A few months ago a friend of mine had to slam on her breaks to avoid hitting a teen who darted into the street, and that made my collarbone hurt again. It's probably some sort of whiplash injury. Yesterday's vigorous living room cleaning irritated my collarbone and it's still aching tonight.

Day 21:

Now it is yesterday since it's after midnight. I got up at 4:30 to do four miles of Walk Away the Pounds, and went back to bed about half an hour after finishing because I desperately needed more sleep. No interruptions this time, I slept through the normal noises. I woke up later feeling more rested. I relaxed until my brother left for work around twelve thirty.

I had the boys until 10:30. The older one didn't fall asleep until around ten, like usual. He likes to stay awake as long as possible most nights. We had a great walk earlier in the evening, despite the stifling high humidity. They had a full afternoon and evening and should have been really tired after all that.

I am really feeling the muscles in my legs, they're tight but in a good way, not because they're sore. It's funny, I never noticed this as much the last couple times I worked out a lot and lost weight. I never had good muscles in my legs in such a short time, it's amazing. Tomorrow is weigh-in and rest day. I plan to clean and vacuum the living room, work on more dishes, take the dog for a short walk, and maybe get the kids out for a very small walk in front of the house but it's supposed to be hot with high humidity again tomorrow, so we'll see. The good news is I only have them for about six hours in the evening and they should be sleeping and/or in bed for the second half.

Thursday I don't babysit at all and plan to go for a 2.5 mile walk. If it's supposed to be hot and high humidity, I will have to plan accordingly and get up at six or seven to go for my walk instead of waiting until later. In a couple weeks I should be able to work up to three miles because two and a half is working so well so far. I hope it keeps up.

400 miles in 2014 goal total as of today: 52.56.

All but eleven were walked outdoors, which means even in outdoor mileage, I am over ten percent of the way to my goal. With WATP miles, I am thirteen percent of the way there. So exciting.

Days 19 & 20:

Yesterday went really well... I took my 2.5 mile walk in 53 minutes, walking a 21 minute mile. Then my brother and I went to the store to get some groceries. I still felt great a few hours later. I took my nephews for a walk and beat my speed of pushing them, walking 1 mile in 22 minutes. Forty-five minutes later I took off my own for a 1.2 mile walk, walking a 22.5 minute mile for a total of 27 minutes. Great speeds and great walks.

Today I was woken up by my almost 2 year old nephew throwing a fit. My brother was just standing there. Really, it doesn't take much to get him to stop throwing a fit if you pay attention but my brother is okay with just letting them scream and cry for quite a while before he'll do anything about it. I tried to go back to sleep but the dog was whining. I guess no one had thought she should be taken out. So I got up an hour and a half before I planned to wake up for the day to take the dog out. It took me probably forty-five minutes of sitting and mentally preparing myself to actually go out and get my planned 2.5 mile walk before I was ready to do so.

I got out for my walk and almost right away I started to feel some pain from chaffing. So I finished the path to go back home (half mile), went in and fixed the problem and headed back out right away. I did the next two miles no problem once I figured out what path to take to get it. I walked a total of 2.5 miles in 55 minutes, which was a 22 minute mile. That's a good speed for issues. Later I was feeling irritated with everyone because even my shower which I should have been able to take without being interrupted, was interrupted. After venting a bit online, I took the dog out for a walk further than usual and had a small snack. Thankfully that made me feel a little better. I also took my nephews for a one mile walk in 21 minutes, beating my speed while pushing them again... WOW.

Day 18:

I set my alarm for 4:30 this morning (for the third day in a row), but was so tired I decided to reset it for 6:15, since I had to start watching my nephews around six thirty. I instantly regretted not getting up because I needed that head start on my exercise. I ended up doing an 8 minute kickboxing video and a 9 minute walking video from On Demand while the younger one was awake. Thankfully he stayed out of the way, mostly just stared at me like what the heck? lol.

I took the boys to the park to play and for a "tiny walk," their new favorite phrase, which basically just means walking them to the street corners and back. It is way too exhausting to take them on longer walks and just depletes me so I decided to take them for a tiny walk one day, and we went to the corners and back three times. They get to exercise a little but we're never too far from home in case one or both start misbehaving.

