If you're feeling physically drained, then you may have more than just a cold. Don't beat yourself up because you can't exercise. As you said, just watch what you eat, get some rest and push the fluids. There is no point trying to exercise when you're tired. You just increase your risk for injury. Take a few days off. When you feel like you have a bit of energy, then take a walk around the neighborhood. Don't try to do anything intense or you'll just relapse. Your immune system is weak. Exercising will just make it weaker.
No one will consider you a slacker because you have to take a few days off to let your body recover. Like I said, when you feel like your energy is coming back, you can start with a daily walk. When you're 90+ % back, then you can think about returning to your routine.
For now, take it easy.

I am also always tired. Normally I understand that it is a combination of the extra weight and me dealing with depression, but right now I have a cold as well.
How much should you push yourself when you have a cold? I understand that if your really sick that it is better to watch what you eat and get the rest, but this is just a cold. However, I'm exhausted I can barely get moving just to go to work. Any ideas?

Are you under any unusual stress ? When a person is experiencing stress and anxiety in their daily lives, that could cause a disruption in their sleeping patterns. When a person is stressed out, many times they turn to food for comfort. So, if you are stressed out, that would explain why you're tired and craving food.
That's just a guess.
Have you read some of the other comments to the original post ? Did you recently decide you wanted to lose weight ? Were you sedentary before and then started to exercise more vigorously ? Many times, when a person decides they want to lose weight, they drastically cut their calories and begin exercising to excess in hopes of speeding up their weight loss. This is not healthy.
food = energy and no food = no energy
So, if you're tired, it could be a result of a lack of food or even a lack of proper nutrition if you're not eating healthy foods. If you've been eating more junk that usual, this is what I've learned from my own experiences.
If you eat crap, you feel like crap.
These are just a few thoughts. We really need more information from you to be helpful. Have you been experiencing any unusual stress at home, work, school, family or relationship ? Are you eating enough ? Did you recently increase the amount of exercise you do ? Are you eating anything unusual or out of the ordinary ?
If your fatigue has only been the last few days, then it shouldn't really affect your weight so soon.
There could be a variety of reasons that you are feeling like you are - below are some:
* Weather conditions (hot and/or humid)
* Nutrition less than desirable - processed foods rather than wholesome fruit/veges, healthy protein and fats. Make sure that you are meeting all your nutrition goals
* Not eating enough to sustain your activities
* Not eating ALL of your meals
* Not getting enough sleep at night
* Medical Conditions
Nutrition you can easily do something about, but some of the others you might require the help of a Dr. It could be that a simple blood test might identify the reason, and in turn set about reversing it. If it is depression, then appropriate treatment for this can do wonders, too!
It may be the heat and humidity getting to you. When it's extremely hot outside, the last thing I want to do is exercise. However, while it would be nice if we could sleep in every day, you still need to get out of bed and get moving. Don't forget what Newton's Law on Motion says," a body in motion tends to stay in motion. A body at rest tends to stay at rest".
So, how about taking a walk ? The fresh air will do you some good.
Also, don't forget, when it comes to weight loss or weight gain, what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit and healthy. In short, you can't outrun a bad diet with exercise. If you want to lose weight, you have to eat right. If you want to look good in a bathing suit, then you have to exercise and increase your lean muscle.

The last few days i have been just too tired to exercise any more then the bare minimum. Its caused my weight to fluctuate more then normal. How can i force myself to burn those extra calories when all i want to do is sleep?
