Been doing well this past month. Got back on another site and have been involved in some weekly challenges with the ladies there. My weight is up which drives me crazy - cause I KNOW I am eating better and doing more exercise than before. My body always does this when I start lifting weights - so I am not giving up. I just wonder if I totally screwed my system up with the last year of eating problems (severe anxiety meant I hardly ate the last 6 months) and no exercise.

My body feels very weak when I get out there walking or lifting.

BUT - it is time to quit blaming last year. Last year happened. I did what I had to do, had to give up what I did - but this is now and I can get better - working out, eating clean, being healthy.

A friend just finished chemo last week. She posted that she ran a mile. Wow. So - do I have any room to complain that it hurts when I try to walk or jog? Nope. Time to get out there and suck it up and get back to who I used to be.

feeling optimistic that I can do this - been a long tie since I've felt this way.

Reposting my 14 habits that I'm to be focusing on (in case I forgot what I was doing...)

14 habits I will work on in 2014:
1. eat clean (about 85% I'd guess so far)
2. drink 8-10 glasses water each day (today - great, other days, I've made good attempts)
3. cardio 3x week minimum (on track)
4. strength training 2x week minimum (have NOT done - work on this)
5. stretch 5 mins each day (a couple times - need to work on)
6. reduce carbs and gluten (yes)
7. get back to Flylady routines/plan to have some control over life (somewhat)
8. plan meals for the week (pretty good)
9. prep food for the week ahead of time (need to work on)
10. work on appearance/get out of workout clothes (nope)
11. mindful interaction with husband and kids (better)
12. mindful interaction with dogs (yes - made it to agility and obedience and walking)
13. mindful interaction with extended family, friends and strangers (not yet)
14. And every day will start With a grateful prayer And a thankful heart (Muppet Christmas Carol lyrics) Yes

So - improving and I feel optimistic which is something I have not felt in a long time.

during walk today, I decided I have crappy shoes. I do not like them and I need to find some I do like. Maybe tomorrow or this weekend?

Need to update my spreadsheet and see what my mileage is for today.

1-4-14 2 miles (elliptical today)

Got up, fed dogs, and hit the elliptical. That's what needs to happen - first thing, no debate, no distractions, automatic.

4 cups of water down so far. Off to a great start today.

1-3-14 2 miles

Chilly here during my walk. But I got it done. Tomorrow, the elliptical and weights are my goal.

I signed up for the 30 lbs in 4 months challenge - but then I modified it to be 15 pounds...no one has commented on my lack of commitment (yet). I like the idea of a 4 month challenge (fits in with my 1-4-14 to 4-1-14 theme in a way) rather than a short term challenge. Hopefully it will keep me focused. However, I don't know about 30 lbs. Actually I don't know about 15 lbs, but I see 15 as a better possibility. We'll see.

1-1-14 - 2 mile walk with dogs and husband
stretching coming up

Had a family get together for New Year's today. It was nice. We are such an anti-social family, it was a nice change to be with some others and interact.

Husband leaves tomorrow am. Dreading it. Not sure when he will be back. Hopefully in 2-3 weeks. Son has a few more days off before school starts next Tuesday. Tomorrow and Friday will work on returning house to 'normal', getting a few errands done, some work (of course), and trying to have some fun with son and dogs.

Had husband take pictures of me today and weighed in. Need to start my life style change notebook. I don't want to call it a diet notebook.

From 1-4-14 to 4-1-14 will be my initial challenge to myself. To eat clean, to exercise, to be the best I can be - and try to get back to being who I REALLY am.

14 habits I will work on in 2014:
1. eat clean
2. drink 8-10 glasses water each day
3. cardio 3x week minimum
4. strength training 2x week minimum
5. stretch 5 mins each day
6. reduce carbs and gluten
7. get back to Flylady routines/plan to have some control over life
8. plan meals for the week
9. prep food for the week ahead of time
10. work on appearance/get out of workout clothes
11. mindful interaction with husband and kids
12. mindful interaction with dogs
13. mindful interaction with extended family, friends and strangers
14. And every day will start With a grateful prayer And a thankful heart (Muppet Christmas Carol lyrics)

So, I know some of my habits I intend to work on are not quantitative and I will need to be careful to show some progress. I don't mean to seem shallow with 10. Working out of my house, I have gotten in the habit of wearing workout clothes ALL the time. This must stop. I need to really work on having some kind of reasonable appearance.

Officially, my start is 1-4-14. But it begins now.
