Thank you! I'm not making as much progress so far today as I would have liked but I have a car ride coming up and working a little late so I'll be sure to hit my 8 glasses today!

Sorry hun! Didn't see you had posted! Tells you how long its been since I updated this journal!

This week is critical. I've gotten comfortable and used to losing weight. Not good. I need to focus. Need to commit. And need to do it in baby steps so I don't burn out. This week the goal is to drink my water like I'm supposed to. The reward is a mini at home spa day (read more about it in my blog tomorrow!). I need to focus on this first because I've been feeling very dehydrated lately and I know I need to fix that in order to make sure that I have that in order or nothing else I do will be effective. Here it goes!

So somehow - against all odds - I actually lost weight over the holidays and have hit an even 155 lbs. My bodybugg came yesterday too and i'm super excited to start tracking more accurately my calorie burn! I did 50 minutes of Turbo Jam this morning and burned over 420 and calories doing that. How awesome is THAT for 50 minutes??
emoticon

Now I just have to keep eating smart and stick to my plan!

Have a great New Year's Eve everyone! BE SAFE and be smart. Here comes our fresh start!!

Your doing great! Keep up the motivating attitude!! It is wonderful that your bf is helping and supporting you the whole way. It helps a lot! I too got me the Turbo Jam workouts and plan on starting them this week and continuing my Mon, Wed, Fri strength training routine at the gym.

Good luck and we can do it this year!!

So yesterday's diet plan went pretty well and so far today is going well too but today's my "high" day (high calories, carbs and fat) so it's a lot easier than yesterday. He promised that as I get into this, the high days are going to feel like cheat days and already I'd have to agree!

I didn't get up like I wanted to do get in my Turbo Jam yesterday or this morning but I still got my workouts. Tonight I play volleyball...well..."play"...I'm not very good. Since I'm not the most crazy player and it's pretty laid back, I'll do 40 minutes of Turbo Jam tonight before hand. Gotta make sure I'm not kidding about the calories I burn!

How's your day going?

A little frustrated today...

My boyfriend has done his researched, focused on getting results and at one point pushed himself to lose a significant (more than I've ever attempted) amount of weight. He did so in a healthy way and ended up with a great physique. So yesterday when I was frustrated that my results weren't happening the way I wanted them to, he asked for the data. I sent him the tracking reports, my nutrition goals,... everything Sparkpeople can report for you and he found the problem. My nutritional breakdown was backwards. By the math I was getting less than half of the protein I need to, twice the carbs and a little too much fat...all sorts of backwards. I went home last night frustrated. He helped me figure out the right numbers and I'm on a new track today...and this does explain why I'm not getting the results I should be getting for having been at this for so long but it's frustrating to know you've spent so much energy trying to do something and your efforts have been working against you!

Today is a new day. I actually cooked breakfast because I needed egg whites (turns out starting tomorrow I'll need to eat twice as many of those in the morning...no idea how I'm going to meet my protein requirements today) and I'm on a high - medium - low cycle in terms of calories, carbs, and fat (3 day repeat cycle) to make sure my body never "gets used to" any particular caloric intake.

One of the greatest parts of this is how much he's been able to help. He's done the research, checked how it applies to me, helped put together the plan and is helping me chase my goal. Granted he'll tell me - and anyone - that I don't need to lose anything and I'm fine but I want to get better and he's happy to help with that within reason. Now I have to do my part. Track EVERYTHING I eat. Workout like I should. Do weekly weight and body fat checks. Report and discuss with him and we'll change as needed from there.

If this wasn't proof that he should have been an engineer I don't know what is....

So as usual when I get the apartment nice and clean over the weekend, I stick to my fitness and diet better too! I did my 20 minutes of Turbo Jam emoticon this morning and I've been eating pretty healthy so far today. Working out in the morning definitely helps me stay on track with my diet too (as does Walmart's sales on Lean Cuisine! Makes packing for lunch super easy!) My new avatar is my latest progress picture and I feel great about how I'm starting to look! I really can't wait to see how I keep progressing!!

