When I belonged to Curves (had to quit because their type of machines didn't go with my nerves or muscles; I ended up with 3 months physical therapy on one arm/shoulder and 5-6 months of pain) other people would show up at the same time when they came? I met 3-4 women I could have gotten to be friends with I think if I'd been able to stay.

I really liked Curves and it was working for me as I don't like to "exercise". But I think the stationaryness was too repetitive motion (carpal tunnel) for me. The physical therapist said there were a lot of women who ended up with them from Curves.

Before Curves I'd done a women's-only gym and hired a personal trainer but then my asthma kicked in before I understood it and had it controlled properly and that was so expensive I didn't try that again.

Now I have an Omron pedometer that does really neat things including connect to one's computer so you can download and compare data, etc. www.omronwebstore.com/detail/OMR+HJ-720ITC

I'm enjoying that, as you saw, trying to be "efficient" :-)

Its been week one since the Biggest Loser contest has been over from the Curves I work out at. I had really enjoyed it, getting together with the girls to do extra, fun workouts of all kinds. I did really well, coming in 2nd in losing the highest percentage of body fat and 1st for body fat pounds lost. But now its back on my own, working out alone, trying to keep the momentum going that had broken me out of the plateau I had been in. I am sticking carefully to my diet, except for the weekend where I spent two days with my Mom and sister and ate some stuff not on the diet. I only gained a lb, which for me is not bad, as I gain so easily. It takes a lot of hard work for me to lose every inch and pound that I put on. Not having any close friends or buddies to work out with and share the pain is something I am used to. But that contest pointed out how nice it is to have others to motivate you. So if you have anyone at all you can start a workout program with, like a spouse, kid, whatever, I strongly recommend you start it. If you have a dog, that is a ready made exercise program. The more attention you give your dog, the happier you both will be.

She took this member-submitted recipe and made a few changes to add flavor without fat and calories. She creates a pan sauce using Wondra, a superfine flour, and white wine, which is used to deglaze the pan and scrape up all the tasty bits from the bottom of the pan. Full Recipe
