I agree with LADYCJM...Volunteer!! There are so many different things you can be involved in...you can give of your time...you can learn new things...meet people who will make a difference in your life...and be someone who makes a difference in other's lives....!!
If you are an outdoor person, there are many Trail Groups and Volunteers in Parks opportunities.... If you enjoy visiting, try volunteering at a Senior Residence Center to help with small tasks like writing letters for folks with limited vision; reading out loud to them; helping put on parties and events.... If you like children, so many young folks enjoy reading programs at Libraries; help with a Girl Scout Troop, etc....
I have volunteered with Emergency Management groups; our hospital (receptionist on the locked Mother/infant unit); and in the Archeology lab at a National Park (no experience required) and on Trail work.... You meet the most fascinating folks!!!
