Look at it this way, you've lost 45 pounds! That in itself is AMAZING. You should feel proud. Look at all that you have accomplished! Feel good about yourself! I lost motivation yesterday to the point where I absolutely did not care. I even ate a super bad greasy burger, fries, and coke. I thought it was over and I would start gaining weight but you know what? I woke up and had actually lost weight! Stress is the biggest factor here and you should not be stressing. Take a couple of "me" days. Relax, watch tv, do what you like to do for fun. Once you get some time alone to yourself you will start to gain your motivation back like I have, I promise! Don't give up! You're already 45 pounds closer, you've done more exercise than over half of the entire USA, and you have your best friends here at spark! You CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!

Take it one day at a time. :)

PHOENIXREBIRTH,

I give all new members one piece of advice and it's this,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

Don't beat yourself up because you've skipped strength training. Are you still doing your best to eat right and watch your portions ? If so, that's something.

If you find yourself bored with your exercise routine, then it's time to change your routine. Do you have a gym membership ? If so, how about taking a group weight training class ? You may find strength training more motivating if you're doing it in a class with other people.

When you first started this journey, did you make a lot of changes all at once? If so, this could explain what you are feeling like you are. ALSO, if you did, you will be best off to go back to what you were doing and applying those baby steps methods to help you. This means just changing one or two things - perhaps increasing water/decreasing soda or juice, and mobilizing a bit more in your day. Only add something else to the mix when your mind/body has gotten used to those changes.

In time you will find that you are doing more and more, and when you think back to your beginning, you will realize that you have actually come a long way.

There are some fun ways you can add strength training to you day, and it shouldn't seem like you are exercising. One was is to get an exercise band and use it while watching TV. The other way is when you carry your groceries, try a bag in each hand and using it like dumb-bells while carrying them from the car to the house. I have done this occasionally and it can be fun - it certainly didn't seem like exercise to me!

Good luck, but I'm sure you won't need it. You will find a way through this and renew your commitment to a healthier lifestyle :-)

Take care,
Kris

I'm sorry that you are feeling down, and that you have lost motivation. It is really hard at the best of times to keep motivated. So give yourself a huge pat on the back for pushing the panic button, you have already taken a really positive step forward to help yourself, by acknowledging your struggle and asking for help. I am barracking for you! emoticon