I took a 1.6 mile walk around 3, and planned to head out again at 7 when it started getting cooler, but dinner wasn't ready until 7 and I spent a lot of time standing... so by the time I actually go out, my hips were bothering me. I made it 15 minutes and 6/10 of a mile only, when I really wanted to walk about twice as far. Oh well, it was better than nothing.

Tomorrow morning I plan to try to walk 2.5 miles at once, which is my next half mile increment to get me moving towards my five mile plan. I'm excited to get moving on it, and am hoping my joints don't ache as much.

Day 17:

Yesterday I did my first workout with the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds DVD I checked out from the library (the 2 mile then the 1 mile) and it went super well, made me feel great. I forgot how much I missed exercising with her videos. I also took a 1.2 mile walk by myself and a 1 mile walk with my nephews.

While I was on my morning walk, I halfway devised a distance guideline for my 5 mile goal, giving myself three weeks to reach each half mile. I even drew maps for routes I can use to reach each half mile threshold. Next one I need to walk at once is 2.5 miles. I need to start working on that on Sunday morning since I have the day off, and then again on Monday if possible.

This morning I did an 8 minute kickboxing video as well as 3 miles with Walk Away the Pounds again. Then this afternoon and evening I took my nephews for two, one mile walks around our community for a total of 50 minutes. The second walk ended up being a long mile because I pushed their stroller on the back road, which is tough to do since it's not an all-terrain stroller. I was trying to give them and myself a change of scenery.

I didn't do so well with my food yesterday and today, but am staying in range just making bad choices. I'm a little disappointed with myself for that. I am still doing well with water intake though.

400 miles in 2014 goal as of today: 36.86.

It's crazy that with WATP, I've added a whopping 10 miles in just two days! I am trying to get outside walks each day unless I feel I need to give my joints a break from the impact of walking on cement/asphalt.

Day 15:

Today was my rest day. I did the dishes, some other housework, took the boys for two slower walks, and took the dog for a walk. The day outside of eating and exercise was a little stressful, yet boring at the same time. I'm looking forward to doing the Leslie Sansone video tomorrow morning and going back to really working out.

My morning weigh-in went well and I'm down another pound, making my total 6.2 pounds. I'm getting super close to my first goal.

Yesterday I put in the total from the day before that, for some reason. I guess I hadn't updated my document where I've been keeping track of the mileage.

Day 14:

Today I checked out a Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds DVD from the library. I miss the one I used to have and plan to buy a new one when I have the money in a few months, but for now I will alternate between different videos of hers through checking them out from the library... I also went on YouTube last night and found her Exercise TV videos with 1, 2 & 3 mile walks. AND I found one of the old kickboxing videos I used to do and love on there as well, a 21 minute long one that was such a challenge and I loved it. So glad to have found it again!

I had two great workouts today: nearly an hour this morning and a half hour this afternoon, the kickboxing video I mentioned above plus four short walking videos (the 1 mile with Leslie Sansone was one). It was great to get my whole workout indoors since it rained off and on all day long. I had already planned to exercise strictly indoors because my body needed a break from walking on the cement/asphalt, so it worked out.

Tomorrow's both my weigh-in day, as well as my rest day. Both make me slightly nervous, but I will get the weighing done early in the day, of course. Then I will keep myself as busy as possible throughout the day by doing housework and taking my nephews for a leisurely walk in the evening for about twenty minutes. It will allow my muscles to rest but keep me physically busy at the same time, keeping me from feeling restless all day.

400 miles in 2014 goal total as of today: 23 miles.

I should be adding miles more quickly now that I have Leslie Sansone videos to do!

Day 13:

I'm ecstatic that I'm already noticing great results. One of my bigger shirts is starting to shift around more when I'm out walking, becoming lopsided repeatedly. I had to fix it many times during my walk this morning. Last week I thought my stomach looked a little bit smaller and this week it feels smaller to me. It's exciting that in less than two weeks I'm noticing these results.

This morning I walked 2.2 miles in 45 minutes, which is an average of 20.45 minutes per mile. I walked the first 1.2 miles for less than 21 minutes per mile, then I walked exactly 1 mile around my community and beat my own record with a 20 minute mile. I was so shocked. I did push myself a bit inside the community because of all the twists and turns that usually slow me down. Upbeat music helped me keep a good pace too.