PAMELARC: you're welcome! emoticon

Alright so I haven't journaled in a while...sorry. This past week as bad and I let stress get the better of me but not nearly as often as I have before so I know I'm getting better!

I feel pretty good about my progress...good enough that I finally posted a progress picture!!! Thoughts? :-)

My diet has been ok. I'm going to try to go for a diet plan that I got with my Turbo Jam this week...looking forward to seeing progress from that...although that would require me to get off the couch and go to the grocery store! Normally I wouldn't be such a couch bum but I'm a little sore from the past few days and Chalene Johnson kicking my a$$. I'm working today on getting stuff done around the apartment so that I have no excuses this week to workout. I found I loved how I felt on the days I got up and moving and did a 20 minute Turbo Jam in the morning before work so I'm going to make that my goal again. Also going to focus once more on sticking to water, decaf tea and juice. Definitely felt more cleansed the week I did that.

How's your week looking? Getting ready for another productive week with me? WE CAN DO THIS!!!

It really does - thank you!

How's your journey going? Keeping at it?

Today's a muscle recovery day and a way of making sure I don't get burned out... I have a tendency of doing that. Either burning out or getting hurt. A day off after a hard workout day is just the medicine to prevent both. No worries though! My diet has been good today and I'm tracking everything that goes in my mouth. I held steady on my weigh in this week but considering I know right now I weigh a little more than usual (you ladies know what I'm talking about...) I consider that a good sign! We'll see how next Wednesday looks. Tonight I'm going to a friend's to watch the Yankees vs. Phillies game but she's making some healthy food and I've made sure to behave extra well today so I have calories enough to be polite tonight! She was talking about hummus and veggies for tonight - I think I can be good with that!

BEST MOTIVATION EVER!

Saw my boyfriend a few weeks ago and his words were "Whatever you're doing, keep it up" so that pushed me into a whole new frenzy of doing right by my plan.

Today we were talking about I was telling him about how I've done the past few days...sticking to my calorie, fat, carb, and protien counts... working out for 40 minutes both mornings in a row AND going to a gym class tonight for toning... drinking my water like I should... He actually used the full sentence "I'm proud of you". I guess I already knew he was but it was amazing to actually hear those words. I've been getting a migraine this afternoon but I know I'll make it to my gym class tonight and not blow my meal plans out of the water with dinner tonight because the most important person in my life is proud of me for my efforts. I'm on cloud nine!

So less than a week ago I said things were going well and this week they're going better so far. I doubled my workout time this morning and tonight I'm going to eat right and behave myself. Thanks for a 40 minute workout this morning, I don't have to do one tonight (today was not an assigned cardio day it was just bonus!) so I'll get to relax at home. Definitely drinking a LOT of water too!

How are all of you doing?

So far I'm doing alright on my challenges... I drank coffee morning yesterday but after the past four days I've had (full of mishap and sickness) it was either that or fall asleep on my keyboard at work. I went with coffee. I drank a lot of extra water to make up for it though. Aside from some poor snacking choices last night I'm getting better at consistently eating better too. I like controlling the meal plan on my own - it makes me pay more attention to what I'm eating now that I've learned to do things on my own...

That said, if I have another weigh in like I did this morning, I'm going back to a Spark controlled meal plan. I'm hoping it was just bloating from being dehyrated and leading up to "that time" but the scale went the wrong way this morning. Only a couple pounds so it could be water weight but we'll see. I brought my lunch for a day long meeting so I don't eat the pizza they're providing and I'm already planning on a TurboJam workout tonight while baking the food for tomorrow's carry-in lunch at work. I moved my entire workout to this afternoon (I'll do 1 longer workout tonight instead of splitting morning and night) because I decided that after the way I felt yesterday I'd be more on track after a little sleep this morning. The goal is to get to bed at a decent time so I can get up tomorrow morning and get back on track.

How's your week going?

Two challenges starting this week - feel free to join if you'd like!

Main challenge: Inspired by a emoticon we're going for at least 10 minutes of workout every day. I'm pushing myself to do it in the morning so I can still have time to do another workout in the evening and hopefully the early morning burst will help me break my plateu. TurboJam is my workout of choice for these early mornings - definitely check it out if you haven't already!

