can only try.

nice. good you exercised.

allowing myself individual non-fat yoghourt most days. not high in calories but feels sinful. often feel i'm missing out on beneficial foods because too high in calories.

it's hard when pleasure is offset by [fear of] overeating and disappointment at missed social occasion is offset by relief at not having done so. understand but don't let it prevent your enjoying company.

sorry they are aggravating you about cat. bad enough you had to give him up.

keep walking. hope it gets easier with time.

sigh!

walked with medium walker yesterday to buy slippers. lady in store got me 20% off. that's always fun. then did intervals on bike. today strolled a little. tempted to get on bike to read now, but leisurely.
I have added some healthful food without giving up anything. not staying woithin calories. was good by nbr today. she had a nice spread. I had a little fruit.

company next week. looking forward, but dreading what I will eat. sigh, again!

hope you walked. up to 11 minutes walking indoors now but hard.

lady from line dancing class leaving district. had open house this afternoon. wanted to go but feeling a bit snivelly so thought it wouldn't be fair to others. not really consoled by ladybird's comment that at least we wouldn't be tempted by "goodies".

sorry you feel computer is in charge. 'fraid it's true, though. in any event, you missed spark not working. couldn't sign in.

plan to walk with medium walker. must do more. time to get back on bike, I think. nothing but strolling all week. did 10 minutes of more on Monday.

hope "medium" wants to keep on walking.

not convinced re arthroscopy and will find out as much as i can about it before i decide.

should have gone to meditation class today but shoulder too painful to drive. tried here but went to sleep.

saw birthday lady yesterday. suggested we catch a bus to largest shopping centre in area one day, do some window shopping and go to pizza parlour. temptation never stops.

one whose moving never walked. fast walker remarried and moved years ago. I saw her last week.

yay for eyes improving!!! hope they continue. getting off medicine "ain't" too shabby either.

think carefully about arthroscopy. not the kind of thing you "try". get some really good opinions first, I think.

you're right. accepted and when sil rang was relaxed about talking to her, even tho i'd planned to do other things - walked up and down part of time to be sure of reaching steps goal.

see you walked - good. slow walker not helping at all. is fast walker one who's moving?

good - optometrist today. use glasses just for computer and reading and told needed new prescriptions because eyesight IMPROVED [nice something has!] and prescriptions too strong. wonder if it's because i came off a lot of medication last year.

physio still not happy. wants me to try arthroscopy.

spark is not helping blood pressure - third attempt. not a very good duck either.

need to make online food order, ladybird has offered to help. obviously no chance of sneaking in anything "wicked".

glad it was relaxing. bad day and night - seem to have spent more time lying down today than achieving. why do i always think i shall have lots of free time at weekend then find i have a long list of things to do?

been earning dollar every day - should total them. you've earned a lot lately.

new service from insurance company. boring interview with nurse on phone. I did crossword puzzle while speaking to her. she referred me to dietician whose call I missed. don't know any more than that.

at least you achieved something and had the chance to catch up on sleep the next day, You also exercised. It will make it harder in the long run if you let the project take over. You need sleep and exercise.

does dietician just suggest or follow up?

walking partner is not really helping if she's slow and unreliable. just as well you have dvds as you don't like walking alone.

was bullied yesterday. ladybird said no evening meal until i'd reached steps goal and would not let me accept invitation to pizza night.

took me three attempts to post message. could read yours but reply did not work.

glad presentation was good.