Day 11:

This morning I did 42 minutes of walking videos and felt great afterwards. It was the perfect intensity, the perfect types of moves for my joints and muscles. My feet needed a break from pounding the pavement, even if it was only for the morning.

Later I took my nephews for a half hour walk and a stop at the park for about twenty minutes so they could play. This is the sixth day in a row I've watched them this week, and will be watching them tomorrow too unless by some surprise my brother found someone else to do it. It's exhausting to watch them and I get very emotional when I do it too often, because it's not just a matter of watching them. The house isn't properly child-proofed so it's constant high alert. They never nap at the same time because their sleep needs are drastically different. And to deal with my stepdad's grumpiness constantly, especially when there is any kind of noise... and KIDS are noisy no matter how much you try to keep them quiet(er).

I was able to get a good nap after my brother got home, thankfully because I could barely keep my eyes open the last hour or so before he came home. Then I took a half hour walk on my own. It was gloomy, getting ready for the storm tonight, and there wasn't a whole lot of sunlight, so it was a little creepy but I did it and felt good.

Tomorrow my plan is to do only 25 minutes of workout videos in the morning and take a 30-40 minute walk in the evening by myself if weather permits. I'm sure my body needs a lighter activity day after go-go-going for the past three days.

I'm still doing well with my food choices and getting more in my calorie range. Today I'm trying to hit the higher end of the calorie range since I burned so many calories, but it's difficult to hit the higher end.

Day 10:

Walking Goals:
*Walk 5 miles at once by November 1st
*Walk 400 miles total by the end of 2014

For the first goal, I have a route mapped out in my head that will allow me to stay somewhat close to home the whole walk in case something happens.

And for the second goal, I'm keeping a word document with a table for each month and mileage for each day in the tables. So far I have logged 16.76 miles this year and I'm just getting started.

Day 9:

Today was a great day... I took a walk this morning on my own for 53 minutes and a total of 2.2 miles, came back, ate breakfast and relaxed for a couple hours before my babysitting shift started.

Then I rearranged the living room, moving about half of the furniture around: the couch, recliner, dresser, etc. I spent around 1 1/2 to 2 hours doing all of this.

Shortly after I finished, I took my nephews for a walk and even though my muscles were tired and my feet were hurting from earlier activity, I walked a 23 minute mile. That's the fastest I've walked while pushing in their stroller. Already in less than two weeks, I've cut three minutes off my mile while pushing them. It's almost as fast as my walking on my own. Of course, my speeds vary depending on multiple factors each time I walk, but I think this is amazing and shocking since I felt like I was moving slower.

I'm a little low on calories again, even after eating a serving of cashews. So I need to find at least 300 more calories to eat if possible.

Day 8:

The scale showed a 5.2 pound loss for me, I'm so excited. The rest of the day was a bit of a trial. It rained all day into the early afternoon, making sure I rested but feeling trapped wasn't the way I wanted to rest, it was a bit depressing to not have the option to go out at all. I didn't even take the boys to the park.

For lunch I made a tasty salad with half iceberg lettuce/half spinach leaves, a few thick slices of cucumber, half cup of black beans, two teaspoons of parmesan cheese, and two tablespoons of ranch dressing which is the only dressing we had that was good. It was so yummy, I will probably eat another for lunch tomorrow. It was still only 280 calories, which is a good figure for lunch.

Dinner I made spaghetti for the family. I made the sauce with ground turkey instead of our usual ground beef. I also used macaroni noodles we got from the food pantry, which aren't the best. No one seemed to like the spaghetti and I was feeling tired and emotional. I kind of lost it after that and I'm not proud of it, but I thought the spaghetti tasted good and was disappointed that it didn't seem to go over well.

Thankfully I'm feeling better now after taking the dog for a short walk and taking a breather from everyone else. I don't have to watch my nephews until noon tomorrow so I get to sleep in a little :D

Day 7:

Definitely overdid it today. I did not think ahead as much as I usually do. I took the kids for a walk, stopped at the park for twenty minutes, and then walked some more. I did the dishes twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon (this alone causes me pain). Then this evening I took another walk by myself and it felt great. This totaled 68 minutes of walking for the day. Within 20 minutes of getting back from my evening walk, my mom and I left to go grocery shopping. When we get the kids' WIC and a week or two of groceries, it always takes us an hour to shop plus whatever time it takes us to get through the long check out lines. That meant standing or walking for probably an hour and a half or more right after exercising. NOT GOOD. I'm a little upset with myself for not planning ahead like I should have and now I feel a bit depleted.

