You don't need a scale to lose weight but it does keep you honest. It also helps you to track progress. You should find out how much you weight, doctors, use a scale at a gym, etc. Or even purchase a cheap one. That way whenever you decide to weigh yourself again you can track your progress.
If you can't get a scale, you measure yourself with a measuring tape. (Sparkfit offers a printable one I believe) and you can track the inches around your bust, armes, waist, hips, legs, etc. That way you can track you progress with inches lost.