I was treated to a cup of gourmet tea today, too. I put in splenda (artificial sweetener) so it was good. can't say I noticed any other difference. tea is a very good habit.

bad news: stupid me stayed up
good news. almost done. at least I accomplished. I guess last night prepared me. The exercise DVD didn't hurt. I will be tired tomorrow, but I can sleep late if life doesn't interfere.

soon will return to big project. need to keep it from dominating my life.

loved your post. could almost see you struggling to overcome the negatives and replacing them with positives. ladybird congratulates you and turtle.

class this morning and bookclub this afternoon. think presentation went off OK. new lady who's keen to join.

haven't had time for snacks but having one now [planned] because i need to take tablets. time for cup of tea [much needed] then must sort out food for tonight or i won't be able to keep to plan and ladybird will be annoyed,

bad news. late and rainy. took cab
good news:walked past vending machine when hungry. potato chips sang to me: miiinniiie,miiinniie. turtle said i'd tell paolina I resisted.
bad news: planned to walk and partner backed out.
good news: did dvd.
bad news: no real supper protein ready. ate cashews.
good news: still in range and earned dollar.
but... craving garbanzo beans and they will do me in.

need to develop one document by Monday without losing sleep.

i'm pleased you slept extra. the world will go on...

glad you enjoyed and ladybird is proud. both our critters did well today.

I was afraid of cloud, too, but succumbed. I like that it automatically backs up and I can access from anywhere.

I hate when they update stuff,. i'm using windows 7 and office 2007. just got an office 2007 book (from work) to read someday. also got a new printer. it's bigger than old one and doesn't fit on my little desk.

I backed up my operating system or something on a flash drive. now it won't nag me every time I turn on my computer. i don't know how often it will tell me to update. but dropbox updates my documents automatically. i like that. you might not want to put your most private data. that probably should live on a flash drive or two, anyway.

goodnight. i'm trying to get decent amount of sleep. was planning not to open machine when I got home late, but I had to.

turtle earned it and you did well finally facing what needed to be done. ladybird also has halo. birthday dinner last night. no wine, nibbles, roll and butter. cake, chocolates and only stewed fruit for dessert. earned raincheck. company interesting.

nuisance about cookies but will have cleared out old ones too you never used. have external hard drive and some flash drives but would be interested in link to find out about dropbox. tried to avoid cloud but almost everywhere now.

still hanging onto xp [most popular windows program ever] but will have to change to windows 8 next year when no longer supported. already having troubles.

alarm didn't go off so slept 90 minutes more than intended.

don't remember where you went. hope you enjoyed. i'm sure you looked nice.

yes, fighting situation just drains us and is foolish. but acceptance is not easy.

got a flash drive and backed up my system, finally. lost access to computer for half hour. (it tells u 10 min, then after 10 min it tells you 30 min). kept opening fridge, but didn't remove anything. made a glass of tea and did a dvd. turtle is wearing a halo.spark did not recognize me after the process. it should not have wiped out my cookies, though that may not be a bad thing.

recently put files in dropbox on cloud (whatever that means). did I tell you? will get you link so both of us get extra space, if u r interested.

will post now in case it's too late when i get back.

only me. hoping if i lose weight and feel more relaxed it will help.

accept on practical level and do all i can to improve but am still surprised when i can't exercise and lift things as before,

OK, will do that.

have done steps for about 2.5 weeks [now at higher level than at start] and planned at least three times since we decided to become serious. on schedule so far today for steps and have planned food, including treat for ladybird. will see how it works out tomorrow.

you are helping your son a lot by listening and giving him the chance to wind down,

time to decide on something suitable to wear, which looks nice AND fits me. no longer everything in wardrobe.

ladybird says tell turtle she's willing.

catching up...
physically impossible to increase at moment, and trying to plan in advance. breathing bad too. ... u can only do what u can. not happy about your breathing. who's working on that?

i have never accepted damaged shoulder and heart conditions as part of who i am now but am always fighting them and trying to improve on purely physical level...above my head. I thought you were doing admirably well given the circumstances.

physio clutching at straws to see how can help. ... hope he comes up with something. did cortisone help?

you are doing well with food and exercise at the moment ... no i'm not.

and you already know your goal. part of mine is reaching steps and planning meals in advance as the other half. is that acceptable to you? of course, you are free to set your own challenge for yourself.

i think both of us would rather go sooner than lose our independence...agreed.

