Well done on seeing such improvements!

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

You should be proud of the great progress you have made and I am sure the Dr will be excited about the numbers as well

Wow! Did I ever make a typo! It was supposed to be 120/78. I don't know how I did that. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

I think you might have made a typo in your first email... you said 170/118, and I think you meant 120??? In any case, it is always a great thing when you can get rid of meds and stay healthy! Congrats on your healthy lifestyle!

I will of course talk to my doctor when I see him in about a month, but in the meantime I am a nurse practitioner and do know what I am doing. My blood pressure was actually dropping too low with the medication just as my blood sugars were dropping extremely low with the insulin I had been taking. Back home in Wi I would have simply called the office and got the OK to stop but in this area of the country the nurses simply will not address such questions with the doctors nor can you get in to see one early! I find the medical system as with many other things much different here in the South! In the meantime I was suffering from disabling problems as my BP dropped down below 100 for the systolic.

Excellent. I hope you see your doctor soon...you shouldn't stop medication on your own.

It's always a plus when you get healthy enough to do away with medications. I would suggest talking with your doctor first, though, as a normal blood pressure should be under 120/80. It's possible that your current level just feels low because your pressure has been high for so long. My mom has had high blood pressure for 30+ years and starts feeling sick if hers gets too close to normal, even though it's technically still high.

A few days ago I stopped taking my last BP med because my pressure was getting too low. So far it is staying at normal levels like 120/78 resting and going up appropriately with exercise. I have been on BP meds for 40 years. I will keep watching very closely but hope this trend will continue. Last month I was able to get off the insulin I take for tyoe 2 diabetes and my blood sugars have remained normal for several weeks now. I am anxious to see how my Dr reacts when I go in.