Mini challenge: I felt really dehyrdrated by the end of the weekend so I've decided I need more water. No coffee or soda this week - decaf tea and water only. I got a new cup for work and a mug with an infuser that is microwave and dishwasher safe so NO EXCUSES!!!

Tracking what I eat - I turned off the "create a meal plan" because I'm feeling good about knowing how to pick food and I want to try doing that so I know that whenever, wherever, I'm making the right choices. Hopefully this won't cause me to lose too much ground and the key will be to still enter my track of what I ate and when. Here goes!

Can't wait to get my book!!! emoticon

I really need to get better at updating.

I'm a little frustrated because I've been working out but not losing weight. I'm making a renewed effort this week to track my nutrition on Spark and I ordered Turbo Jam last week while I was sick and wanted to know that I was going to get back into this and meet my goals. I've got rewards established for myself, I'm tracking my weight on my bathroom mirror and I've started going to a class regularly where they recognize me and notice when I'm gone - talk about reason to keep going to class! Here's to hoping this breaks the plateu!!

Thanks Miss Lady! It's feeling good so far and I'm definitely motivated to keep it up. I think I gave myself a little more time to lose the weight this time so my diet doesn't seem too much different than usual so that's feeling good. I just need to keep up on my fitness. Can't wait to see that 140!

Hope you had a great weekend too!

Still sore from Tuesday but I'm going to get to the gym early enough to do some cardio, stretch out these sore muscles and get ready for class.

I failed yesterday...left work too late to get to the gym and ate like crap last night...today will be better!

I told a very important person in my life about my goal. He was a little distracted when I told him but once he did the math and figured out what the goal meant, he did reassure me and tell me that'd be manageable.

Here we go...

Back to the usual updates!

Fitness:
Last night kicked. my. butt. Appropriate because this was a "butts and guts" class. I'll be going to this on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the week and hopefully it'll be good motivation to get going. I know it'll help me on off days too because I need to get in my strength training in between to keep up with the class! It felt great to workout again and even though there was some pain, I'm going to push through it. I have to if I want 140 by 25!

Nutrition:
Yesterday I ate terribly. Not too much of anything - actually just the opposite. I think that might have been part of my issue with the class last night. I'm doing much better today and I've got my grocery list to go out tonight or tomorrow. I've got to look it over and see if I can't combine somethings. Shopping for one person can be expensive if you're buying ALL these things on the list so I'm going to double up on some meals to make the most of the ingredients I buy (plus then I can cook ahead!)

Other:
Just realized I didn't really explain my "140 by 25" goal. I was 150 for a long time and even then wanted to tone down more. My 25th birthday is coming up (January 31) and I want to be at my "dream weight" by the time I hit that age. There's something about "25" to me that means I have things put together. And I do. The fitness instructor and I were talking last night and she mentioned "Wow and you look so young" after I mentioned an engineering degree and great job. When I told her I'm only 24 - I should still look young! - she was impressed by the amount I've accomplished already and she's right. I have done a lot to get my life together and things are really falling in place lately. (One past little piece but he's underway too emoticon emoticon ) I want to celebrate that with my dream body and show how I really do control my life and that I do achieve everything I set out to do.

Progress:
Today was "first" weigh in at 163. Not terrible but I definitely have my work cut out for me.

Have a great day everyone!

It's been a while and I need to update all of you. Yes, I have been MIA the past month or so. I wish I hadn't been and I'm still not 100% but here's the background (it's a bit of a novel so I'll forgive you if you don't read everyword - I'll try to keep it as short as possible).

In March I was in month 2 of training for my 3rd marathon. The cold weather got the best of me and after a few weeks of chest pain, breathing issues, an x-ray, EKG and a lung function test I was diagnosed with costochondritis ("Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone (sternum). It causes sharp pain in the costosternal joint — where your ribs and breastbone are joined by rubbery cartilage. Pain caused by costochondritis may mimic that of a heart attack or other heart conditions." - www.mayoclinic.com) I definitely felt the heart-attack like pain and it hurt to breathe just sitting at my desk. Working out was no longer an option - obviously neither was the marathon and for the first time in my life I had to pull out of a race.

