I've spent the last few years really up and down on my weight. I've only found some success the last few months so thought I would share what the difference has been for me.
I started off with doing some interval training 3 times a week which was pretty intense but didn't really see much difference, at least immediately. At that point I decided to clean up some other areas in my life as well, focus on getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night, and also focusing on better diet. For me this meant things like, having low-fat greek yogurt for breakfast instead of cereals, having water instead of diet colas, having salads for lunch, really trying to limit beer intake, in the event of a big party where I wanted to have some drinks I would have vodka waters or light beer depending on whether I had the calories to spare in the day. As well I have a big bowl of fruit and veggies by the door at my condo, on my way to work I throw a few of each into my laptop bag. I try to have enough in the bowl to last me througout the week and just having it there means I have one more healthy chance before eating something bad in the fridge :) One snack I love is the avacoda with a little salsa.
I have to say that one big thing as well was that eliminating the diet drinks has really helped with my discipline. Maybe its just me, but not having sweet diet drinks has helped curb my cravings for sugar. If I eat out and have salmon with a brown sugar glaze they've added on, I now find it to be too much for me as I'm more sensitive to sugars.
Anyway, I don't pretend to know all the answers, but for me I find the above has helped me.
All the best!
