I joined SparkPeople.com because I want to lose weight while pursuing a healthier lifestyle. I've been here for about five weeks now, and the scale has moved an almost disappointing five pounds. Instead of being unhappy about my slow progress, I am making a point of being pleased that the scale is finally moving in the right direction.
The true happiness with the system here is when I step away from the scale and look at the other things that have changed in the past five weeks. I haven't needed to take medicine for my heartburn in the past couple of weeks. I had been taking it daily. I haven't gone looking for the tube of Preparation H recently either, now that I think about it! My thighs aren't as sore from chafing when I walk, and I've been walking A LOT! I don't moan and groan when I sit down and get up again...I actually feel stronger!
Did I mention my mood? I feel happier! I'm pretty sure that I'm more pleasant to be around...
So fine, the scale isn't telling me what I want it to, but so many other things are reporting in positively that the scale is becoming less important. I know that as long as I keep making positive changes in my fitness and food, the scale will get where I want it to be all in good time!
