emoticon Good for you, I hope you're celebrating your achievement! From start weight to goal weight is probably going to take 2 years altogether for me but they'll be 2 years well spent

Right on FLORIDAJOE1! I couldn't have said it better. I chose the same route that you took and the results are just like yours. The only difference: I weigh less than I did in high school! This is downright fun!

Spark On!

FloridaJoe, great work! As you said slow and steady does it. Works for me, too. Best to you in your new body. Life is good from a 70 year old.

Way to go, FloridaJoe! :D

Welcome to maintenance -- which, you'll find, is a lot like the weight loss phase, except it's for life this time. Luckily, you've already put in the time and effort into changing your habits. As with weight loss, patience and consistancy will be your best weapons. As I've heard many a maintainer say, it isn't always easy, but it IS always WORTH IT.

Congratulations!

Starting Weight: 260 lbs. (November 2010)
Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011)
Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011)

Size 22W to Size 4

Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

Congratulations on your success! Slow and steady is the way to do it for me, too! emoticon

You’ll get where you want to go as long as you are taking more steps in the right direction than the wrong one.

I almost never post a message but it's only right to let folks know that SparkPeople works and that 'slow and steady wins the race'. I started tracking calories July of last year. At the time I was walking 7500 steps per day. I started losing 1.5 to 2 pounds per week. This went on up to Thanksgiving when I plateaued for a week and then Christmas the same thing and then I continued losing at a rate of 2 or 3 pounds per month. I finally reached my goal weight about a week ago. It's a great feeling.
Meanwhile, I dropped from a size 36 to a size 32 waist. Now, I'm 50 years old and the same size and weight that was in high school. I also started working out at the gym last March and with all the fat gone the muscles look nice.
MORAL of the story: Stick with it, don't get in a hurry, and you'll get results.
