I have not done very well since going on vacation in June. I need to get my calories down to about 1200. I have been reviewing my nutrition trackers from the beginning (2013).
I read a blog tonight and it reminded me of what I told myself when I joined SP, "I will try it for a month." I couldn't decide if I wanted to join WW again or SP for free. It is only 30 days out of my life!
I have to start somewhere. I can't give up!

I had both tests and the results are pretty good. I have a sliding hernia that balloons up when I eat and I will need another colon test in 5 years. Overall, that was okay news. I lost 5 pounds getting ready for the procedure, but I think I gained about 4 back in a week! Darn it!
So back to tracking and measuring my portions. I would like to be below 200 lbs. before I go to Colorado in June. I guess I just set a short term goal and I believe it is attainable!!

Still having a few tummy problems. I went to the doctor and she scheduled an upper GI and it's time for my colon test. I will have those tests in a few weeks. Still trying to be careful what and how much I eat.
I've been losing a few pounds and trying to exercise 5 days a week.

Staying on track feels good!

My daughter and BF did not move to CA. I was happy and she is very happy too. It was too much to go there without a job lined up.

I have been back on track since the holidays - having a few tummy problems. So really watching what I put in my mouth!

2016 is going great!

I haven't had the best few weeks. My DD told me that she and her BF are moving 2000 miles away. They are in their 20's and are just going on a whim. It has taken me a few weeks to wrap my head around it, but there is nothing I can do to keep them here. I haven't been on track very well with sleeping/eating/exercise. I know I am not hurting anyone but myself by not taking care of me first.
I haven't told anyone about her plans yet and how it is affecting me - hoping she will change her mind. All I can do is pray for them and hope everything works out for them.

Have had a busy summer. We got MIL's house sold, enjoyed our trip to Colorado to visit family, and am still hanging in there. I am trying to stay on track but just taking it day by day. I am tracking my food and fitness. I just need to get more determined and focused on my goal.

Kind of maintaining right now, but would like to be at 190 when we go to Colorado in July. I know I will gain a few pounds while there.
Had an asthma episode about 2:30 am this morning. It was mild, but uncomfortable. I couldn't find my inhaler so I toughed it out and tried to relax. Our Mo summer is revving up with heat and humidity. I guess my little play time with the shop cat at 8:30 pm last night was too much for me. I haven't really had any asthma problems since I have lost about 25 pounds. I was surprised last night.
This morning I found my inhaler and will need to get another one from the Dr. as it is about to expire. Heat and humidity are on tap for today and tomorrow (90's) so the little kitten play time will need to be inside the store. I think I can take the kitten to my friends farm next week (I hope)! It is beginning to eat well and use the litter pan.
I will keep pushing and get to the next level for ME!

Things have been busy since my last post. My MIL passed away the end of March and I have been working in her house getting ready for an auction at the end of May. We have also had some home improvement projects going on at the same time. It has been hard to be 2 or 3 places at once. We, also, have a new kitten in our home. He is very active!
I have had a hard time staying on track the last couple of weeks. The hungry monster has come out! I want to eat everything in site - healthy and unhealthy. I don't want to gain my weight back that I have worked so hard to lose. I guess I am playing the mind game again. Today was a better day for food. I am still tracking my food and weight on my Spark page. I thought that would hold me more accountable. I will get back on track! I can do it! I am strong! emoticon

I've been doing okay with weight loss this month. Hubby and I have joined a healthy program with our community health department for 12 weeks. My hubby has lost 3x as much as I have but I knew it would happen. Men just lose weight faster than women. I am just so happy that he is more aware of what he eats now. He has cut out most of the sugar and feels so much better. He will even tell people he feels better! NSV! He asks questions about food and doesn't call me the "Food Police" any more. HA!
I am feeling sad and haven't eaten or slept much for the past 4 days as our beloved kitty was hit by a car and killed. I know I will be able to get through this as this isn't the first pet we have lost over the years, but we are all very sad. I plan to get another house kitty, who will not go outside, in the future. I have always had a house cat and I think it will help us to love another pet. Even our dog is missing her buddy!

Congrats on the weight loss, LBlanco8! Keep pushing and you will reach your goal. I am feeling better since having had the flu and now a cold. I won't let it keep me down. I have lost those pounds I gained over the holidays and ready to move forward! My DH wants to take off a few pounds too. Nice to have a buddy!

I usually fall of the wagon with my diet within a week; however I have been on SP since October and have dropped 32 pounds. The first 25 fell off, but now I am really having to work to take off each pound I have lost since then. I have faith that I can do it, and will continue to eat healthy and exercise!

The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.

Have had a good summer, but really haven't lost anymore weight. I kind of like where I am at now, but I know I need to lose more weight.
I want to lose about 8 lbs. before Thanksgiving. I better get with it then!

I made it to 195# last week! I feel great! I have summer clothes that fit for the first time in years. I can button all of my blouses and not have to wear layers (even tho that is in style). I am much cooler.
Of course, since I made it to my little goal now my little mind wants to overeat or eat foods I shouldn't eat. I didn't gain this week, but I will gain if I keep "rewarding" myself!
I will stay on track. I am looking at 190# for my next little goal. I just want to keep going down!

About 5 lbs. to go!

I am still working on my small goal of reaching 200 lbs. Still going back and forth with 2 lbs. I am trying to Beat the Funk (a blog from Steph-knee) for the rest of Feb. I am at day 2 and am going strong. 10 days total - I will exercise every day and eat at the low end of my calorie range or below.

I can do this!

I weighed today and I am back to the weight I was before the holidays! About 1.5 lbs. to go to get to 200 lbs.! My mind is on track and I love the quote from Pixi-Licious, "Never sacrifice what you want most for what you want at the moment."
That really hit home this morning.