Tomorrow morning is my first weigh-in after officially starting this journey. To say I'm a little nervous about it is an understatement. I'm a little afraid I might have gained weight (muscle) and that's a good thing, but seeing the number on the scale go up would be disappointing. I hope to see good results and really wish we had one of those high tech scales that showed fat percentage and other stuff besides just weight.

I'm still feeling optimistic, just drained. Tomorrow is another day, I think it's going to be a day of rest after two high activity days. I might take the boys to the park but that is definitely it.

Day 6:

This morning I did an 8 minute kickboxing video, and then an hour later I did a 12 minute kickboxing video because it looked overcast out and I didn't know if it was going to rain. I would have checked the forecast beforehand, but I didn't want to waste precious time that my nephews were still sleeping. I now kind of regret the second video because all of my muscles are sore, and I'm not totally sure it's all in a good way. This evening I did a 24 minute, one mile walk on my own and felt pretty good during it.

I also took the boys to the park to play a couple hours after the kickboxing video. It's only an 8-10 minute walk round trip to the small playground we have in our community, but I did lift them each at least four times to put them in the baby swings or lift them onto a piece of equipment, so it was a bit of exercise... although not worthy of adding to my fitness tracker even if I could.

Since there isn't much food in the house and a majority of it isn't healthy in any respect, it's hard to find things to eat. My calorie range is 2250-2500 and I've been having trouble hitting it for the most part. Yesterday was only 1805 and today is only 1665 so far and I've already had dinner. There's no way I'm hitting it in the next couple hours.

Most of our food right now is from a food pantry. While it is a big help and about a third to a half of the food is healthy, the food that lasts the longest isn't the healthy stuff. Tomorrow's payday, but grocery spending will be a minimum still. In a house of six people, with two growing children, it's tough to get the food we need. I will continue to do my best no matter what, but it is a little discouraging not to have the better food choices.

I took my nephews for a walk this evening. I've been walking a 26 minute mile while pushing them in their stroller for the past week, but tonight I walked a 24 minute mile. Yes! Already shaved two minutes off my mile with them. I walked a 23 minute mile a couple nights ago when it was just me, and I hope to shave minutes off of that too and I know I will with time. I'm excited for making some progress this soon.

Tomorrow my goals are to take the kids to the park in the morning and for a walk afterwards if I feel up to it. Then take them for a walk in the evening as well.

I made a visual collage, it took me a couple hours to do it right and get the images and words I wanted on it in place. I used a picture of a plus sized model because they are more realistic in relation to my goals, plus a picture representing travel, and a picture representing a beach. Then I used text boxes to put my goal weight in big letters in the center, as well as a list of dreams and some quotes off to the side. After I was done, I made this collage my desktop background so I can see it nearly every day when I use my laptop. It turned out nice and I'm glad I worked at it until I got it done.

This is "day 4" and three days since I weighed in. I'm feeling better about myself and the future. I was battling a bout of depression after an extremely busy and stressful month and a half prior to it. I got my before pictures taken today and posted.

I got two videos in today, one kickboxing and a 1 mile walk video. I feel good about that. I did the first one this morning before I found out it was a bad air quality day from noon to midnight, that was disappointing because I wanted to try a nice long walk like I did last night (40 minutes). So I did the walking video and plan on taking a short walk this evening when it gets cooler, around 7/8 with my nephews in the stroller.

Since I worked six days in a row watching my nephews, totaling 47+ hours, I am trying to get the most out of my weekend off.

One thing about watching my nephews is it keeps me busy and prevents me from eating a lot. It's also more important to me to get out of the house and away from the rest of the family, even if only for 15 minutes. They get a chance to get out and I get a break from my stepdad especially. I can't stand his grumpiness and how it seeps all over the place, especially when I'm so empathetic, I can't help but feel it even when I'm trying not to.
