Went to the doctor yesterday and she gave me some good news!
I am no longer "pre-diabetic."
I'm a 44 year old male, 67" tall, overweight, and my last two lab results weren't very good. I had a high A1C in January 2012 and a high A1C and glucose in urine in June. She said I really need to do something. I told here I had just started exercise a week before and didn't want to go on any medications. She agreed and said we'll test again in October and decide what to do then.
Well since June I have gone from 227 pounds down to 192 and my last set of tests show a normal A1C and no glucose in my urine.
My method: I eat about 1800-2000 calories a day (I count using SparkPeople) and spend 40-60 minutes a day, six times a week on my elliptical.
I hope to lose another 37 pounds (155 goal) and see if I can get rid of using high blood pressure and cholesterol medications.
Wish me luck!
