I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your family. I'm a firm believer that stress is a neglected aspect of weight gain. If a person could reduce their stress, they'd automatically reduce their waistline.

Don't beat yourself up because you've turned to food for comfort. Every single member of SP has done the same thing at one time or another. What to do is try to find ways to reduce your stress that don't involve food. When you feel stressed out, take a walk. walking is not only great cardiovascular exercise, it's a great way to reduce stress too. If you don't want to take a walk, sit and sip a cup of tea. Tea is very relaxing.

Do you knit or sew or paint ? Do you do any crafts ? having a hobby is another great way to reduce stress. It helps keep our minds off our troubles. And well, you could always write or blog. Writing out your feelings can be very cathartic. So, you may find really helpful too.

Mostly, be kind to yourself as you would to others. Things will improve.

If/when you get to the stage of NOT wanting to eat, just nibbling on things like a couple nuts here and there, a piece of banana, or a couple spoons of yoghurt will help.

A lot of people who emotionally eat find it helps to write about it. It helps to get the feeling out. You can do it on paper, or on your spark page - you can blog and set it to private so it's for your eyes only.

Do you exercise at all? It's a great stress reliever! Even taking a brisk 30 minute walk can help relieve stress and clear your head.

If you don't belong to a gym (I don't) and it's too cold to walk, youtube has free videos - Leslie Sansome has a series you can find on there, it's walking in your living room. Yoga is very popular for stress relief, too - it's invigorating and relaxing at the same time, and you can find beginner yoga on youtube as well.

The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.

I'm dealing with a lot of family drama atm, which has lead to me being left without most of my family not talking to me. I now am not eating or over eating to deal with being upset about it all. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on changing that habit?