Fast forward to the point when I joined Spark. I was convinced I was doing better. I was off the medication. I could finally fold clothes again without feeling winded. I decided I wanted to go for a run and after a few weeks of eating right and getting that on track, I did. 4 days later I was back at the doctor.

Turns out I never really recovered. I'm still in pain daily and feel winded on occation. I've become frustrated and depressed because it's not just running. I can't do anything that increases my breathing rate because even slow, steady, calm breathing hurts. This time doctor gave me 5 refills of the drugs - apparently she thinks it's going to take me a while to recover too. I'm a very independent, driven, strong person normally so to have my own body shutting me down is frustrating. Gaining back the weight I was losing is depressing to me because there's so little I can do about it. I feel like I'm making excuses by people's reactions to my little saga but I am in pain all the time.

I'm not writing this to get sympathy or the pat on the back. I'm just putting it out there because I'm frustrated and there will be days as I try to get back on track that tear me up. Which is why I'm here - because I've noticed so far the support that so many "strangers" can give and I am incredibly grateful for that...so here we go.

Doc suggested I start working out again while on the meds using them as a crutch so to speak. I have moved and am making an effort to only buy and put things in the fridge that will help my goals. I signed up at a new gym last week and it's a small women's only gym with the right equipment, good (free!) classes, an infrared sauna (that apparently burns 225 calories in 15 minutes...talk about a kick start), tanning I can use as a reward for getting back on track and most importantly an environment that I think will help keep me from going overboard. I'm going to my first class tonight, I have my gym "orientation" and first weigh in tonight (my weigh ins on here will be Wednesdays) and I'm going to try to do this.

I appreciate everyone who has messaged me, emailed, posted about where I've been and asking if I'm ok. I'm not completely but right now for my own sanity I need to do something and hopefully with the right environment, I'll be able to do that without hurting myself even more.

Not completely back yet...but getting there...
Gabi

Thanks Roxanna! Mine was pretty good - and it sounds like you had a great one too.

Thanks for dropping by NMS! I need to stay on track for my end of the month goal. I'm REALLY going to focus on my eating. I love to workout and burn a good sweat so I know my diet habits need the most work. I appreciate the extra support!

Alright so it's been a little while since I did a real update. I had a terrible weekend...I won't go into details but I was an emotional wreck and lucky that I ate anything and got into the shower. I'm doing a lot better and ready to get back on track today.

A friend of mine started a "NO EXCUSES July" where we're doing calorie counts and a workout plan every day without excuses. It's tough love but that's the way he works. I figured this would be a great way to get myself back on track after my awful weekend. So here it goes - to NO EXCUSES Day 1!

Oh it is, trust me...terribly humid. I love my curly hair too...I don't even try to straighten it most of the time but it's a pretty curly. Mine's very thick as well...and to think I was bald until I was two!

LOL! I still can't imagine Michigan being humid like down south! You should come down here in July! Hehe..I too have naturally curly hair..I call it a curse...well I use to. I have grown to love it because I can wear it curly or straight (I have an awesome salon straightener) and still have tons of body (since it is as thick as a horse's tail)! LOL..

Hope your day today went well!!

Thanks Roxanna! The moving thing isn't that new to me. I graduated from college two years ago and this is the first place I've lived for a year ... more than 9 months actually ... since high school. The company sends movers but I still do a lot of work myself like packing the things I want to move on my own, loading the car, all those fun things.

Oh trust me - I know humid hot. I live near Lake Michigan and the lake effect is crazy. I have naturally curly hair which means in the summer I'm lucky if it doesn't frizz to the heights of heaven in June, July and August. That also makes for bitterly cold winters though.

Hope your day is going well!

Hey girly! Wow, I can imagine how stressful having to choose a work path would be...then the thought of having to move along with everything else..ugh. I've moved several, several times in my life and each one has been a challenge. But, on the upside, all that packing and moving boxes (unless you hire someone to do it) is good exercise!

