My father is a computer engineer. We're working on getting it off. That's how I was able to figure out what happened pretty quick.

BIGBADBIGFOOT,

Software that was installed can be uninstalled. Do you know the name of the program ? If you know the name, you can remove it yourself via Windows. If you're not sure of the program this guy put on your computer, take your computer to your local computer geeks. Tell them what he may have put on your computer and they'll take it off.

There are lots of "spyware" programs he could have put on your system as a way of monitoring your actions. That's why you need to keep your computer use down to a bare minimum. Do you use a camera for SKYPE ? If so, turn it off, unplug it or put a cloth over it. In fact, turn off your computer when you're not using it. Don't leave it hooked up to the internet. Disconnect it.

You need to google search for your local computer geeks. They'll clean your system.

Block him, change your passwords to your online accounts, and ignore him completely. If he gets more threatening contact the police.

Thanks for the replies.

I think he got me to install a keystroke monitor virus on my computer about a week before things blew up. Unfortunately he did so in a way that can't really be tracked for criminal charges.

I'm doing ok. It turns out he was more interested in one of my friends whose been getting the brunt of his attack... I think she might have slept with him then pushed him at me to get rid of him, but a lot is still up in the air.

Still mostly in shock.

If it is occurring on FB, block him and be sure your FB page is set to private. If he is communicating on there to you through mutual friends, message them and let them know that you need to drop them as FB friends due to it.

If he is communicating to you through email, mark them as spam, or if you use gmail, set filters so messages from him go to the trash. If need be, get a new email address.

If you both go to forums, block him on the forum.

The worst thing you can do is engage him in anyway. Don't do it, no matter what he says to you. If you engage him, you are giving him power..don't do it.

BIGBADBIGFOOT,

I agree. Call the police and find out what your options are for possible stalking. Hopefully, with time, he'll get tired of bothering you and will move on. For your own peace of mind, call your local police department and ask what your portions are. there are laws on the books to protect people from stalkers. It might not be much, but it's a start.

I would do your best to ignore any comments he may leave on your FB page. Don't take anything he writes personally. He'll try to say some pretty nasty things just to get a rise out of you. Don't take the bait. Ignore him. turn the other cheek. the more you interact with him, the more he'll think he still has a chance with you.

BigBadBigFoot -

Sorry to hear you are having issues. That sucks. I agree with the previous posters about the police, although that will help on one level, it can still lead to overeating. I would encourage you to get out and exercise instead of eating. Go for a walk, meet up with friends at the mall (avoid the food court)! Stay away from your computer except to go on Sparkpeople! :) Have someone else check your email/texts, etc. and delete so you don't have to see/deal with the bullying. Focus on doing things that will make you stronger. I know it is hard, but you can hang on to your power in this situation. Do you have a non-food related hobby you can occupy your hands with?

I know it may be hard to find friends who aren't' busy during this season, but keep reaching out to us on the internet. We're here for you too.

Happy holidays,
Be safe and strong,

I would be inclined to talk with the police, too. They should be able to direct you to the appropriate place to deal with this. Another avenue you could take is to contact your Internet Provider and ask what they suggest. They may be able to block him some how.

Talk to the police. I know it sounds extreme but you have to take direct actions against someone who makes you feel insecure. I'm a victim of abuse, the only way for you to keep going is to face this person and stop being afraid, otherwise you will be stuck with this feeling for the rest of your life.

Hey guys, not dirrectly related to dieting, but definitely connected to my self esteem. Right before Christmas I had a relationship go south very fast, over the internet, and now he's harrassing me. I've stopped interacting with him, but I'm concerned about what else I can do to insulate myself emotionally from him.

Emotionally I used to deal with this type of situatiin by overeating, but I know that doesn't lead anywhere good.