time turtle and ladybird became more vigilant... already agreed. i'm posting my food. I've behaved for 4 days and so far I earned my $ today . I see I've already posted food for may 12. not sure when I did it, but I will erase it.

yes, I did enjoy my son. I had to get out of his bedroom so he could go to sleep, but he chose to go for a walk instead. he had given a speech and wanted to repeat it for me and wind down. these are often not real visits. just motel service.
i was able to afford the time more than he was. I had slept a lot the night before and got up later than he did this morning. it's good I got almost enough sleep because today was a challenging day, but ok.

know how you feel and tired of buying bigger sizes when i have plenty of smaller ones. invitation to birthday party this week. tried to say no but someone insisted on picking me up and bringing me back. ladybird been very good so need to give her a little slack but ONLY THEN. not tracking calories but steps on spark's pretty little tracker, physically impossible to increase at moment, and trying to plan in advance. breathing bad too.

good group meditation today, bookcluib book fascinating re woman working through hangups. she said must accept the parts of us we don't like [not just physical] before we can be at peace with them. realised i have never accepted damaged shoulder and heart conditions as part of who i am now but am always fighting them and trying to improve on purely physical level. physio clutching at straws to see how can help.

i have more than i thought but am happy to accept the figures. you are doing well with food and exercise at the moment and you already know your goal. part of mine is reaching steps and planning meals in advance as the other half. is that acceptable to you?

it's always sad to lose a link with the past and would stir up sad memories for you. it was a good age but i think both of us would rather go sooner than lose our independence.

yes, i'm grateful it's interesting. important to me. but the pressure is getting harder. old dull routine is beginning to look good.

I can't imagine what that means: getting involved and spending too much time!

today's inspiration says "love your body and the weight will take care of itself." I haven't found that to be true. my spring clothes don't fit. enough of this lifestyle stuff. i'm on a diet. yesterday I took turtle along to friend's house. had 3 pretzel's and 3 cubes of melon and seltzer. no chocolate cake or pie. pity. she's a good baker. but now i'm glad. turtle will have to stay on my shoulder at least till I get back to my plateau, which isn't even my goal. and I had better start recording my food again. better yet is planning it in advance and sticking to the plan.

had to get up early to go to funeral of the last of my parents' generation in my old neighborhood. relived my recent experiences and rethought the old days. 97 isn't too shabby. sad part is the last 5 years in a nursing home in bad shape. at least that's over. she was very nice.
walked there and back. nice day.

yesterday ran away from me. went to class, then decided too long to wait until august to see eye specialist so went to local optometrist's rooms and talked to receptionist. sounds OK so made appointment. can at least get glasses checked and if he thinks there's something really bad hopefully he will be able to get me earlier appointment.

'phoned sister - enjoyed talking but exhausted.

puzzle - think anything which takes your mind of current "should-dos" and problems must help.

thank you, dear. you, too. plan to take off time to move.

you are being very prudent and responsible. it's not fun contemplating the what bad things may happen. get it over with. I need to do it, too. procrastination is not a good habit.

I stayed up and finished the task. slept late today.

someone upset me. I react too strongly to other people's problems. I just did a puzzle to relax me. I wonder if it works like meditation for me. will have to get over it and get back to work...

know what you mean. mind races ahead.
govt working on new disability insurance scheme. keep seeing clips of people in nursing homes which make me grateful for what i can do.
lot of weekend spent catching up. self-inflicted but feel if health deteriorates i won't be able to do things and will regret not doing them while i could.

my compliments to ladybird. i'm just gaining.
I am inefficient and slow. e.g. I can't type without looking. much too long. at least my mind is fast, but my body gets in its way. i'm grateful for what I have, but frustrated.

glad you solved problem but not at expense of sleep.

class yesterday - today's my "free" [??] day saw friend for short time but mainly catching up on some of the things i've been putting off.