Swimming is great exercise! I wish I lived somewhere cooler half of the year, LOL...but I do enjoy being so close to the beach. It's just that you've never experienced heat until you've experienced HUMID heat..lol.

Hope you have a great day!! Keep your head up :)

So I haven't done a decent update in a while...So here it goes:

NUTRITION
I've been back on track this week after falling off track a little last week on my trip. I was going great yesterday and after tracking and submitting my food for the day I couldn't stop being hungry! I ate a bowl of cereal and some cheese in addition to everything else so I know I went over on my counts but at least I kept it to healthy stuff!

FITNESS
Yeah I have severly messed this one up. No excuses...I let stress get the better of me and I haven't kept up my work. The good news is it's finally warm here that I can hit the pool this weekend and get in some laps. I love swimming and I get so much of a workout when I swim so hopefully I'll get myself back on board.

PROGRESS
Haven't weighed in...need to do that. I still feel pretty good but I know I'm not improving thanks to my screw ups this week.

Other
It was really cool to go back to the plant where I worked - I found out yesterday that I was the talk of the facility and they all noticed I've lost weight since I worked there. YAY! :-)

Yeah that's it...I'm tired and stressed lately trying to pick my job out of a couple amazing options, trying to finish up projects in my current job, finding an apartment wherever I move...yeah a lil stressed. I just need to not let that get the better of me!!!

I didn't stay as on track as I would have liked. My entire schedule got messed up a few times and the interviews and my emotions ran me over. I wish I could be more proud of how I did but I did get in some cardio, ate decently, and don't think I did too badly. I just need to be a lot better this week. Hopefully I'll get some deep cleaning done at the apartment tonight, cook myself a good dinner (which is good therapy for me on a few levels) and get back where I need to be!

Let me know how that cleansing goes. My hubby keeps saying we need to do one. I, however, do not have a gallbladder, so I feel like I do a cleansing daily...haha! Sorry, TMI.

Good for you packing that workout dvd!! Stay on track, I know that can be hard when you are not in your normal element. But you can do it! Be safe! emoticon

Thanks for visiting again Roxanna - it's always great to have your support and excitement :-) emoticon

Thanks! I did pretty good this weekend. Here's the update (since I was too lazy to get online this weekend :-P)

NUTRITION
Saturday was a cheat day but I still did eat pretty well. We went to a Latin restaurant for a friend's birthday but I didn't overeat and I ate the good stuff. Pretty proud of myself. Sunday I wasn't very hungry so I only ate a little bit but it was all good stuff.

FITNESS
Saturday we salsa danced for 2 hours at least...pretty sure that counts for the weekend, right?

Other
I swear i'm going to start that cleansing this week...honest. I'll go get it tonight :-P

PROGRESS
Thanks to last week's botched weigh in and since I won't have my scale while I'm travelling this week I decided to shift this week's weigh in to Monday. TA-DA 159.4!!!! I'm on cloud nine today!!! :-)

So yeah that's it..this feels great. I'm going to really really focus on my water this week. Especially when I'm travelling I tend to not drink enough water so that's a problem. That's the focus. That and getting that darn cleansing stuff!

Thanks! I tried not to but nothing helped. I did have one drink more than I probably should have last night (because of calories...nothing else) but even that didn't help the headache. I'm going to ask my dr. if it might be TOM related...I get these about every month so maybe....alright here goes yesterday's report...

NUTRITION
Despite ordering restaurant food yesterday with my group from work, I didn't do half bad! I went a little over on calories (knew I shouldn't have had the roll!) but other than that it went pretty well. Got all my water..it's all good!

FITNESS
Nothing yesterday..got home late and decided I wanted my bed. I'll do the DVD tonight!

Other
Terrrrrrible headache most of the day as noted above. I really need to figure out what's going on with those because they throw me off pretty badly all day. I'm going to try to avoid getting one today but I'm not sure how well that'll work...keep your fingers crossed for me!

