I loved to go to buffets. I still do and it took me long time to convince myself that buffet is my enemy. I don't go there anymore. Eating out is not so much of a problem since I ask for a box as soon as I sit down. Buffet was a totally different story. I always felt pressure that I should eat worth my money and that was bad. Bottom line if you feel pressure to eat more then quit buffet and if you are strong and can stop when you are full go for it!
No matter how much you mess up today tomorrow is a new day. Keep on going.
That is a step in the right direction! It's really challenging when so much of eating involves other people. Maybe you can steer your family into non-eating together time, like walking in a park or a game of frisbee or something?

It's okay to go to these kinds of buffets (all you can eat deals), ONCE in a while. But, a person wouldn't want to eat like this on a regular basis. if they did, the weight would pack on fast. So, if you enjoy a deal, make it a once in a while treat instead of a weekly occurrence.
Take your Chinese buffet, do you think you could engage in portion control ? If not, then you might want to limit your trips to this place to maybe once a month instead of once a week.
It's tough to not want to try a little of everything, but if you can't be mindful or practice portion control, it might be best to either avoid this kinds of deals or limit them.
How would you feel about a once a month trip for Chinese buffet ? You might enjoy it more if you didn't eat it each week. It might be less of a temptation too.

I have a weakness for All You Can deals. My standard date night place is a Chinese buffet. Every Wednsday I think about getting greasy AYCE wings from the place down the road. (I've benn good about not going, but I daydream about it.) Now TGI Fridays has a AYCE deal for $10. I'm going crazy with temptation. I don't eat myself sick like some people, but I do go way over my calorie range.
