Thanks to everyone for the advice, sincerely. It helped a lot.

I've decided to be easy on myself and just enjoy food. I'm making some healthier muffins with fresh fruit in them right now for my sweet cravings, and I replaced part of the sugar in 'em with honey. A little bad for me and a little good for me, lol. Good for the soul too! Going to have one with some tea & honey and just enjoy my sick day. Actually craving salt again right now (which I don't do unless I'm sick, really), so going to see what I can do for the 'ol body.

Hope everyone's doing well, and thanks for reminding me health isn't so black-and-white. I needed that reminder.

DATPANNA,

I tell all new members and anyone who will listen to me the following advice,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

Don't beat yourself up because you wanted some chicken nuggets. Oddly enough, the reason you might have craved them was because of the salt. If you've been sick, your body might not be getting enough salt. So, that might explain the odd craving. Having some chicken nuggets does not mean you're going to be eating them every single day. One less than perfect meal or even one day of over eating WILL NOT make or break your healthy lifestyle.

It's okay to crave junk food once in a while. Eating it doesn't make you a bad person or an unhealthy one. Put it behind you.

I had that crappy cold/sinus infection/whatever a few weeks ago. I couldn't exercise, I was too wiped out, and when I tried to take a walk, it was cold and I ended up feeling worse. I still kept track of what I ate, but for the most part, I ate what made me feel good. I will say, though, that the yogurt smoothies I amke with gr. yogurt abd fruit and chia seeds made me feel better.

Salad just doesn't appeal when you can't breathe and feel crummy.

Today's excuses are tomorrow's regrets dressed in disguise.

If you eat crap, you feel like crap and that makes you want more crap.

Things that may make you feel better are

Rest fight off the germs

Yogurt or Kefir which kills harmful bacteria

If you have diarrhea eat blueberries as they have diarrhea fighting tannins.

Stick with gentle on the stomach foods
Salted crackers, Soda crackers, Bland cereal, Dry toast
Rice, Tapioca, Boiled or baked potatoes and even applesauce

Chamomile tea acts as a carmative and can soothe.

Hope you fell better soon.

Perhaps call your doc or ask your pharmacist about allergy medicine?

And thank you for the advice. :)

Hey when I am sick my body craves comfort foods and I eat them then. It's probably the only time I indulge, but I take my signals from my body in telling me what I need. Obviously the soup is going to be a better choice, but just know this is only temporary and you will be back to feeling good in no time. Then you can get on track with the right meal plan.

I am feeling sick too. I am thinking it's spring allergies.

Cheers,

FitGlamGirl

I'm really, really sick. I have a cold, and I've been getting plenty of fluids and rest-- but I'm craving such bad for me foods. I usually love fruits and smoothies and planned on starting my day off with one, but the thought made me sick. I had soup, and now, I'm turned off to that too. I ended up ending my day with McDonalds nuggets, fries, and half of a sundae. (Yes, half, thankfully.) I also had like 5 or 6 cups of sweet tea (which my grandmother conveniently makes at 100 calories a pop, yikes.)

Tips, please? My boyfriend hasn't been able to shake this cold for 5, going on 6 days days and I'm only on day two! I need advice, and perhaps a logical reason why I am craving so many awful things.

Edit: I've kind of decided to let myself be while I'm sick. I'm hard on myself, and you know, my body will tell me what it needs. I'll try to make smart choices, but by all means, if my body is sending me hunger signals, I'll listen. If its turned off by a certain food, I'll listen. I'm sick, and being sick won't last forever. Tips still appreciated.