That's about it. I've got to behave today and tomorrow so I don't stress too much when I go downtown with the girls tomorrow night. I'm going to watch the Wings game at home so I'm not tempted by buffalo wings (might make some scallops tonight...yummy). Should be a good weekend...thinking a run tomorrow morning might be in order. We'll see though...I'll be sure to get something in. If I do the DVD I'd like to do it twice tomorrow.

Bleh. Ter. Ri. Ble. Headache this afternoon. Already have popped a couple pills and been trying to drink water but my whole head hurts. Really trying not to get random comfort food ... someone said I should go get a frosty and fries but I'm going to resist. We're doing a work / bar thing tonight so I'm going to limit what I eat / drink there and finish my meal at home. Hopefully by then I have the energy to cook! Just whining, I know..sorry...trying to make sure I don't ruin my progress with one bad day...

Thanks Roxanna! I know I'll get my workouts in and now using that video is a challenge...and I always respond to a challenge :-) I've definitely been using the community as my support and encouragement. I'm still getting the "you don't need to lose weight" talk from all my friends which really doesn't help when you're looking for motivation to get your butt moving!

I'm sure it is too...but it's motivation to be extra well behaved all week. I have to see a drop next Wednesday because then I won't have an excuse! You're right - chocolate's good but not nearly as good as feeling healthy!

How was your class last night? Have a great day!

Gabi, I have faith that you can stay on track this weekend and next week! Just make sure to check here daily and you should be fine! LOL :) I know when I'm not wanting to get on my treadmill, I usually come here and read some posts on the message boards then I get motivated...especially when I read huge weightloss stories!

Sorry to hear about your weigh-in but I'm sure it is due to TOM...ugh and I know how you feel..I wanted chocolate all night tonight! The only thing that kept me from eating any was the thought of how awesome my scale looked this morning! I suppose no food tastes as good and being skinny will feel :)

Hope you have a great day tomorrow!

Alright...real post of the day... Kinda blah today but whatever...

NUTRITION
Stayed on track and was a little more hungry today than usual but that might be because I didn't do as good at drinking my water today. Oops.

FITNESS
I am more out of shape for not working out than I thought. New plan. Workout DVD in the afternoons for a couple weeks. First week I'll just do the 10 minute crash course segment. When I can do all the workouts I'll do two segments a day; the cardio and then a body group. That should get me back into better shape to do a normal workout routine at which point I'll do that and do 10 minute segments in the morning to get going and start my day off with a kick. Sound good? I think so...the key is going to be patience. I'm anxious to get better looking!!!

Other
Just a lil tired and sore. Stupid TOM. Can't wait for some more downtime this weekend to get myself feeling better!

That's all folks...I'll be here all night! emoticon

Well weigh in day went just as expected...not great. Stupid water weight. I feel heavy and bloated but I'm feeling good about next week knowing that I'll keep working to get this weight off despite feeling so sluggish. I'm working on drinking more water today to see if i can't help flush some of this out of me and I NEED to do that cleansing thing soon. I think that will really help me feel better. Food is going well today and I'm feeling the weight workout for tonight. I used to love my shoulders and arms and they don't look nearly as good now. Granted that might be because I spent 6 weeks on crutches...maybe I need to do that again...

Might have a bit of a couple challenges ahead of me. Saturday night I'm going downtown with some of the girls for a birthday...gotta make sure I stay SUPER clean the rest of the day. Also, I'll be travelling next Wednesday and Thursday so I'll have to make sure I make time to workout and pay attention to what I eat. Keep me on track!

Today was pretty good - yay!

NUTRITION
I hit all my marks, even had a lil room for pudding with a couple chocolate chips :-) Water was a little low but only by a glass and I feel pretty good. Yummy day.

FITNESS
An hour and a half of "tennis" got me into a sweat and I'm pretty sure my friend and I got more exercise running around the court chasing our hits than most people do in regular games! We had fun!

Other
I didn't make it to GNC yesterday so the cleansing is still on hold. I'm still a little cranky / crampy today so maybe waiting a little while will be a good thing.

Overall a pretty good week so far. Except for the part where it feels like it should be a Thursday...oh well!

