I would say never deprive yourself of anything - it just makes it more desirable. Have a little of what you fancy and account for it in your daily calorie range.
This isnt a diet. Unless you plan never to eat sweets again, learn how to control what you do have.
Better to have a small amount than to get to a place where you eat lots in an out of control manner.
