The fitness burns are an estimate. So, a person does have to be careful that they don't over eat. But doing too much exercise and not eating enough puts a person at risk for under eating.

One thing I've learned from my own years of yo yo dieting is this, if you are eating sensibly and watching your portions, everything really does have a way of working out. Weight loss is nothing more than a byproduct of a healthy lifestyle. if you're eating right, watch your portions and getting some regular exercise, the weight will come off on its own.

Many Americans (myself included) suffer or suffered from portion distortion. We're so used to eating heaping piles of food that we don't know what a true portion looks like. So, when we see a smaller portion, we think we're getting gipped. What to do ? Don't cut your calories too drastically. I've found that too many people drastically cut their calories in hopes of speeding up their weight loss. And there really is no safe way to lose weight fast.

On days you do extra exercise, increase your caloric intake by increasing the healthy foods you eat. Try having a couple extra servings of fresh fruit and veggies. that will help.

Thanks for the feedback. It really is hard for me to take in. I am really afraid that the excercise burned is not accurate. I have a hard time with over eating so this gets into dangerous ground for me.

Losing 51 pounds since April is fantastic ! Here's the thing, when a person starts getting closer to a healthy weight for their height, they are going to notice that loss starts slowing down. So, don't assume something is wrong if the weight isn't coming off as fast as it did when you started. There will be weeks and even months where you might not see any loss. And that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong.

One thing you shouldn't do is under eat for the amount of exercise you do. If you've increase your activity levels, you will need to eat a bit more. Eating too little and exercising too much can hinder a person's weight loss. that's because you're forcing your body to decide which is more important, having energy to keep your heart and vital organs functioning or having energy to exercise.

If you increase your exercise, you need to eat more. I know this is going to sound strange, but a person has to eat in order to lose weight. So, don't be alarmed if the scale doesn't move if you eat a bit more on days you do extra activity. that really IS perfectly normal.

Let's say you eat 1200 calories for they day because you want to be "good". Then let's say you burn 500 calories exercising. Deduct 500 from 1200 and that means your body only has 700 calories (energy) for the entire day. That's not enough calories to keep an adult woman healthy. that's why if you burn 500 calories or more exercising, you need to eat a bit more so that your body isn't starved for energy.

Because that's what happens when you eat too little and exercise too much. your body doesn't have the energy it needs to function properly.

I know this really does sound weird, but starving doesn't speed up weight loss. Now that you're approaching a healthier weight, you will notice that loss slows down. And that too is normal.

I am having a hard time using the new tracker for nutrition segment factoring in the fitness. My daily goals have shot way up when I exercise. I have been doing the same amount of exercise since I re-started Spark People in April. I have lost 51 lbs total since then and kept withing the old nutrition goals. When I consistently hit the upper limits of those old goals I had a hard time losing the weight. I seem to do better at the lower levels. Now these new levels are way above what I have been eating. Anyone have any guidance?