The banana bread is great...you should try it. The rest of my family loved it and I'm sure yours would too! I didn't make it to the gym last night..
emoticon
... but I did do some weightless work. Lunges, sit-ups, push-ups, stretching, stuff like that. I was upset I couldn't make it to the gym but considering the way I was feeling, it's probably better I didn't go. I didn't eat much last night either but it turned out ok because I had a big lunch!

I'm really hoping tomorrow's weigh in doesn't go badly. I know it won't be an actual weight but unless it's a decrease, I probably won't count it just because I know the number tomorrow will be higher than my "actual" ...so if it's nice and low, that's an awesome sign...otherwise I'll scratch it til next week. Silly I know but I'll feel better posting an honest number instead of the TOM affected one.

Thanks for the motivation Roxanna! You're keeping me on track!

Honey Banana Bread sounds so very yummy!! It sounds like you have had a wonderful day! Kudos for staying on the right track :)

I completely understand the extra water weight! Hopefully it wont be noticed when you weigh-in. Your a week ahead of me, so I'll have that problem during next weeks weigh-in..haha! Hopefully I can keep on the straight and narrow during the rest of this week!

Have a great night!

Thanks! I'm excited about it too! Now I just have to keep it up. Not sure how off my weight will be from "reality" on Wednesday thanks to a lil extra water weight (hope you follow that Roxanna!) but I know it'll all work out!

Thanks! I've done pretty well so far today... I'll do my update now.

NUTRITION:
Doing pretty well so far. My sister and I made the Honey Banana Bread yesterday and I had leftovers so I did that, an apple and a glass of milk for breakfast today. Yummy and good. That kept me full til lunch and I totally forgot I told a co-worker I'd go out to lunch with them. He bought (yay!) and I did well at Panera. Sandwich and soup and picked the apple for my side. Did a diet pepsi to help keep me awake...that thunderstorm last night destroyed my sleep!

emoticon
Now I'm trying to figure out what to do because even with my dinner I'm not getting enough calories and carbs today. Strange problem to have, I know! Maybe I'll make some popcorn tonight or something.

emoticon

FITNESS:
Tonight I'm starting my efforts to focus on the fitness and workout part of the plan too. I'm going to go home, run a couple errands and end my day with a nice sweat and shower. Weights are up for tonight as I start my "fitness model" weight routine. Can't wait to see the results of that!

emoticon

Other
Just kind of out of it today. I'm a little tired and cranky and in pain today but I am determined to not let that get in my way of my workout tonight. I'll just keep focusing on the nice hot shower I'll get to take tonight after I work out! I got a little extra motivation today so hopefully I'll be able to use that to my advantage.

Definitely glad I joined this site and community. I'm doing better than I imagined, I'm tracking everything I eat, I'm focused on making progress and I am so motivated to meet my goal! Thanks everyone!

So this weekend went ok. The meals I could cook went great...made a couple spark recipes, recommended my parents to the site, everyone was happy. Except the for the part where this race track doesn't actually allow coolers. What?? Kind of messed up the plan but I did ok otherwise. Peaked at the scale today and it read 161. Three times (I checked three times because I couldn't believe it.) Yay! Hopefully that'll keep up that way on Wednesday. I'll do my more detailed post for today later but I wanted to do a quick weekend post. There it is. Hope you all had a great weekend...I'll be back later today!

Lunch time at work and I'm doing pretty well today. I'm drinking my first soda all week but it's a diet pepsi so it's not all bad! Here are the updates:

NUTRITION
Like I said...the diet soda is out of the norm but I had a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast (it's bagel day on Fridays at work...hard to pass up!) but have adjusted the rest of my day to compensate for the extra carbs. So far it looks like I should do fine. Yesterday was very much still on track and today I'll be too busy to snack poorly. I feel good!

FITNESS
Well the apartment still isn't spotless so I'll get more cardio points tonight for heavy cleaning after I run groceries so my sister and I can make dinner for the 'rents while they're all in town. I printed a couple Spark recipes and I'll be trying those out for the fam this weekend. Can't wait! With the clean apartment and clean diet plan, the real fitness part starts next week!