MC motive for you to walk. am gradually raising no. of steps so hope it helps.

ladybird says won't tell. she knows what it feels like to have extras. unfortunately scale is not so forgiving.

sleep well and don't take problems to bed [know how hard that is].

no she won't walk on her own.

last night got away from me. finished a small project and shut machine. was afraid to open again and get trapped.went to sleep with a problem on my mind. didn't sleep well, but solved the problem. (part of big project)

ladybird, please don't tell turtle (i left her home) that i had two lunches today because i couldn't resist two slices of pizza that we were served!!!!!!! i'm stuffed. wish there was a way not to tell the scale!!

took pain killers last night and slept better. physio 'phoned me. says still possible for improvement from cortisone but didn't sound very convincing.

meditation class - good session - enjoyed it.

if she's slow only because she hasn't been walking, she should improve, with your encouragement. is she happy to walk on her own too?

yes, same building nbr abandoning me. yes, I will gain a walk as often as i'll go. but not worth it. we really hit it off, but distance will take its toll. oh well, no choice. we discussed it today.

walked over to old friend today. beautiful day.

slept well again, so worked too late tonight. followed my interest rather than being super productive. more like improved what i'd already done.

enjoy your papaya and avocado and the rest of your good stuff.

hope your shoulder is improving.

fantastic! we're all different and, if you find catching up on your sleep helps, take advantage of any chance you have to do so.

i know i'm being obstinate about not counting calories but it's so time-consuming and i hate doing it.

if you have a reason to walk, even if you have to invent it, it will help to motivate you. will at least try to increase number of steps. been looking at free online mantra chanting course. don't know that it's for me but may look at it again while it's still there.

supper sounds delightful but, as you say, ... online order today so ladybird happy with papaya and avocado.

it will be a real blow to lose your neighbour and i agree it's unfortunate you know so far in advance. on the other hand, you would probably have felt hurt if she hadn't told you. is this the family which lives in the same building as you? one plus, if she will be living within walking distance, you will have a good incentive to walk there.

came to tell my worried friend that I slept 12 hrs towards catching up on my sleep. wanted to go in early last night, but my son came over. so took off this morning. better go work now. they say it's not good to oversleep. I find I must else I get sick. ideal is not to fall behind. but that requires more discipline than I have. mine goes into avoiding junk.

really good new re pedometer. at least that is resolving. now build up slowly.

i'm afraid calories are part of the equation. are you so sure you can do without tracking. I still can't!

you must challenge yourself, at you're level. please see title of our topic. (I know, I must, too). I walk but don't challenge myself. first walking partner did.

walked so much cause had destinations. man for whom I babysat is getting married. his mother came in from overseas. I walked to work. then to see her. back to work. then home. I do that too rarely. I should walk to shop and visit during day. I really can when i'm there such long days, though I've managed to occupy myself. work always fills the available time. unfortunately, on the way back to work I bought supper (eggplant and veggies and grilled veggies. sounds good but quite greasy and no real protein. then ate more when I got home.

neighbor is moving. will miss her. wish I didn't know 4 months in advance so can't enjoy the next 4 months. will be hard adjustment for her, her children, and me. but they reaaally don't have enough room here. maybe i'll walk over to see her. hope we manage to stay in touch. can't imagine speaking to her on the phone. I used to take over my food and we ate together.

will. resurrected old pedometer - averaging about 2,500 steps a day [10,000 for good health, 12,000+ to lose weight]. long, long way to go but incentive to try to do a few more steps.

excellent! only kidding re junk food. so hard to lose, so easy to put on.

pain still less when i'm not doing anything but starts up with movement. disappointing range has not increased but will keep hoping.

by the way, what does just :) on its own mean?

challenge not physically difficult but loathe tracking calories.

seem to be differing opinions re iodine. started tabs several days ago. discovered pathology had done original test but doc hadn't been informed. will try to get them to send him copy on monday to allow him to compare. says improvement will be slow.

i'm sure i'll find one, especially as i'm interested in meditation, etc, would be delighted to take part in physical challenges but ...

proud off you for walking so much, specially if you did it without partner.
