I agree with portions - in Europe, the portions are more like we used to have here in the states, before plates became platters and bowls became troughs.
Do be sure to eat your veggies. :-) I've always found this is crucial to weight loss. I try to eat fruits and/or veggies with EVERY meal - this can usually be done in Europe, as well, though I don't know about breakfast so much over there. (In France, breakfast is pretty much bread and coffee. Am guessing Italy is similar but don't really know.)
With all the walking you should be fine. Let us know how you did!