Other
I'm starting a cleansing system next Monday for a week. It's a week long and I'll limit myself to no sodas and as clean of a diet as I can handle to get the most of the cleansing. Now I just have to make sure I don't ruin all my progress with food at the race track tomorrow! I think I'm going to pack some frozen grapes, a water bottle, and some crackers to limit the amount of crap I eat at the track.
emoticon

PROGRESS!!
I know I said I'd update this only once a week or so but out of curiosity I tried the scale again today...162.6. Yeah! Granted I won't really get too excited about it until the end of next week so I know it's weight actually off and not just water weight but I'm still going to celebrate in the little victories!

How's it going for everyone out there? Have a spark-ling day!
emoticon
- Gabi

Time for a real post and I think I'll start with an intro. I am your average 24 year old, college grad with an office job. Fun, right? But sitting at a desk all day, bad eatting habits in college, and my ability to justify nearly everything I eat has given way to some extra pounds. The problem with this is that as I try to make these efforts, all my friends and family tell me I look great, don't have anything to worry about, etc. And they're right...I don't look overweight, my body fat is within the normal range (higher part of the normal but it's there) and I don't have any weight related health problems. Sounds great, right? No...just means I have too many enablers! I love my friends and family but I need the push...the kick... which is why I joined Spark. Yay!

So now for the extra motivation and timeline. I want to look good by the end of July for a few reasons.
1. I need deadlines. I live by data and deadlines. I'm an engineer so that's in my nature.
2. I'm moving mid-July and I want a fresh start. I purge my belongs and food when I move so having my body back by then makes great sense too.
3. I had to forfeit a marathon in May due to aforementioned health problems. Turns out lack of ability to breathe and chest pains are bad. A few weeks of steroids, an inhaler, half a dozen dr's visits, an x-ray, EKG, and breathing test later, I'm supposedly better. We'll see. I'm still nervous to start working out again but I want to be able to run that marathon next May. I've sworn not to run another marathon until then. I need to be in awesome shape though because my goal for this marathon was 5:30:00. Here's to hoping!

So there it is. Now for the updates like I'll do here in the future.

NUTRITION
So far this week I'm focusing on the diet plan because I have failed at creating my own (thanks Spark for making it so easy!) and I've been good at being honest and including everything - including the stress induced Frosty I had the other night. My calorie goal counts surprised me (seemed low) but I'm going with it. I've been a little hungry but this is the adjustment period and I think sometimes I'm bored-hungry, not real hungry so I'll let it go. I'm actually hosting my parents in town this week and I've offered to cook dinner (using a couple Spark recipes) so that we can all eat healthier and save a little cash. Plus, healthy leftovers make great lunches!

FITNESS
Thanks to the family visit, I've been cleaning like a mad girl. Tonight I'm really getting down and clean (not dirty...get it? hehe) so I'll clock that as cardio but I've been a lil lazy the rest of the week. I think that'll be good though...nail down my eating habits, then the fitness habits. One thing at a time. This girl doesn't need more stress!

Other
It's been a stressful week but I'm learning how to handle it better I think. I watered down my wine with soda water (really good actually and cut the calories and carbs of usual water) so with the exception of yesterday's Frosty I think I'm doing pretty good. Check out my personal page now and in the future for the more personal stuff...I'll stick to the nutrition and fitness info here.

PROGRESS!!
So not much to report here...I'll do this section once a week or so but I did step on the scale this morning and I've already dropped half a pound. Not a lot I know but it's a start. Gotta celebrate every little bit!

Thanks for checking me out - welcome to my world. I appreciate any other info / comments / suggestions / questions / jokes / kicks in the rear...whatever... Good luck to all of you out there! I'm here to return the favor in forms of motivation / rear kicking / listening ear if you ever need it. Spark it up!

So I can't blog at work but for some reason I can get on message boards...I think I'll use this instead. I'll add to my journal as I'm running reports and whatnot today (those always take forever) and hopefully this additional accountability will help keep me on track! Feel free to comment / question / push / whatever you might want. I'm pretty laid back so make me laugh a little and it's all good! Here it goes! emoticon