This has been a better week for me. My tailbone is healing and it is easier to sit and bend down. I am back to aerobic exercise this week and it doesn't seem to hurt my tailbone area.

I have been looking at my calorie reports and I really need to start watching the sodium again. I am so close to getting to 200 lbs. That is my short term goal for the end of this month. Just a few pounds to go - I can do it!

I had a couple of weeks of getting off track, but I seem to have my mind in the correct place. I have been exercising, but my calories have been too high. I enjoy cooking and the meals have been too rich and there have been too many snacks in the house.

Back to simple meals for good nutrition!

New Year - I am doing well so far this winter. I gained 2 lbs. over Christmas from eating rich foods. I didn't over eat, I just ate the wrong foods and snacks. I am getting back on track. It has taken a couple of days, but it seems to be much easier to make the right choices now.

We are staying home for New Year's Eve. I am fixing fruit, baked chips, fat free dip, shrimp and homemade pizza. I should do fine as I will weigh and measure my portions and stay on track during the day as well. New Year's day I am planning to fix a big pot of vegetable soup.
I am ready for 2014! Bring it on! Back to my routine and goals.
One of the biggest goals for all of us should be to LOVE ourselves!
Happy New Year!

Lost another inch from my waist and 1/2 inch from my arms. I am beginning to enjoy exercising and have been working it into my schedule 6 days a week. I have more energy, sleeping better, and feel stronger.

I am adding more veggies and fruit to my diet. I noticed I was only getting 2 or 3 servings a day.

I am glad I started using SP 4 months ago. I have learned so much from this site which will help me get through the holiday season. The cold winds are blowing, but this winter I won't be "growing!"

My knees have been hurting and I couldn't turn my head without pain. When I wasn't exercising, my back hurt and now that I am exercising my knee pain returns. I did something to my neck last Friday, but all is well for now. I went in for an adjustment and am sore today, but feeling better.

I need to keep exercising for my health and am just going to have to deal with the knee pain. Back to the chair exercises tomorrow!

Today was weigh-in day. I almost wanted to skip it, but I thought I better check my weight. I lost 1 pound! I have only been losing about every other week. I don't think that is anything new to my body. I have always lost weight slowly. I joined WW in my 20s and it took about 9 months to get off 40 lbs.

My little goal in my head is to get to 200, then below. About 8.5 lbs. to go to first goal!

It is a good day. TGIF!

I didn't lose any weight this week, but have lost 2 inches from my waist! I am very happy about that.

It's Friday and my daughter is coming home for the weekend. All four of us will be under one roof! I am fixing the SP Fish Packets recipe tonight (my husband won't eat fish)! We will laugh, tell what's been going on, and play a little Yahtzee. Should be a great weekend!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Today was my weigh-in day and I have lost another 2 lbs. which makes a total of 10 lbs.! I am very happy with myself for sticking with SP. I am doing the stress challenge, my first challenge. I am an emotional eater.

I went to a family birthday dinner tonight and did not go over my calories. Nothing was lite or low-cal. I felt like I ate more like a thin person would eat or at least, more mindfull.

I was very tired today so I decided I needed a nap. I did not exercise today, but tomorrow is a new day.

A very good day today!

Thanks! My willpower is low tonight. I just want to eat! There isn't a lot on TV and it's so hot outside, I guess I am bored. I just started a new book today, I think I better pick it up and read for a while.

I did 2 work out videos on SP today and gave myself a pedi to keep busy. I think I will water my flowers and get back to that book!

I thought I would check in at your community journal too! You are doing great! Usually the first week is when you lose the most. Then it slows down...so don't give up. Your body is going through some changes and when you are our age (50+) -it isn't as easy to take off like when we were younger! But, it will, you just have to get that willpower and determination fired up! emoticon emoticon

Today was weigh-in day. The scale didn't move! I stayed the same for the 2nd week in a row. I guess my body doesn't want to let go. I won't give up. After 3 weeks of eating healthy and watching my portions, I feel better and seem to have more energy.

My small goal was to lose 6 lbs. by this weekend. I have lost 5 lbs. and the weekend is 3 days away. I have an event to attend and wanted my clothes to feel more comfortable. I think I will be fine. Just disappointed in my body. It's tough being 50 Something!

I haven't weighed for the week yet, but I have been working out daily. I usually don't get any further than this (5 lbs) in my past weight loss attempts. My body likes to hold on to fat for sure! This time I am not giving up.

Thank you for the encouragement!

How's it going this week Walnut? I know how you feel after really trying and not losing anything. It's like the fat feels at home and comfortable in your body and you hafta work extra hard to kick it out. Don't give up. You hafta let the fat know it's not welcome and get rid of it little by little.
From one 50 something to another, I'm rooting for you.

Put on some upbeat music.

My second week on SparkPeople. I am still sticking with it and doing my workouts, but I didn't lose any weight this week. I stayed the same. That is not bad, but I have to admit I was hoping for something. I hope next week will show some movement on the scale. I will hang in there and keep trying.

20 minutes of exercise is a big deal, especially when it's so easy to sit down and do nothing.
Cudos!
Keep up the good work.

My first week on SparkPeople. I didn't think I would like doing this online, but by the second day I loved it! I lost 5 lbs this week!!!! Now comes the hard part. Usually, after a week or so of dieting, I give up. Not this time. Today I am still going strong and did a 20 minute aerobic workout. I feel great!

That may not sound like a lot to some, but for me it is pretty great. I can usually find an excuse for not working out or for eating things I shouldn't. Can't wait for this next week!
